Easy to assemble, excellent design. I had a "stainless steel" grill prior to this which rusted out. In this grill they have used stainless in key areas that corroded on the previous grill like the drip pan (which is fully removeable for cleaning).
Bangerd up!
Banged up is the best way to describe this grill. The ship box was fine but the two ends, the infrared and the burner, both had bent corners. My guess is that they were dropped before they were put into the box. I was able to bend them back into shape so unless you look closely you cannot see the damage. Beyond that the grill heats up fast. I have only used it 4 times so I'm still learning the intricacies and techniques to using a new grill. Ask me in a three months how I like cooking on the grill and you'll get a different answer.
GUARANTEED TO PLEASE YOU !!!
We love to grill 12 months a year. Please take it from us that this is the most fabulous grill we have ever owned and that is after many of years using a high end Weber Grill. The grill is easy to use, gets to temp so fast. Having two side burners are fabulous. The sear burner is to die for if you are a beef lover. We celebrated the new grill by searing two $41 per pound filets and held our breath and crossed our fingers and were a nervous wreck to put the steaks on the sear. Just totally extraordinary. The steaks were perfect. The most fabulous, perfectly cooked steak. Tonight we are going to use the grill to sear a beautiful rib eye. This grill at a little over $400 (we paid extra to have it put together) one third the cost of the high end Weber's we have purchased. Weber can't hold a candle to our MONUMENT.
Monument Grill Review
We purchased this item about a month ago and added the extra charge to have it assembled. We have been waiting for someone to come out and assemble. The person who is to assemble it has had car problems which is understandable but 2 or 3 times and it gets old. I contacted Home Depot and they provided us with the # of The Home Depot Pro Referral. We have been in touch with someone via text and he wants almost double what Home Depot wanted. We have no choice but to pay it. Disappointed.
Great grill at a great price. The Monument Grills I selected proved to be an excellent choice when shopping for a new grill. I researched other brands for features as well as price. This grill has everything I was looking for and is a great value. I had a couple questions about the grill and their customer service was easy to reach and very helpful. I grilled a rib-eye steak to celebrate our new grill. Searing was something I tried with other brand of grills and was never able to get that good quality sear. First time with the Monument Grills was so easy. I wish I had taken a photo to share, the sear was restaurant quality and was what I was looking for. The 4 burner grill heats up quickly, and is easy to control for nice, even cooking on all the meats we've tried. Clean up of the grill is also easy especially with the removable bottom grill tray. Just remove the bottom tray from the back of the grill and clean it, no more collection of burnt pieces at the bottom of the grill. I added a Monument Grills rotisserie and am looking forward to using it soon. I believe a lot of thought and planning went in to design and manufacture of the grill with the goal of providing great features at an reasonable price.
Highly Recommend
I am loving this grill so far. The grill heats up fast and has plenty of space. I have not needed to use the side burner yet but I really like the sear station. I find that doing a reverse sear (at end of cook time) gives steaks a nice sizzle and crispiness that I couldn`t get with my prior barbecue. I added a propane tank gauge ($11) to make it easy to know when I am close to empty without having to pull the tank out to determine it. Consumer Reports shows Monument has one of the highest rankings for satisfaction as well as good performance and I am very happy I bought it.
Turned out to be a pretty nice grill. I’ve used it around 10 times so far. Very good design - there is a slide out tray under the burners which spans the entire width of the grill which makes it easy to clean. And I need to clean it pretty often because I keep it in an enclosed porch and I don’t want to attract pests. It took me a couple hours to put it together but it wasn’t difficult. The only issue is the igniter under the searing side burner doesn’t work, but it’s easy enough to light with a butane grill lighter.
Components rust out much too soon
I purchased Monument grill model 17842 through The Home Depot in July of 2020 which we use year-round. It went together easily and cooked quite well but it rusted out too soon. The grease tray rusted through after 20 months, then again after another 20 months, the thermometer stopped working after about a year, the lights failed after two years and the igniter, which only worked intermittently after the first few months, became completely useless, despite frequent battery changes, in year three (and lighting it without the igniter by using a lighter or a propane torch is very awkward). The flavor bars rusted out in year three as well. I take good care of my grill (and all my things) so I attribute the poor results to poor design. My previous grill was a Weber lasting ten years which still was working well when we moved. My next grill will be a Weber too. Monument has been a disappointment and I will not buy anything from them again.
Dangerous
Purchased my Monument Grill from Home Depot May 31, 2023. I’m a 71 year old woman, so I paid someone knowledgable to help me put the grill together. On October 23rd I turned on the gas to heat the BBQ, something exploded underneath, the burner knob was already melted in the off position, so I turned off the propane tank. I then had to use a fire extinguisher to make sure the melted rotisserie motor, hedge and fence were all safe from fire. No response back from the company.
Great stainless steel grill
It took my husband about two hours to assemble the grill. All the parts were included and lined up nicely. I like that it is stainless steel except for the grates. The external side burner is very handy for cooking a side dish. He loves the four hooks on the left side for hanging utensils. The grill maintains it temperature well and I love that the propane tank is hidden inside the doors. The grease pan is larger than out previous grill. It was a nice touch that a rotisserie was included, although we haven't used it yet. Overall, you can't find a comparable grill for the money!
