I would NOT buy this product again!

You know those videos of someone making a half-court shot while looking the opposite way? Then you find out they had to do 50-100 takes. Well this shelf is the same way! I would never store something in it that you would need quickly. When it was brand new it worked better but definitely not 100%. Now I usually give up trying to open it & come back & try some other day!

I like it a lot . Just next time wrap it up conceal it please

Pleased/displeased

After a short wait for shipment, I am pleased with my purchase. If the shelf was a couple of inches wider, it would have been much easier to install. The screws that were provided were broken off while screwing into the wall, even after drilling the pilot holes. Once installed, I also realized that it doesn't open unless you get the magnet placed AND you have to lift up on the bottom to release the lock. It does not work with just the magnet placement. Somewhat disappointed in that.

Nice looking shelf, works great once you figure out how to open it, the instructions could be a bit better on the opening process.

This is an interesting Way to secure valuable items. Definitely a good product

Already assembled!

This is a solid product! It came in already built which I was not prepared for! I was ready to work like a little Santa’s elf to put it together and that was done! Just buy bigger thicker screws and use those to replace the ones that come with it.

Quality in plane sight shelf!

Well constructed shelf with sturdy hardware. I like the finish. The drop down shelf is smooth. The light functions well but isn’t terribly bright. I don’t think I’d want a super bright light anyway so it is just the righ brightness for me. The magnetic locking mechanism is slightly finicky but works perfectly. The only thing is that my Milwaukee 12v hammer drill broke off the 2 fastener heads. I had to replace the fasteners with a stronger pair. I made sure to not over torque them and there wasn’t any impression or deformation in the wood so I know I didn’t over tighten them. I believe the fasteners may have been best hand tightened. But I’m lazy and used a hammer driver without pre drilling the wood stud. No biggie still 5 stars.

OK shelf for hiding valuables

Shelf is of decent quality for the $$... Mostly made of particle board, pre-drilled holes are set for 16 on center. Hardware i.e. hinges, piston appear to be of good quality. The interior light is powered by 2 CR-2032 batteries and is triggered by a properly paced pin to release the pressure switch to activate. There are a number of pins included to fit what ever you need to hide. I was able to accomodate a pistol and 2 mags. To open, place the included magnet in the self centering top of the shlef. Lift up slightly and the shelf should release. Consistent operation has been hit or miss (hence the 3 star rating) You can hide the magnet into a stuffed doll or chochkey.

Waste of money.

The lock did not operate and the light did not work.

Love This Self.

I love the concealment self look and it's ease of access. The internal setup is quick to accommodate a large frame 44 Mag or a small frame 380 auto or both.

Waste of money, the latch is not strong enough to keep it closed when empty let alone with a pistol in it

Great item!

As always quick shipping. Was impressed at the quality of product. Follow the instructions and it was no problem to install. Lock works great and the led light is nice. I picked the white model so it was a little less noticeable. Holds our handgun and extra ammo clips. Thanks Midway!

Looks Great and Works As Intended

Not a good product!

While the wood portion of this shelf is attractive, the latch portion is too weak to keep the hidden compartment closed. I ended up just using it as a shelf because the bottom portion would not stay shut.

Too good to be true

I purchased this shelf roughly a year ago, and in that time every single component of this shelf has failed, from the light to not staying shut all the way, to opening when my daughter bumped into it, I can keep going. I dealt with everything because it's already on my wall (had to buy beefier screws btw) and I needed it for its purpose, but the other day there was an armed suspect on the loose in my neighborhood and it took me about a full minute to open it and access my firearm as the mechanism was stuck. Thank God nothing happened to my family. In short, don't waste your money on this worthless junk. Spend the extra cash and get something better

Very cheep, made of particle board. Latch segment became unattached, allowing the shelf to open on it's own... not cool. Hinge screws pull through the particle board construction... required 100% retrofit to be ok. Ended up putting it in the garage...
