Simple, yet elegant. Spacious. Lovin' it!
One problem, missing hardware. It was however re-sent by sellers. Otherwise, I couldn't be happier. Unable to furnish pictures, but the item looks exactly as advertised.
Better quality than I had expected. Sturdy, good looking also. Drawers function very well. Smooth with no sticking. Definitely worth the purchase price. Would recommend to anyone. Definitely a 5 star product.
Pretty Nice!
This cabinet was easy to adjust to meet my needs. I adpated two cabinets to become one and used them as a custom built in. My only complaint is the drawers are picky to where they need to be placed, you have to switch them around until you find where they fit and look good. When the drawers are placed in the wrong spot, the gap between them can be too big or crooked. It is heavy duty and pretty solid, and takes paint well. Don't over tighten those screws, they will easily shred apart!
We picked the item up from the store, and put it together at home. When putting it together, we noticed a large gash right on the very top/front of the dresser, as well as 4-5 bright yellow spots right on top of the dresser (it’s a white dresser - so very evident). I tried using everything to remove the bright yellow spots, including Magic Clean Eraser, however nothing would take them out. Very disappointed.
It is very cheaply made. Price was inexpensive, though. First off, the package included two left sides and not a left and a right. Calling about this with your phone tree was difficult. At one point we were forwarded to the overhead garage door department and told to call back later. We noticed on the installation list there was a number to call. We did, and a replacement part was sent that took about nine more days to receive. We were working on the piece on its back at that point, and uprighting it literally broke the piece in the front toe kick in half. It was decided to just get a board and paint it. Then we realized we had the piece from the wrong side mistake and cut another. That worked and matched perfectly. The top had an unfinished bottom side that could have been painted. Sitting in a chair, the unpainted natural color bottom of the top surface was glaring. We bought paint and painted it black. Looks okay now. The drawers are flimsy and are fit only for feather weight contents. All in all, we should have paid more and gotten a decent product.
Look like an expensive dresser.
It arrived quickly, box in good shape, heavier than I thought! It took about 5 hours to put together, but the instructions were clear. I did not have a drill, so I had to use a manual screwdriver. It's really a very nice piece of furniture, well built, looks like an expensive dresser. I would recommend.
5 Stars
I love his simple but sleek storage piece!! The instructions for assembly were easy to follow, and it's very sturdy and heavy! I'm actually using this partially a my jewelry armoire ! I'm going to spray paint it the rose gold color mixed with a little silver paint, It's going to look so cute! This is a nice chest and I would absolutely recommend ! Very happy with my purchase. Addendum- here are pics of my chest painted up with colors of metals. You can see inside the drawer too, Very sturdy.
I love my chest
I am so happy with this chest. I got it in white. I don't expect much from a "assemble it yourself" and this was high quality. I am a 73 year old petite woman and can't get in the floor too much. I assembled it by myself (after have the delivery guy carry it into my living room). It took me about 3 hours (not in one sitting, too old for that). I pulled a chair over and bent over to assemble. I am sooo proud. And those drawer close so well! Read the directions and pay close attention to the pictures.. Little things like the grooves, which way the holes are positioned. I laid out my peice exactly like the picture. Also Make sure the arrow on the cams are pointing the right direction and the cross hatch is up. I didn't make a single mistake except on a cam and that was an easy fix as long as you insert it on the side opposite from the drawer slides. All in all this is an ace product!
Great for the price. Some tips on assembly
While this is not likely to be a piece of furniture that gets handed down through generations, it is well made for the price. I found it pretty easy to put together and only got confused twice. The side bars at the front stick out a bit weirdly (probably for added stability), and I was trying to make those pieces line up with the side of the dresser, and I put the top bar (above the top drawer) on backwards, which was a real pain to try to pry back off to turn around. Everything lined up easily and the hardware was really easy to work with. Having a screwdriver bit on a hand drill made it all go fairly quickly. I think I had it together in about 2-3 hours and I'm no carpenter.
Went together easily and looks nice
I built this thing in about 2 hours, having some experience with kits like these.
