The critter nation cage said I would get a 30.00 E gift card which I didn't get beings I didn't know I had to enter a promo code. Doing independent rescue that 30.00 would have helped with kitten or cat food. Then the shelf had a crack in the corner and the lady on the phone when I called said I would have to send the whole unit back to get the shelf replaced and it took an hour to put it together also it's very heavy. So if I want the shelf replaced I have to buy it from critter nation myself and she refused me to give me the 30.00 card beings the promo was over. I've never had a problem with chewy before. This 1 person was definitely rude and didn't help 1 thing

Happy buyer

This cage is bigger than I imagined! I’m incredibly happy to have more space available for my ratty’s to crawl and climb around in.

Perfect for my cats.

It’s easy to put together as long as you take inventory in the beginning and read the instructions thoroughly. Keep the box it comes in because that will help you to elevate for the first part of the assembly. Then after you put the wheels on of course you can set it on the ground. My husband does not like doing this type of thing so I do them by myself and I would highly recommend this product. I have two that have the pass-through utilized, two large cats in each. Their little boxes are downstairs and then they have hammocks upstairs and other sleeping areas. I have another where I have the pass-through blocked off by turning the plastic flooring around and that’s for two cats that each like their own bedroom and they’re pretty good size cats. They sleep in there at night and they love it. We find them there during the day just hanging out and it fits a good size large litter box and a hammock and they really love their little homes and I love it too.

New cages rust

I have 4 of these cages and combined them to have two 2-story cages for both of my chinchillas. I had 3 of these cages for years. My chinchillas are 13 and 8 so they’ve lasted a long time and I never had an issue with them until now. I just got a new one less than a month ago and I went to take the doors off (I disassemble the cages a few times a year to move them) and I had to use a mallet because the doors were already rusted. They are in a humidity controlled environment so I’m not sure why this happened in a month when my other ones aren’t rusted after years. I would’ve given 5 stars, if not for that, because I’m anticipating more rusting to come.

Well designed for rats & other chewers

It's bigger than we expected which is a huge plus. I also like that it has none of the design drawbacks that cheaper cages have. The bar spacing is good, bars are horizontal for climbing with no large gaps. The plastic trays are positioned on top of the bottom bars so that even if your critter does chew them, they won't escape & if they fall it isn't such a hard landing. The large doors make it easier to clean & easier to have bonding time with new critters. Ramps are wide & shelves are adjustable. The wheels are a nice asset, even though they're cheaply made & the brakes aren't great.

Chinchilla approved

First off- I received the order really quickly! Ordered on a Saturday morning and received it on Monday. Got it all put together which was decent.

meh

Overall a pretty sturdy cage compared to its competitors. But the amount that I paid for this is entirely unacceptable with the amount of flaws it has. Incredibly hard to put together, nothing is labeled, metal color is chipping in areas, rubber type material is falling off around the corners of the cage, only one door on the top opens. Super annoying.

Gaps & Shallow Tray = No Bueno

I bought this as a McMansion for my Guinea pig, and while she likes the open space, and I liked how easy it was to put together by myself and use daily, it’s become quite a pain to have. The tray is so shallow, that if she runs, bedding goes flying all over the place. Wouldn’t be that bad if the tray fit perfectly at the bottom - it doesn’t. There’s just enough of a gap around the perimeter, that when she backs up to use the bathroom, pee and poop go between the tray and the gap. I’m trying to figure out if I can have a friend hand-make a tray that is deeper and fits the bottom perfectly so there isn’t a gap. I’ll change out her Aspen bedding for fleece + disposable pet liners, but that gap will still cause issues anyways. Total bummer.

Amazing Cage For Rats

This cage is LARGE. Being on wheels is so handy for moving it around. Putting it together was fairly simple, but you will absolutely need a rubber mallet/hammer wrapped in a rag to fit it all together. Well constructed and everything came in good shape. Will be keeping this cage for years to come! Only downside is, it won’t be the easiest to take apart to move, so best if it plans on staying in the house you built it in. Bedding also will be getting in the floor around the cage, a cheap solution to this is a large cement mixing tub to replace the bottom pan. Very happy with this cage, and the full size doors are SO convenient.

