Numbers Fade Quickly
Locking mechanism works well but the paint on the combo numbers fade quickly in the weather and become illegible. Poor quality paint for a lock this expensive, in my opinion.
Master Lock 4 Number Padlock
It’s a good lock. The shank is a little longer than I expected or needed. However it works to my benefit.

Great quality and function. We use these on our farm to secure cattle gates, and they work flawlessly!! They also work well for securing trailer hitch locks, preventing tampering and theft.
Quality:very sturdy and heavy.
Affordable Quality
It's hard to find a good quality brass lock with a long shackle. Paired with a combination that's easily set to my preferred combo and made of corrosion resistant brass. I found it locally at West Marine and it was competitively priced compared to lesser quality steel variations.
good for outdoor use
I like these locks i think they are a good value for the price. I like the key that you can adjust the combination. we use them to lock trailers and overall they hold up well in the elements. They need some spray every few months and they will work fine.
Dials aren't as smooth as I would like
Lock seems solid. Extra long design fits my gate hardware better. I have always preferred locks where I can set my own combination. The dials are more difficult to spin then they should be. I may need to spray in some WD-40. Make sure you don't lose the little tiny key required to reset the combination. There are other locks that don't need that key but I couldn't find one at the store.
Great Lock With Routine Maintenence
We use these locks for the 20+ locks at our hunt club. They allow us to use one combination and reset every year to a new combination. When used outside they require annual (or sometimes more frequent) maintenance as dust and dirt will work its way into the innards. Some of our locks are 25 years old and still working well.
Not always the best under certain conditions
I have used these locks outside for the past 20 years in the intense heat and dryness of New Mexico. I can tell you these locks cannot take extreme weather. I have had to have them replaced under warranty several times. They worked well in Ohio weather conditions, as long as they were lubricated twice each year.
Does what I need it to!
Despite the microscopic print of the instructions, these combo locks, I bought 3, are easy to set. We have a few neighborhood kids, and an adult wanderer, in our area. Two of my locks are on my barn and one placed on my crawl space, just to keep honest folks out. These are not heavy duty and a solid hit from a sledge will open them, I am sure, but for the unprepared opportunist thief, they are a decent deterrent. Since I already carry a pocket full of keys, I chose these locks so no one has to carry some extra keys. Three people in my family and I used a number set we all know. Very convenient. Where I worked we used to have one of these locks on our main gate, so several employees could have the combo. To my knowledge, that same lock has been in use out in the weather for 15 years and still is operable. It is important to remember that no lock will keep out a professional thief.

I have not used the lock outdoors yet, but wanted to provide two pieces of information that might be helpful. First, I was unable to turn the reset key as instructed. As a few others have reported the key is flimsy and just twisted when I tried to turn it. I guessed correctly however that turning the key is unnecessary. You just need to hold the key with force (i.e. pushing the internal reset button) and reset the combination. The turning is purely to lock the key in place so you don't have to apply constant pressure. Secondly here are the letters on the combination First letters are BDMJPRSTLN Second letters are AEIOUYRTLH Third letters are ACDEORSTLN Fourth letters are DHKYRSTLNE
