Beautiful Rug! Great price!
Beautiful rug! It is a bit hard to vacuum due to the chunky jute. I would recommend for low traffic areas and areas without pets. Has a bit of an odor at first but that quickly dissipates.
Heavy, scratchy and loops coming out
This rug is HEAVY. You need at least two strong people to move it. I mostly like it but I will share that some of the loops have come out and that happened fairly quickly. Also, it is rough so you can't lay down on it (ex. if you want to stretch). It looks great but I probably would not buy it again. The photo I uploaded shows the loop coming loose.
Awesome texture on bare feet!
I absolutely love this rug. I love the texture, I love the chunkiness of it, I love the length (I bought a runner). The only con is that my pets (who are housetrained and never pee on rugs) kept marking this rug. I suspect it was from the "earthy" smell it had. Who knows where or what the jute has been through or sourced from! I liked the smell. We've had a year or so and you don't notice it now. I sprayed some citrus/clove oil on it and the pets left it alone after that. Update: About 4 yrs later. It has started to unravel in spots and is shedding tiny particles that look and feel like sand.

I did not like this rug. The jute sheds terribly. I have asthma and allergies and it gave me terrible breathing problems. It took me several days to figure out why until I realized that the rugs were the only things that changed in my home. When you roll them up there is what looks like a sand pile of fibers under them after a very short amount of time. I don't know if all jute rugs are like this but I can't risk buying any more like this. They look beautiful but are impractical for me unfortunately.
Very Disappointed
This is the second set of Safavieh rugs we have purchased from Overstock. We loved the first set and but it was time to replace them. These rugs were MUCH thicker and darker in color. The edges are thicker than than the rug and could cause someone to easily trip . We tried to flip it over pit the grooves between rows are so thick, that the dining chair leg gets caught and you can't scoot your chair in and out. I want to return and exchange them, but the cost is so high to ship , that it would be cheaper to buy new ones. Not happy.
Must have rug it beautiful, well made, comfortable
I absolutely love this rug! I needed a rug to match my industrial meets modern farm house theme I was going for in my living room and, omg this rug really made my living room pop! The rug color is perfect as it goes with everything! I was surprised how much it brings out the color theme in my living room! The material is comfortable and well made so it won't fall apart/get stringy everywhere! I highly highly recommend this rug and if you're thinking about getting it, get it! you won't regret it!

UPDATE: have had rug about 6-7 weeks now. I still love the rugs! There are a couple *watch outs." -There is a lot of dust to clean underneath but this is to be expected with natural rugs and I clean under the rugs regularly anyway. They are heavy to move about, but manageable. -I made the mistake of using a higher-suction vacuum cleaner over them which has pulled fibers in a couple places. After tying off the loose ends, I started using my little dust devil sweeper - this has worked perfectly to keep the rugs clean without fraying them. -I have found they wear well even in the high-traffic areas I'm using them (kitchen and hallway). -I have pets and have not noticed any bad pet behavior with this rug (ie my dog/cat are not attracted to this rug to chew, pee, etc-no worries!) -I did not notice a odor aside from a mild natural grassy smell that lasted only a day or two. -very thick - not a concern where I have the rugs placed Bottom line-I still live this rug! If you are looking for a budget-friendly, natural and versatile *jute* rug, I still highly recommend. Just make sure you use a sweeper that will not pull too much on the fibers! Original Review: I love this rug!!!!! I purchased two - one for my kitchen area and one for my hallway over dark wood flooring that shows everything dropped! First, it shipped super quickly. Second, The quality is great! With rugs like this you are always worried about how hard/scratchy they are, especially in a hallway or kitchen where bare or socked feet may frequent. This rug is versatile for many designs and is actually super soft on the feet. Firm in structure but soft in feel. Even my 15-year-old son approves (and if you have a 15-year-old you know how difficult that approval is to get!). We have joked about walking up and down the hallway for foot massages. Overall: quick shipping. Design exceeded expectations with firm but soft material used and potential to use in many styles (beach house, modern-ish, shabby chic, farmhouse, modern, eclectic, etc etc). Definitely recommend.
I LUV THIS RUG!!
After reading many of the reviews I was hesitant to order. My rug arrived sooner than expected which was a nice surprise. I purchased the rug for my kitchen, where most of our family's time is spent. The rug is very heavy so you will need help. After we rolled the rug out OMG BEAUTIFUL!. No smell, no dirt, not metal rug tools, no moisture, just perfect. The rug is thick which I should have paid attention to because it blocks my back door. We have to flip the corner in order to open the door. A small inconvenience compared to how it looks in my kitchen. After we laid the rug I immediately vacuumed it without any problems. The thickness is so comfy under your feet, soft. I would definitely order again for my bedroom!! 8x10 natural.
I'd buy again
This has really neutralized our living room. We have tile that I am not a fan of and putting this down really brought in a nice, neutral element and allowed me to begin with a clean slate for re-decorating (I went pretty big and covered most the tile!). It does shed and when my boys wrestle on it they do have Jute fibers on their clothes. I would still buy again. A few loops were pulled up but I was able to tease them back into the rug so they didn't stick out. It does have a smell to it but I didn't think it was offensive- just natural smelling, like cut wood or something IMO. I wouldn't say that it is soft, it can be a bit scratchy. The chunky weave is actually massaging but I wouldn't want to be barefoot on it (we don't wear shoes in the house but we do wear socks). Hope this is helpful to others. All in all, I'd buy again without hesitation.
Thick and gorgeous
Love them so much . Better than I expected I order 11/15 size . It is gorgeous. It is very heavy to carry up . Need 3 people to carry up . I saw the review about before purchase and it helped a lot to decide. Thanks . Last few month I been order 6 more . Love them very much . They cover all my carpet . This pandemic time I can not fix wood floor instead I put rugs Over my carpet . I am so happy with it looks . I made a wrong color once and when I reached out customers service . They are very helpful. I end up kept my mistake rug . It is different colors but I end up love them . They have many different size to add where place need to be covers . When I move I will take this rugs so I am very happy with decisions to use my rugs . It was inexpensive but I am very happy with results.

