A Great Value

Was considering a split unit for my AC needs, but they run an easy $6K installed. This LG unit met my air conditioning needs at a fraction of the cost. Cools great and reasonably quiet.

Placed in my husbands work area. It cools the area down fast. Waiting for winter to see how the heating portion works. Note it’s 230 volt, which I did not pay attention to. Had to have electrician come and wire for this voltage.

It is loud when compressor kicks in.

We bought the LG 18,000 btu heat and cool window unit when our old GE went out as it was all we could get our hands on at the moment in 103 degree weather. At first it seemed to do really well, but now it doesn't seem to keep the temperature of the room at the set temp. Room temp seems to always be a couple degrees higher than what it is set on. It is loud when the compressor kicks in and only runs for a minute or two at a time when on the E saver mode. It also does not tell you the room temp on the display like our old unit did. The thing I do like about it is that, when it runs, it puts out good cool air and the vents move to help circulate the air.

I believe I wrote all above.

,At first it made a very loud running noise when we cut it on. But that noise went to quiet after it ran a few minutes. There is no noise now. I have it set on 78 for summer, and it shows internal temp is at 77, but it's a very comfortable 77. And it comes on and runs just a minute or two and cuts back off, which is wonderful. Energy efficient. I haven't tried the heater yet, which is less BTU's but I feel comfortable thinking it will be fine in the colder weather too.

Go fridgidaire

Bought this large AC for the price on my lowes card, also to get the 5% off. (total came to $877, but lowes added $24 charge to my card for some kind of payment security & would not remove it)

LG 18000btu heat/cold air conditioner unit

I purchased this ac unit for heat and cold temperatures. So far it has been doing an excellent job and the weather has been extremely hot. I hope it continues to function as it should. LG is a good company.

Not great

We’ve had for this 18 months This morning the little air flow things above the gauges were not in place and it was making a noise. Upon inspection, the plastic strips had melted and had black marks on them! The ac is frozen solid. Do not recommend.

Worked OK but a lot of cosmetic damage to case

It was a special order, and when it arrived, there was a lot of cosmetic damage to the case (something heavy must have been stored on the unit, or it was dropped in shipment). When installed, the unit worked OK cooling and heating, except that the rotating vane that directs the air flow direction would only rotate in on direction a few degrees (not in both directions as expected).

Waste of money

Had this unit installed and at a setting of 63 degree it still doesn’t blow cold air. Took unit back to store thinking the unit was bad. Next one same problem, doesn’t blow cold. I bought a different, smaller unit at almost half the BTUs and it makes the room cold. Very disappointed in tha LG, maybe it’s made for heating more.

Broken, loud and LG won’t replace

I picked up this AC unit today. My husband and I spent 2 hrs installing, turned it on and it sounded like a train. Called LG, got transferred 6 times and finally got the right guy. Discovered a broken part of the fan. Their answer- box it back up and return to Home Depot. No warranty- no replacement. This think is HEAVY and a beast to lug around. What an inconvenience!!! I will not be replacing this with an LG.

Bought 3 days ago

We just got this window unit 3 days ago and it is already having issues. It freezes on the coils! We have never had an AC unit do this before. It's ridiculous. This is a brand NEW unit. We have been running it set to 80 degrees and everything on it is clean! Very frustrating.

Disappointed...

First off, It ships in retail packaging which isn't strong enough for delivery by common carrier, The cabinet was bent up and needed to be straightened out. And more importantly... the cooling is a huge disappointment! Supposed to handle 1000 square feet, it won't even cool the 720 square foot shop I have! Very low airflow and it doesn't get cold! A real let down...

Unit Never Worked - Technician said Coolant Banned

It never worked from day 1. We tried using it for months and then asked Home Depot for replacement. I bought a 3 year warranty. Home Depot said that we had to go through LG because it was less than a year. That was a nightmare going through LG. Finally, tech came out and said that the coolant R410A was banned in California and it was empty. I tried looking for replacement air conditioners with heat using R32 refrigerant on Home depot. This info is almost non-existent on Home Depot. Bad, bad, bad

Enormous. 240 volt.

I didn't realize this was not compatible with my outlet before installing it. Woops! But the thing is so cumbersome that it was easier to upgrade the outlet than return/replace it.

Only lasted 1 year

I purchased the 23000 lg btu ac in 2015 and it worked really well for cooling that summer and the heater was used only 4 times since it wasn’t my primary source of heat and the ac went completely out after only using a month in the second summer. My warranty had just went out and I spoke with LG representative by phone and they couldn’t determine what the problem was with the code showing and said they would see if they could do anything about it since it was only used 1 summer but of course they decided to not help me with my problem. A thousand dollars was entirely too much to spend for one summers use. I have bought another ac just like it this summer due to it was the only one that will fit in the slot in my wall but I purchased an extended warranty this time due to I don’t trust this ac to last any longer that the last one did

Only been using it a short time, but seems to cool efficiently and everything works as it should. It's summer, but also tested the heating to make sure it works and it does. The unit itself is great, but two complaints... The instructions are the WORST I have ever seen - very brief and over-simplified; some steps aren't even addressed and you have to guess. Also, the support bracket that's included is a joke - a 2 inch L-bracket that's supposed to hold most of a 100+ lb unit extending past it?!! I had to buy a separate support kit that worked fine. The instructions should have made that a requirement. Overall, a nice product for a good price, as long as you're good at DIY.

PRODUCT POWER CORD IS NOT 6 FEET LONG like stated in overview. It is only 4ft 6in long. Please take this into account before purchase. This was a key factor in my choosing this unit, and I get home with it and the cord won’t reach my plug by 8 inches. Had to re wire my 230 volt plugin now I have a big hole in my wall.

My unit worked great for a year. As soon as the warranty ran out I started having problems. The compressor will not turn off when there is no power to the unit. I have to completely unplug it in order to get the compressor to stop running. Yesterday I turned the heater on for the first time this season. This morning the heater is not working. It is only blowing cold air.

The unit after installing is working well. I had read other reviews on this unit before buying so I was extra careful in it handling. I was disappointed in its condition when unpacked. I had the front sheet metal bent to the point it would not hold onto the front cover . I work with metal and was able to manipulate it back into position. It took several small adjustment as the metal is lightweight. Other than that, it works well.
