[Rewarded Review] Best Protection for a budget iPad.
Excellent fit and finish. Works great for storage and safety. Have already dropped it a few times and the iPad has be preserved and no problems. These are a great option to protect your iPad. The added stand option makes it easy to multitask and gives you 2 very usable positions for your iPad. I've ordered 2, will probably order another 2 for additional iPads.
So disappointed!
Me and my kids all have iPhones and iPads and it is just a rule in our house even with myself when I get a new one I don’t unbox it and start using it until I have an OtterBox case there ready to put on it because since the first iPhone I owned I have thought that OtterBox was number one and so far it had been but my daughter got her second iPad and I had the best OtterBox defender series case for it. She was walking and had her arms full and it was slipping and she was trying to lower herself to the ground and catch it as it slipped, maybe a foot slowly onto the ground and completely shattered her brand new iPad I contacted OtterBox all they would do is replace the case even though I explained the situation to them and told them the case doesn’t have a scratch on it, it’s the iPad that is shattered so I returned the iPad to Walmart and bought her a replacement otterbox sent me the new OtterBox defender case I put the new one on it. It shattered with that one on it too, but just over the warranty time on the iPad so she now has a brand new iPad and it’s completely shattered, we replaced all our cases with diverbox cases. They are now protected the way they used to be with otterbox.
Great Product
I love the Otterbox Defender. I have a disability and I wanted added protection for my iPad. This is a great product. I have no worries if I accidently drop my device now of damaging it. A challenge to put on as they come with no instructions but google is a great source of information with a step by step video on how to put the Otterbox on your iPad.
CRAP, and slightly misleading
This case is CRAP!!! This variation of the Defender series DOES NOT include a built-in screen protector! Why purchase a case this expensive for an iPad if the screen is just left...unprotected??? This deficit should be highlighted or at least mentioned in the item description.
Horrible decline in product quality
What a piece of junk! We have always used Otterbox protection for our Apple products. But they no longer include screen protection! That’s THE most important part of the iPad needing protection. Between the cost of the Defender PLUS the additional cost of the separate screen protection it was literally half the cost of the iPad it was designed for at todays iPad 9th generation cost. When we turned in our old 5th generation iPads they looked perfect because of the screen protection. Why offer iPad Defender without a built in screen protection? Almost anything with a screen protector is better than paying for the Defender without screen protection: Huge disappointment.
[Rewarded Review] expensive, but very sturdy
I had heard of the reputation of otterbox. I compared it to other cases and came to the conclusion that this was the best in terms of protection. After using this I still believe this. It came with little or no instructions, so it took me a little time to figure out how to install it. There is a built in stand, but for my purposes, it wasn't very useful. There are places for the buttons on the Ipad, and when one uses this product one has to push quite hard. For instance, to turn your iPad on or off you have to push quite hard. The product is heavy, but as mentioned before it is sturdy. I placed this in my backpack and wasn't worried if my iPad was going to be damaged while I traveled. If you want to spend $80+ for a case and want to really protect your iPad, this is the case for you.
Should've been better
At first, I thought this would be as good as my other otter box products, but unfortunately it wasn’t. I read the reviews online so I knew there was no screen protector and that’s just a design flaw, not a flaw of the product itself. The main annoyance is that I have had it for just over a couple months and the snaps that are supposed to hold the pencil have both broken. I anticipated that eventually this would happen, but with the quality of their other products and the price I paid for it, I expected it to have happened much later than a couple months. Extremely disappointed in this product.
RECOMMENDED!
I bought this case to protect my child's iPad. He wanted to change his "kiddie" protective case to something more "grown-up." Enter this Defender case. After some research, I decided to get this. It has all the protection I am looking for, and the all-black look made my child happy. There are some comments by other customers about having difficulty installing it but I watched a few YT videos and thankfully, I didn't encounter that problem. It's also a bonus that it has a built-in pencil holder inside. This review was written months after purchase and we are still very happy with this product.
No Screen Protector!
We’ve been using OtterBoxes on our apple devices for years because they work. I’ve dropped my phone and iPad many times over the years and have had no damage. When I had to replace my iPad, I ordered this case to keep it protected. I picked it up at the store and took it home. When I opened it to install it, I realized there was no screen protector. I guess I should have read the description closer instead of assuming it had one, every OtterBox we’ve ever purchased has had one. The odd thing is this is the PRO version that you would think offers more protection, not less. The regular Defender case (which Target doesn’t carry) has a screen protector so I ended up ordering it from from another company.
[Rewarded Review] I Otterbox EVERYTHING!