Not the color I ordered / shown in picture.
I ordered the "Cherry" color with the "Cherry Finish, Lacquer" as described. It is not a Cherry color by any means and there is no lacquer finish. It is contact paper and more like a walnut color. My husband who is very familiar with tools and a great handyman did not have a problem putting it together although it took almost 4 hours at a leisurely pace to get it assembled. Someone who is not so good at this might have a tough time. Some of the "contact paper" on one of the drawer fronts was peeled off a bit. It's very heavy and pretty sturdy. It was delivered fast. It is not the color I ordered but inexpensive and not worth the hassle to send it back.
DO NOT DRIVE THE WOODEN DOWELS WITH A HAMMER!!!!
Nice sturdy chest, but OMG the assembly. I have one major complaint. The assembly instructions call for straight and phillips screw drivers, a hammer, and a drill motor and drill bit. Not sure where the drill motor/bit was ever intended to be used, I didn't use one. More aggravating was the call for a hammer. Now I have assembled a lot of this type of furniture and built my own in which wooden dowel rods are used. In these cases the dowels are usually a bit of interference fit and always get glue applied and are tapped in with a hammer. In the case of this dresser there were four wood dowels to be installed and two plastic dowels. The plastic dowels specifically called for the use of the hammer to fully install those dowels in the top molding and then the instructions specifically called for NOT using the hammer on the top molding to install it into the dresser top. The assembly instruction for the four wood dowels (1st step in the process) showed the location, but gave absolutely no instructions on what tools (no specific prohibition on using a hammer) or if glue were to be used. I, thinking of all my other applications, tapped the dowels in with a hammer. Much to my aggravation the dowels were apparently supposed to only be placed int he holes by hand (no interference fit whatsoever) because after I tapped the dowels in I turned the two dresser sides over and found the dowels had driven through the particle board forcing the pieces to rupture through the melamine finish on the outer surface of the dresser sides! I WILL NOW HAVE TO REPAIR THE RUPTURED MELAMINE FINISH ON THE SIDES. MORE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS OF THE WOODEN DOWEL INSTALLATION PROCESS ARE NEEDED WITH CAUTION INSTRUCTIONS MUCH LIKE ARE PROVIDED FOR NOT OVER TIGHTENING THE SCREWS. (And for gosh sakes, why was a drill motor/bit listed in the required tools?) Could have been such a nice chest overall, now I am left with an arduous repair process and leaves me wondering if I can match the color adequately.
This unassembled 6-drawer Chest was daunting, when I opened the heavy carton and saw the number of pieces I had to put together. I felt like just sending the whole thing back; however my wife said she'd help by organizing all similar parts together, so it might make some sense. It took us all evening to assemble. In the end, we have a nice storage chest for our bedroom and we can proudly say, "we pretty much made the thing".! The drawers are on metal tracks and, if you do not follow directions to the "T", this is not for you. But if you like to challenge your ability to pull off a project - go for it! The cabinet is very solid, heavy and should last. Draws are a "smooth pull" and don't fall out.
Great Quality, Easy To Assemble, Definitely Recommend
Some people have reported difficult assembly, and poor fitting parts. Ours was a breeze to assemble, but does take 2-3 hours. First, take a couple of cupcake pans and sort all the parts into neat compartments. This helps you pick the right parts for each step of assembly. Lots of repetition - six identical drawers, left & right sides of main cabinet with identical fittings, six pairs of color coded slides -- red on right, blue on left! Well thought out. Solid wood back, not just a piece of thin cardboard. I actually mounted it flush on the wall, on the upper edge of the baseboard in our master bedroom closet by using a few screw through the backing into the wall studs. Drawers roll wonderfully.