This is not about Wayfair. Wayfair was great. But Monument as a company is horrible. 3 days I have tried to get a hold of them. ( During normal business hours) Phone call to company literally says no one is available to answer try again later and hangs up on you. I would never buy anything ever again from MONUMENT. Wayfair great.. Monument Horrible is a understatment. BEWARE... You buy there product and anything wrong or needs replaced. They will not be there for you. Horrible quality. Grill is literally been covered and used lightly and phot shows results. Company said normal and not covered under warranty. I would never buy from this company again......
Hits all the notes.
This was a really good buy. Solid grill, looks great and has good surface area and the added searing grill and side burner are a big plus for a mid priced grill. First cookout was a big success.
Great Value...Proud to say I'm a Monument Man.
When I needed a new grill (my big name brand grill needed an overhaul after 12 years), I looked around and I was shocked at the prices for a grill from that brand with side burner, sear station and good quality - easily $1100 plus. So the hunt began across usual places...On Amazon, I came across this grill and after doing some internet searches, I knew this was the grill for me...
Buy this grill... it's fantastic!
I had an issue with my former grill getting slightly too hot and catching on fire as a result of greasy burger patties dripping onto my wood chip box. I was looking for another grill that would be versatile and not break the bank. I had narrowed my search down to a 6 burner nexgrill at home depot... or a 4 burner grill from amazon. I could go to home depot to look and touch the nexgrill, but I searched for reviews and found one basically saying that the nexgrill was a great grill... but it wasnt the monument. So I went with the monument sight unseen. I also purchased the wood chip box designed to fit between burner tubes, the griddle insert that fits perfectly in place of a grate, and I splurged on the rotisserie for it. I have used all of the extras. It has been a great grill these past 7 months. It was easy enough to assemble. The 4 casters on the bottom make it easy to move. My biggest complaint is the back wall of the cabinet is a half sheet of metal which means that if it's not pushed against the house, my dog likes to find the grease trap and clean it out. (Maybe that should be in the dog review, not the grill review). All that to say, this grill by itself would be well worth the money. The extra features and accessories have made it that much more fun to cook dinners.
Rust Bucket
Paint peeling, same as another reviewer, plus more. My grill is less than a year old and is always under a covered porch and never gets wet, so the fact that the side shelves are already rusting is odd. They are obviously not made of stainless steel. Also, the lid is partially stainless but the sides of the lid are painted. No reason to do this other than to save a few bucks. Unfortunately, the paint that Monument uses is not sufficiently heat resistant. News flash, Monument: Grills get hot, use a paint that can take the heat! Failure to do so is, IMHO, such a fundamental flaw that I have to give this a one-star. Within a few months, mine had bubbled up and peeled off. Now it's a rusty mess. The drip shield pan is also a rusty mess with pin holes already, even though I clean it religiously. Monument has denied any warranty coverage and pointed out that their warranty specifically excludes rust and peeling paint, so they obviously know that this is a problem for their grills. I do use my grill regularly - several times per week, but isn't that what they're for? I figure I'll be lucky to get one year of use out of this before it's so badly rusted that I will have to throw it out. Bad product. Poor warranty. STAY AWAY!!
Lucy, you’ve got some grilling to do!
When we moved cross country, there was no room for my beloved Weber Genesis grill, so the neighbor got a great grill for cheap and I needed to look for another grill to use during retirement.
Excellent Grill not just for price paid
So superior to any grill in its price range! Beats out my old $799 Webber by miles...features, operations, quality construction. I researched grills costing from $400 to $900 for a month+ and this was the winner hands down. The reg burner is large and operates to spec, the infrared searing burner is great and an excellent addition. 4 burners on main with 60,000 BTU's is just crazy....do not cook on high unless it is for short periods as it gets to 450+ degrees in less than 2 minutes! NICE! Med to Med-High is perfect but depends on what and how you want to cook what you are cooking. Tempered glass window in lid is AWESOME! Grill surface is large and you can shut down half the burners and cook slow off the heat...cant wait to try smoking in it!! The one really funny thing is Lowe's has Monument Grills on the web site BUT NOT IN STORES for display and was hard for store to find me this one???? Monument is all Solid Stainless, Better features, Designed better again than grills costing twice as much? They SHOULD be readily available...?? But Christina the AGM of the Westbury, NY store was great at locating and getting it built and delivered!! Thank You Christina!! (a Lowe's bonus that these services are FREE!!) Have Lowes build it to avoid some of the issues like dented parts etc...they do a great job!
The grill looks great and with the fancy knobs that light up, but be aware it’s made extremely cheap. Don’t waste your money on this grill get yourself a charbroiler/Nextgrill it’s the same and cheaper. Reading all the great reviews online about this grill and I’m disappointed with the reviews on quality and the longevity. I’ve owned several barbecues from Weber, charbroiler, Master Forge and kitchenAid. This Monument grill is made just like a charbroiler, nextgrill (flimsy CHEAP metals). I’ve had this monument grill for now 1 week 8/8/20. It cooks good on high or low heat through out the entire box(that’s it). I’ve cooked steaks, chicken, pork chops, vegetables and several other food on it. I just did my first clean on the barbecue a week after cooking on it and I have several complaints which I’m not too happy about. The Flame tamers are already rusting and will definitely not last, the stainless steel on the barbecue Doors, hood, side burner lids, everything that’s stainless is showing specs of rust already even after cleaning it after every use. I know how to take care of grills, I still have my two burner weber that I’ve had now for over 7 years and still works like champ. Im posting several pictures for everybody to see. I honestly don’t think this barbecues gonna last me one year. Going to see if Mayfair will take it back after owning it for a week. If you buy this grill “make sure you get the extended warranty“...
