Although this LG is a 'window' unit, it was a perfect replacement for our 'thru-the-wall' 5,000 Btu Friedrich clunker. And SO much quieter!

Saved us from the heat!

Long story short, our whole house AC bit the dust just as we were coming into a massive heatwave.

Very quiet and effective cooling machine

We needed a quiet and efficient a/c for use in our bedroom, and this model seems to be filling the bill perfectly. It is actually the first LG product we have owned, and its fit and finish and performance have thus far impressed us greatly. For what it’s worth, we live in the humid corn fields of Iowa. This unit is replacing an older, well-built, but significantly louder Kenmore unit that will probably find its way to my home office.

SPECSHEET attached per request, spec says: 480 watts and 4.4 amps. We've been using window units for decades with LG usually being the best as far as longevity. We do leave them powered on most of the year as we've learned that leaving them idle and not cycling the fan motor leads to shorter bearing life in south Texas. In the "Energy Saver" mode, the fan cycles on and off every few minutes to draw room air over the temperature sensor. These are excellent for a bedroom even if you have a central air unit in case it fails OR during a power outage you can run these to cool one room with a very small generator(less fuel use) and be comfortable. Hurricanes Claudette and Harvey and our recent Green Energy FREEZE power outage= 4 weeks of an LG window unit + fridge + TV+internet+LED lights running on a small generator. ERCOT intentional shutoff of our power was two 5 hour duration periods. Generator ran essential and a few small electric radiator heaters.

Great purchase! Very happy!

Quiet! It is just what we needed living in South Texas. Our previous 5000 btu couldn't keep it cool even on high. We have never had this 6000 btu unit on high yet even though its been over 100 out. We live in a travel trailer. It fit perfect in the kitchen window.

Great unit!

After having a terrible experience with a GE window unit, I had to find one that was built and designed better. After much research, I arrived at this one. Even though Ive only had it installed for a day, Ive been impressed with everything about it. It comes with all sorts of things to help seal it up tightly to your window, which other units don't. Its built solidly with no ricketyness about it. I was completely shocked at how quiet it is! It cooled my room down quickly. I was in unaware that it had a humidity setting at the time I ordered it. I didnt even know window units had those! All in all I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I highly recommend it.

Easy to install , one flaw is plastic parts buzz the front plastic shell at top next to metal enclosure plus plastic filter cover buzzes and in some positions top air output vent can buzz. I had to put duct tape to stop it on top and pulled filter out and put two small strips in front main cover then replace filter. All is mostly quiet now. Also energy mode setting fan will turn on, then off then on and sometimes continue with full operation.

Great AC unit highly recom'd by Consumer Reports!

Bought this for my daughter who lives in NYC in a small apartment with no central air. It was delivered ahead of schedule. She set up in her room about two weeks ago and she claims it has "greatly increased her enjoyment and quality of life" having this a/c unit!! I am so happy it has been such a great addition for her!! I will update again once she has had it a little longer and there is more of a track record to report on. Thanks Overstock for another great product!!