I have been using otterbox products for years. From phones to ipads or tablets. I love the Defender series. It is a bit bulky but, well worth it! Recently my son dropped my daughter's ipad from the second floor in my home. It broke the bottom piece of the shell but, did not damage to the ipad. Now I must admit, if the outer case was on I don't believe that this piece would have accrued any damage. My daughter has dropped her ipad before down a flight of stairs with the full case on and no damage to anything. I'm now purchasing a new case after purchasing the this one in December 2020. I would not buy anything else but Otterbox.
Installation instructions!
This is the first time I have ever put an otter box case on an iPad… usually someone else just puts it on for me! I had trouble figuring out how to open the case to insert the iPad. I finally found a video that showed how to install this screenless defender pro case. It’s hard to see, but there is a thin rubber shell that peels off. Once you get it peeled off, you unsnap a few clips and you are all set! Just insert the iPad, snap it back together and then put the rubber shell back on. The rubber shell is the key to successfully installing the case.
I’ve use OtterBox defender case for Apple phones in a past before and this is the first time that I’m using it for an Apple iPad. so far it’s done a great job defending my iPad and keeping it safe and I really appreciate the fact that it came with its own protective screen as well too it doesn’t interrupt my touchpad activities and it takes away my worries of scratches occurring. Choosing this particular type of case was a great choice and OtterBox products have never let me down for you the years that I’ve used them. The black color is very appealing. It even has a small storage area for the Apple Pencil so that’s a plus right there the port to be able to use it to either stand or connected for my charging purposes is more than accessible and it isn’t difficult. It really feels like a thick layer of armor that’s been placed onto the actual iPad. I gave this product five stars and I would recommend it to anyone I would now and a few people have listen to my device and have a proof of this purchase for themselves.
[Rewarded Review] Love it!
This is a really nice iPad case. It stays true to the Otter Box brand. It is so durable. It is made to withstand drops without worrying about your device breaking. If you are like me, you are prone to drop your iPad on more than one occasion. Since having this case I have already dropped my iPad twice, once outside on the sidewalk. I’m glad I had this case to protect it because it didn’t break at all. The case is two different pieces that snap together, making sure that your device will be extra protected. There are also a couple of other functions that case has to offer. The side that you place the iPad into has raised edges so you could even use that one side by itself. There is also a charger protector that is easy to open and close. On the other piece of the case it has a device stand that you are able to prop up. It is also easy to put up and down and it holds the device in place nicely. On the same piece there is also a space to click your Apple Pencil into place. I don’t have one, but I did test it with a regular pencil and it stays in place really well. The case is also easy to wipe down. Make sure it’s completely dry before placing your device back inside of it though. All in all, this is a great case.
[Rewarded Review] I think it’s indestructible, perfect protection
I was so excited to receive this case, we’ve already replaced one iPad due to children’s hands. And this case did not disappoint! The case is solid, fits like a glove, and seems to be indestructible. I keep my iPad on a stand, and the case added extra weight, but fortunately it sits on the stand, just a better fit.
Defender PRO Does NOT Have A Screen Protector
Ok. So, I ordered this for drive-up. I thought I was getting a case with a built-in screen protector. I picked it up, made sure it was what I ordered, and drove back home. The case was in a cardboard box with both pieces snapped together so the backs were facing out. I didn’t know until I opened it that there was no screen protector. I wasn’t sure if I had ordered the wrong one, or had gotten a defective one, so I drove back to the store to return it. When I got to the store, I decided to look at the cases to see if they had the case I thought I was getting. Sure enough, there was the case with the built-in screen protector in a PLASTIC box. It was the exact same price as the one I had received. I noticed that the one I had ordered said Defender PRO, and the one I had actually wanted said DEFENDER. No “Pro”. I figured I had just gotten the 2 mixed up, misread the reviews saying it came with a screen protector, etc. So, I bought the regular Defender case, went home and made sure it fit my iPad 8th Gen (because the DEFENDER says “for 7th Gen” only and the PRO says “for 7th AND 8th Gen”) and THANKFULLY it did! Out of curiosity, I checked my in-store purchase on the app to see if the DEFENDER showed up as an item (because when I searched for OtterBox I only saw the PRO) and sure enough, it showed up... AS THE OTTERBOX DEFENDER PRO! So, basically I’m leaving this looooong review to save the next person who wants just the regular ol’ Defender. BUY IT IN THE STORE!!!!! DEFENDER: Not available online (as itself), comes in a plastic box, has a screen protector Defender PRO: Available online, comes in a cardboard box, does NOT have a screen protector I’m giving this item 3 stars only because it was very confusing having 2 very different cases listed under the same name. The cases themselves are great, but the screen protector is a must-have for me. Not sure why the PRO isn’t as equipped as the Defender though. Doesn’t quite seem like a “pro”...
Solid Case
I ordered the Otterbox for my iPad because I felt the folder style cases didn’t offer a lot of protection and I found it was hard to keep a good grip on it when the folder was open.