First things first: this thing is HEAVY. My legs and arms still hurt from trying to carry this package upstairs to my room. I ended up giving up and just took the pieces up one by one. Second thing: this is hard to put together. It's just me, myself, and i so i had to put this together myself and it took me OVER 6+ hours and my drawers aren't even fully done because i honestly need a hand drill to drill in certain screws. I'm sure its easier for people who have more than one person helping them or for people who are used to building things but for me, a 20 year old, this was hard. I can't open my drawers without them falling apart so i guess my next purchase is getting a drill or something. Oh, and be careful with some of these pieces as the black screw (the one that has that small black twisting thing on it, you'll see it if you buy this) WILL get stuck inside the drawer even if you screw on the piece tightly. Just....if you can, try to get a dresser that's ALREADY built or at least already has the drawers built or something.
So far so good!
The dresser turned out much as it appears in the pic. One criticism of the finished product is that the underside of the top overhang is unfinished, so looks cheap when viewed from a nearby chair. All the necessary and numerous components arrived in the kit. I laid them out carefully by type and made sure all the necessary tools were at hand before beginning assembly with my handy helper. It was best to have two sets of both hands and eyes to ensure following the instructions carefully. If you do all this, it goes together neatly and quite quickly. I recommend installing the provided stabilizer to prevent it toppling forward as it IS top-heavy (and I know my rambunctious grandchildren). I have only been using it for a month or so; if it stands the test of time I'll give a new review.
Nice but not Great.
Is it pretty? Yes. Is it as described? Yes. On a level of 1 to 10 the difficulty putting it together? (1 being the easiest), I would said 6 or 7. What a pain in the tail! There are a lot of pieces and I had no drill so I hand screwed everything together and I am pretty sure that I heard Angels sing when I screwed that last screw in. Will it last? I think it will for what I will use it for (supplies for rehab) so it will not be used every single day. Would it last in a kids room? No.
Very, Very Nice
I ordered this for my wife to use in our bedroom closet. It was delivered quickly and in good condition. The shipping box was quite sturdy and everything inside the box was in good condition as well. Having done many RTA projects in the past the first thing I did was layout all of the parts. No issues here. Then read through the instructions. Not the best but far from the worst. The shelf sides were marked as were the drawer slides. You start by putting the box together. At this point it becomes very clear that a power screwdriver is going to be a major help. The box went together easily as I noted the parts to be of good quality especially when the low cost is taken into account. Next the drawer boxes were assembled. Again, no issues, just take your time. The drawer bottom was a little thin but not a problem unless you plan on putting very heavy items in them. Total build time was one hour fifty minutes. Your time will vary with experience. Bottom line, a very nice dresser for a bargain price. Highly recommend.
Craft supply storage
I was looking for something to store my craft materials in since my craft room is also our guest room. I wanted my crafting materials stored out of sight so that the room would be neater. I ordered this dresser and it is perfect! I assembled it all myself ( 59 year old woman, 5’4”) I decided first to inventory and separate all of the hardware. Definitely a step I recommend doing! It was helpful to acquaint myself with all the different kinds of screws, pegs, etc. Next I skipped ahead and decided to assemble all the drawers while watching tv. :) I assembled the “body” of the dresser last. I found the directions clear and easy to follow. This dresser is very heavy so assemble the body in the room you are placing it in. (I learned this the hard way...) It stores a lot! My only complaint is the base of each drawer is not very thick. For my use it’s fine but not sure about storing very heavy items in it. It looks nice and fits perfectly in the space I wanted it to. Good dresser for the price!
4 Stars
Looks exactly like the picture. Sits perfectly in the small space that I intended it for. Actually holds a bit more than I expected it to BUT heed the warnings. This thing is a PAIN to put together. I had a blister on my hand for over a week after I built this which isn't surprising considering it took four hours to complete. Granted I do not own an electric drill which definitely would have come in handy. The drawers took some finagling in order for the pieces to all fit together. A couple of the pieces arrived damaged but I used some gorilla glue. Would have rated it 3 stars but the price point pushes it to 4. If you don't want to put in the labor than up your price point and put it toward an already assembled piece. Again, just to give you some context, I have a lot of patience and actually enjoy putting together IKEA furniture (it's like grown up legos!) but oh boy, never again. My boyfriend actually commented on how much he liked the piece and thought maybe we should order another one which I quickly answered NO!
