I needed a way to contain the tangle of coax, CAT5 and phone wires hanging out of the wall in my coat closet. This Leviton enclosure was the perfect size, and allowed me to incorporate electrical outlets within it.

The Leviton 28 inch cabinet is just what I needed to store all of my low voltage equipment and make my utility room neater in today's world you have security, low voltage lighting, internet, cable TV, these connections can make for unsightly pyle of wires. I got the Leviton cabinet so I can hide all this equipment behind a vented cover the only issues I have is home depot does not have any of the accessories for the cabinet like shelf's, knock outs, electric modules. I am not done with the install this is a little advanced to do yourself if not familiar with security or low voltage but to be honest its just a big junction box to hide all the wires in a safe vented box.

A better design and a welcome replacement! Our original metal cabinet not only inhibited signal, it got alarmingly hot. This is a big improvement. It’s composed of flame-retardant polymer that eliminates interference and has a vented cover for better airflow. It’s versatile too- we simply cut a hole in the cover to allow a pass-through to an external networking stack (see photos).

The Leviton Structured Media Center (Wiring Cabinet) is a versatile enclosure that enables you to keep your structured wiring (ethernet, network, data, audio, video cable) organized in a single, central distribution location. The cabinet is 28" high by 13 1/2"" wide and about 3 1/2" deep. It's made of light weight durable ABS polymer and is suitably vented to house active electronics that may generate heat. Leviton suggests that the plastic material, as opposed to a metal cabinet, would also allow you to house wireless components such as a WiFi router inside the enclosure. The enclosure has plenty of circular and square knockouts for easy feeding of cable bundles into the cabinet on the top and bottom.

This Leviton 28 inch Wireless Structured Media Center with Vented Hinged Door is a great and flexible cabinet for locating telephone, internet or antenna/cable wires and devices. It cleans up the utility room and makes the wiring of devices easier and neater. This also helps in troubleshooting systems when you have a problem. Nothing is worse than having a spaghetti bundle of wires and not knowing where they all go. I also like the idea that the equipment is covered and protected since I have so many water pipes in the utility room and have had leaks in the past. I am using this cabinet for my cable modem and internet router. I have purchased some Leviton accessory mounting plates and pins to mount the modem and the router. I will use the top knockouts to feel in the cable wires and I will install two power receptacle in the bottom of the housing to make a cleaner instillation. This particular cabinet comes with a non hinged cover but it's easy to remove the cover by lifting it off the top screws. The cabinet has a 1 year warranty but unless its abused I am sure it will last for a long time.
