A very defective product!

This lamp is a very very poor product! Parts broke while assembling. The metal is so cheap especially the threaded poles. We ordered two lamps and each lamp broke at a different spot than the other.

Junk.

Bought two for the office -- both lamps were broken at the base and could not be assembled. Entire metal chunks came off from the foundation as we attempted to put the lamps together.

Arrived too badly damaged to assemble

Alera Torchier Floor Lamp arrived quickly from Walmart secondary vendor, CPO outlets. While unpacking we found that the base piece coupler that 'accepts' the 1st upward pole extension was to badly damaged (smashed off to the side) to allow the upward pole to be attached. The lamp looked really nice and we'd have kept it if not for it being so badly damaged. How can they not 'see' this at the factory before sending it out?

Do Not Buy! Weak metal creates safety hazard.

I love the style and they were going to be perfect for what I am trying to accomplish. And then we discovered a major problem. The pole comes in sections that must be screwed together. The shade and base must also be screwed on. We found it extremely difficult to get the sections to match up. Especially the base to the pole and the pole to the shade. The base connection had broken so that the lining of the female end (in the pole) broke off and was attached to the male end but the base and pole would no longer connect. The metal had broken. We had purchased two of these lamps but decided not to even open the second, and have returned both. With metal that thin any part of those lamps could be a serious safety hazard. And it would be an unusable product.

Defective on receipt

Sadly it arrived broken. The threaded receiver for the light socket section had come loose and fallen into the top section of the upright. Could not screw the sections together because of this. Returned it.

Very disappointing

Very poor made - all the threaded tubes were very difficult to screw into place and the top light switch had no thread at all. It was made so poorly it could not be put together.

Poor construction and materials

Purchased 3 these in the past and loved them. But recently purchased 3 more and the quality of them has taken a steep dive. Ordered one and the threads on the top that connect the light fixture had broken off and the threads to connect the lamp segments were bent. Returned it and bought two more. Those had the same issues but also when screwing the lamps to the base the threads tore off like they were made of aluminum foil. The metal was very soft and crumbled. Overall the construction and materials are definitely poorer than the ones we bought years ago. After 3 tries would not recommend.

I needed a lamp for when I'm watching tv that either wouldn't reflect onto the tv screen, as would table lamps opposite the screen, or with the torchiere I had before which placed several feet to one side of it, the glass shade allowed me to see the hot spot from the incandescent bulb which was distracting, so what I needed was a lamp which directs all the light upward and would also provide a gentle ambient light, and the Alera torchiere did exactly that. The 3 way switch can use either incandescent or LED medium base bulbs, and in addition, the lamp is sturdy and should last for a long time.

Very nice item, easy to assemble.

The treaded section for the base and light bulb portions broke during assembly . Looks to be poor quality metal. This happened on both light fixtures I purchased. Returning both light fixtures for refund.

Love this Lamp!

My son loves this lamp! He has a loft bed so he can just reach over and turn it on without getting out of the bed! I am pleased with the look and height specifications for this lamp! I would prefer a cheaper price but its worth it in the end!

Don’t bother

This was by far the cheapest lamp that I have ever purchased. This was just going in a room for extra light, so I wasn’t expecting much. The base screw that the bottom pole screws into is cheap plastic and it started crumbling apart immediately when I was screwing in the bottom pole. Save yourself some time and buy something else.

This lamp is solidly built, does not tilt, and has a switch that isn't flimsy. I am glad that I can use a traditional 30-70-100 3-way incandescent bulb in it. I highly recommend this lamp.

Great lamp. Looks nice and is very sturdy so no fear of knocking it over. I am very pleased with the quality of the lamp for the money spent. Too bad it doesn't come in white because by daughter really likes it but she wants one in white.

Lamp arrived quickly and was able to assemble quickly. The lamp is well built and the base is fairly heavy, but wobbles slightly on carpet when you bump the lamp, so best in a corner away from children and pets. The CFL that included is a 3-way bulb, but not instant-on so it takes a minute or two to reach full lumens. If that's an issue with you then I would suggest replacing it with a 3-way LED. All in all, very pleased with purchase and would not hesitate to purchase another if the need arises.

Really like the style. I am happy I decided on the black. Looks impressive but not intrusive.