I tolerated this rug in my living room for a few years (layered beneath another patterned area rug) but I am sad to say it wasn't a great investment. The fibers frayed often and shed all over our clothes. The only positive is the thickness of the jute - it feels nice under your feet compared to other natural fiber varieties. I couldn't fathom reselling it given the shape it was in when it was replaced, it literally went straight to the dump. We don't have pets and we aren't hard on our rugs by any stretch. To be fair it is a nice color and looked nice for a decent while but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for and I wish I had purchased one of the higher quality jute rugs I had been eyeing at the time!
Solid rug
I really like this rug. We ordered the 8x8 to put in our front entrance. Needed something to match a hallway rug nearby, as well as something that could hold up to heavy traffic. This rug (in natural fiber) is a pretty dark tan color w/ mottled darker fibers woven throughout. The 'nubby' texture of the knots is a little hard on bare feet but will likely hold up over time. We run a robot vacuum over it 5x/wk. That has caused some of the knots to unravel and stick up about 1 inch. I like the rough-hewn look that gives the rug.

Having hardwood floors I wanted a simple and elegant area rug to protect and highlight the natural beauty of the wood. This rug did both, with the added bonus of being simple, attractive, versatile, durable, and extremely soft. Juxtapose against dark stained wood floors -- this jute rug is a nice contrast - without distracting for the beauty of the hardwood floors. Weave is tight, the rug is thick, and surprising soft for a natural fiber area rug. It flattened after about a day or two, and unlike previous reviewers - I did not notice the initial smell other reviews referred to. Was, lucky enough to get the rug on further mark down as -- as Overstock was having a 20% oft sale that day -- so in the end, I got the rug i wanted, it's wonderful, and it was a value added purchase because. Highly recommend.

