Wow this island is a beast. It's solid wood and very sturdy. I'm blown away by the quality. I opted to seal it with polyurethane and did a light coat of sanding on between coats as the grains popped and became uneven with the polyurethane application. The first two pictures are the finished product, the last picture is the out of the box assembled unfinished version. The drawers are a little flimsy comparatively, but otherwise the product is incredibly well made and should last decades. The biggest surprise is how tall it is. It's a little taller than counter height, but that's great for taller people so they don't have to bend as much. I love the two shelves, it increases the storage for our kitchen in our modest vacation rental house. One word of advice, make sure the legs are assembled with the holes facing in. I had to redo the assembly because we didn't notice we had the legs on incorrectly initially. Otherwise it's very easy to assemble, and other than a Phillips head screw driver they give you everything for assembly. I did have to wood glue one drawer knob because the screw housing came skewed and stripped but that was an easy fix. I could have bought junk that was much cheaper, but I bought solid wood that is much sturdier and long lasting. Super happy with this island.

A butcher block upgrade

After forty years of working on a butcher block that is smaller and not believing something larger would fit in our small kitchen we found this one. It is very well made, easy to assemble, and is quality wood. We like that it isn't made in ****, too. We saw a review of one that was beautifully painted but opted to leave our bare, except for some mineral oiling. Because we will be using this for food prepping we didn't use tung oil so it might take a few applications to darken it a bit more. We just love this new addition as it seems made just for our needs.

The island came with a stain on the top, needed to return. It is a very sturdy, beefy island, appeared to be well made. Loved the natural wood & being able to paint it.

I wanted something old-ish looking and this is perfect. It comes unassembled but that made it easier to custom paint/stain each piece. It painted and stained beautifully. We used tung oil on the butcher block and did a paint with a wax treatment on the legs. It looks great. Very solid, lots of storage.

Awesome quality!!!

It is SO hard to find quality furniture and especially anything made 100% from real wood. Even the drawers on this are real wood and not particle board or something equally junky. Unfortunately we had a little damage in shipping, some dents and one drawer was broken so it really needs to be packaged better. I'm sure overstock will blame UPS but the box wasn't that beat up so I think it really comes down to it needed more cushion to prevent things from banging around too much. You can order replacement parts. It adds so much more storage to our kitchen that we desperately needed because our kitchen is so tiny in our 121 year old home. The shelves are adjustable which is awesome because nothing is worse than not being able to use them for what you want. You could even omit them if you wanted to and possibly use for stools but we like the shelves. I'm using mine to store my Instant Pots and Le Creuset pans so they don't get so banged up by other family members in the cupboards. The hardest part is deciding what to do with it as far as paint or stain since it's unfinished and we have different ideas of what would look the best! Overall fabulous! Could be cheaper but wood prices have gone up from the pandemic so it is what it is I guess. At least it's hardwood and not pine or something else that's just as soft.

Solid built kitchen island is absolutely beautiful in my new kitchen! Very easy to put together although I had the holes of the legs facing the wrong direction and had to redo and swap the end legs and turn them facing in. I only used one shelf so I could place baskets underneath. I used wood conditioner and then stained with MinWax special walnut and then a coat of MinWax weathered oak on top, then three coats of Polycrylic. It turned out exactly like I wanted. Great buy and great price for a solid wood island!

Solid Island!

I read reviews from other websites since there was only one review available here. After reading all the reviews I could find on this product, I decided to purchase the island through Walmart.com for a few reasons.

Kitchen Island

Well made, easy to put together. Would've been a 5 but it didn't come with the hardware. Had to finally call Walmart Corporate to find the right source.