You NEED to Read This

This cage gets 5 stars for the overall size, seeing the pictures/videos does not do it justice in most cases. Chewy' rep Pam was fantastic & helped with every question I had & the delivery was Fast! Now for the explanation of only 4 stars; The box came in great shape, opening it was difficult, especially if you want to make sure that if there is something wrong you can return it. Contrary to not needing tools stated on the box, that is a LIE! The Philip Head screwdriver "key" is a PAIN IN THE BUTT to hold & you WILL NEED a Rubber Mallet because the square metal pieces tend to get bent even with the plastic cap/stopper in them making sliding the peg parts into them off. The instructions are simple to understand.

Great product, excellent wide opening doors making it easy to clean. Good size for a small group of rats and versatile in its construction (layers can be removed, the cage can be extended etc.) All I could say is that a deeper base could be added. Most buyers need to construct their own with custom cut perspex panels, as in my picture. This costs £100+ and can be fiddly! It would be great if accessories/a base tray were created that was at least 30cm deep.

We like the ferret nation version better

This one has horizontal thin bars so it's hard to see our guinea pig through it and the ferret nation version is better because it has vertical bars. We also had to hammer parts of this cage to straighten out bent parts that didn't line up. Hands down though Midwest ferret nation and this cage are awesome. We love the 2 stories and the shelf underneath and how it has wheels and its easy to clean.

Glad i only have to build it once

several pegs and holes do not line up. can’t get the thing put together. im gonna have to drill out the holes and hope it doesn’t rust in those spots. for $300 i expected better build quality. just the assembly alone i would not recommend this item. it’s huge and heavy and inconvenient to ship back so im gonna have to make it work i guess.

Quality is slipping

We have purchased several of these over the past several years and were always happy. When I read reviews saying the quality had gone down I could hardly believe this. However, it's true. Several parts were machined extremely poorly and created havoc trying to put the cage together. We have to call the company to obtain replacement parts so that we can finish. Will be looking for a new company to buy from.

Broken Chinchilla Leg

The ramp provided has no "floor" layer, it is just bars. And these bars are not even close together enough to not get your animal's foot snagged. My poor chinchilla fell victim to this, got his leg snagged and is now limping around. Please if you get this cage, do not let your pet walk on the ramp!

Love this!

I think my cage arrived in 2 days, super fast. I got the double critter nation, I love it, my rats love it. It's huge and roomy and so easy to clean. Because of the way the doors open and the trays pull out it makes it so much faster and easier. This cage is heavy and made of good material. I'll probably never have to buy another one. Thank you!

Quality has deteriorated massively

Nothing about this is good, from the delivery to the cage itself. It’s very obviously been used before. Not just like it came kinda scuffed up from the factory or something. Its paint is chipping, it’s bent so far out of shape it won’t even fit together properly, it’s dirty(…hopefully it was dirt anyway) and sticky. Yeah. Sticky. With what, you ask? I don’t know. And I’m sure I don’t want to know.

Excellent cage

Just the best. Perfect cage for rats of all sizes. Plenty of opportunities to customize the cage, bars not wide enough for babies to get out of. The front opening doors are probably the best feature, making are and maintenance easy.

Great quality and tons of room!

I really like the overall quality of the cage. The bars are the correct direction and spacing. I love that I can stack them and close off an entire section to clean, or if I had a sick animal I had to separate, or if I was introducing a new pet slowly to the others. Very convenient.

Great cage!

The cage is at first glance very well constructed, it goes together nicely and my two female rats love it. Definitely invested in the urine/splash guards strictly because they only like to mark at the sides of the tray and it goes on the floor :/ This cage is great for box-trained animals. I also love the door.