I loved this rug when I first got it. It was thick and chunky and looked very cool. I used two layers of the thin, rubber rug pads underneath to keep the rug in place in my kitchen and also protect my wood floors. I didn't realize just how much dust and dirt comes off of natural jute though so be aware of that if you decide to purchase. Every week, I would lift up the rug and rug pad layers and find a thick coating of debris on my floor. Every. Single. Week. But it looked great and hid spills well and seemed to be holding up well to lots of foot traffic (people and a large dog). After about 2 1/2 years, my cat's playing with the rug loops started to take a toll on the rug (when he would pull a loop out, I would have to cut it bc tucking it back under didn't keep it from poking out) and it started to look worn so I replaced it. I did love the look of it while I had it and it was a great price.
looks great, but filthy
loved this rug once it arrived. Has great thick texture, nice natural color, even felt comfortable underfoot. But after I lifted the edge of it when sweeping around the rug, I noticed all kinds of dirt everywhere! My floor was cleaned with Bona before laying this new rug down (so it was super clean), but I'm assuming since it is made from all natural jute/material, it has a lot of dirt in it. I am attaching photos for you to see what I saw when lifting it up after the first few weeks of having it on our floor. I swept up a pile of dirt, and it made a dirt ring around the rug, dulling my wood floors. I then shook it out (it's heavy to lift! we have the 5x8 size) and vacuumed it (as per instructions), and you can see the amount of dirt that accumulated afterwards. yuck. I cannot recommend this rug, for the sheer amount of dirt in it. If you want something that is clean to begin with, look elsewhere. Too bad, this is a nice looking rug, but just filthy, and very heavy to shake out. I'm disappointed, and now past the window to return, so stuck with a rug that is filthy and has dulled my wood floors. (even with a very light "pad" under it).
I'm in love with this rug!
We received our rug today and we are beyond pleased!! We were so excited when it arrived, we tore the plastic off and literally rolled it out. It's gorgeous! The texture and softness complements our living room furniture perfectly. Sometimes jute rugs can have an awful smell to it but this one does not. After unrolling it, we vacuumed it, kicked off our shoes and walked all over it. I read an earlier review saying how surprised they were with its softness considering it's a jute rug and I couldn't agree more. Now of course they are a couple places here and there that lacks in softness but it's 100% jute. We have to thank everyone who wrote a review on this rug because it was what convinced us to buy and very happy we did!
Review of Chunky Thick Jute Rug
Not sure why this rug had so many positive reviews, but it must be better in certain parts of the house than others. We were going to put this in our family room/living room, but it was very scratchy and pokey with little grass stick pieces sticking out of all over. I wasn't expecting soft and luxurious but was surprised anyone would like something like this. It had so many good reviews I thought I'd take a chance, but it wasn't for me. When we picked it up to roll it back up after looking at it on the floor just for a short time, there was dirt all over the floor from it, just from those few minutes. We sent it back. It might work better as a purely decorative rug under a table or something where nobody ever really walks. I wish it would have worked - I like the jute look in photos but it's not cozy enough for a home. I will stick to my flat-woven cotton rugs.
High Quality Rug
This is a beautiful rug. It is exactly how it's pictured -- sometimes that's not always the case with stuff you order online, but this one is accurate displayed. It is a great neutral rug and will go with just about any decor. We have it in our basement, in a common area that goes out to our pool. I really wanted an indoor/outdoor rug since we expect wet feet to come and go...while this is definitely not an outdoor rug, I think it does the trick in our area. One thing I'll not is that this is HEAVY! I have a large size (10'x14') and I wasn't home when it was delivered and the FedEx person left it near an uncovered door over a rainy weekend when I wasn't home. So the rug itself did get wet (although it dried seemingly fine), but I had to have someone come help me move it into the basement and it is heavy. ,
Exactly what our living room was missing!
I can't say enough great things about this rug. I'll be honest, I first purchased this rug back in January but cancelled my order because I was hesitant reading reviews about the shedding. But I knew this size rug is exactly what would make my living room complete. Shipping was fast and the price was so good I practically made money on it. As soon as it arrived at our doorstep, we laid it under our living room furniture and marveled at the BEAUTY of this rug in our traditional living room against a dark coffee hickory wood flooring. Within a week of having this rug I've since pulled out one tiny twig and have had no shedding. And did I mention how comfortable it is to walk on this rug? Sure, it's no memory foam floor mat, but the fiber is soft and the texture of the braided jute is almost therapeutic. Love this rug and only wish I had followed through with my first order without an ounce of hesitation!
I bought 2
Just like other reviews, these are made very well. I listened to a review and didn't buy the pad for underneath, its fine. COMFORT is another thing....its like walking on extension cords. You will need slippers, for sure. Those sensitive to allergies might have a problem. I'm not sure if its coincidence or I might have caught a slight cold, so time will tell. (Its Flu Season right now) As far as the shedding hasn't happened with me yet, but because they are so heavy, I can see why people would be frustrated. I had to try them with the sale around Fifty Dollars each with Free Shipping, and glad I did. If you like the coastal look it will fit right in. Thanks Overstock! (Looks just like the pics provided online) UPDATE: Ok, so it's been a couple of months since buying the runners I AM looking for a pad to go underneath now. I haven't gotten the grit as others have stated (thankfully) but it is moving all over the place. When the puppy runs up the hallway he kicks it up and I'm constantly fixing it and its heavy so that's annoying. Also I am surprised to see some pulls in it. Wasn't that happy, but I like the beachy natural look so its not a total deal breaker. I think I'm going to buy 2 rugs for living and Dining room, but just a tad hesitant. Because it is so thick and junky, I'm thinking the chairs are going to get stuck in the fiber loops of the weave. How annoying will that be? I so like the looks and price better than others, but returning these rugs? Forget it people, they weigh a ton. Choose wisely.
