The potting bench is just what I expected. It arrived undamaged and unassembled in a large box. The slatted shelves were already assembled. I chose to prime the surfaces before assembly. Sanding the sliding surfaces helps a bit after priming. All the screws and bolts worked perfectly. To do: pick a color and finish painting.

Product was exactly as described/expected. Assembly was straightforward.

The bench was a gift for our 8 year old granddaughter. We painted it blue before assembly and again after assembly. It is a good height and design. All parts were in the box and directions were clear. I bought it at full price and 2 days later it was on sale. Home Depot matched the sale price for me and gave me a refund.

I looked at a while lot of potting benches before I settled on this one — glad I did. Very high quality cedar (smells terrific), very clear assembly instructions. Managed to put it together by myself on Xmas eve as a surprise for my husband. (It would be easier to assemble with two people, though, so do that if you can.) Husband loves it — great height for him.

Bought for my MIL. She wanted a space saver but with high function, as a potting bench. The wood is untreated pine (I believe), and is well sanded. We opted not to stain as natural aging would enhance it's appeal. What is nifty about the potting bench is the hide-away dry sink where extra soil could be kept, or tools, etc. Lots of hooks to hang garden stuff and two smaller shelves above and a large one below. My MIL was smitten with the bench. We were missing a 3 screws, but easily found extra's in my FIL collection. One person can assemble, but it can be tricky. It much more fun with two people.

Missing screws

Cool planting bench, stained it before assembly, and looks great and rustic. However, missing 4 out of 28 screws and BCP couldn't supply them so on my own to make a trip to the hardware store to find matching ones. A little bit of an inconvenience since I live rural and don't have a hardware store just around the corner.

Decent Size Potting Bench

This was fairly easy to put together if your handy with tools and DIY. It's a good size for a potting bench. I did notice some reviews people commenting that holes were not pre-drilled. This wood is very soft and the screws they give you are wood screws so there really isn't any need for the holes to be pre-drilled. Just hold the pieces tight together as you start to screw them to each other, and make sure you have them lined up properly. The ones that they had drilled out, on the legs, were all in the correct places and matched up correctly. I did not have a problem with any of the holes not lining up. Be very careful to put the screws in straight, if they are not, you may run the risk of cracking the wood and do not overtighten the screws, that will also crack the wood. Like I said it is very soft wood. I am going to seal mine with a wood sealer or stain as others have stated doing. This will be kept outdoors, and I think it will give it a longer life. I did have the issue some stated with the top sliding over the tub underneath. I solved that issue by cutting away some of the under part of the lip on the tub so it would sit lower underneath the sliding tops. This worked for me. I just used a sharp knife and cut away a little at a time. It was a bit time consuming, but the top now slides over it fine now. I wasn't about to take it apart and send it back because of this. Before putting it all together I laid everything out and counted all the parts to make sure everything was there. It's not real heavy duty I don't expect it to last forever. If that's what you're looking for then you may have to spend more money. This is good enough for my needs of occasional repotting plants.

Not that east to assemble because the wooden pieces are too thin. I am replacing a potting bench that I put together 20 years ago and only paid $20.00. I will be lucky if this bench that I paid more than 3X the amount will last more than one year. Disappointed in the quality but cannot return because there is no way I can get it back into the original packaging as stated in the return instructions. Buyer Beware!

Very nice solid wood pieces.

Very nice solid wood pieces. Complete and detailed instructions - each piece of wood is labeled, bags of screws for each step are labeled. If you can read and follow directions, and have a cordless drill/screwdriver - very easy! All the wood was smooth - no splinters here! Thank you for a great product!

2 Years later and it’s holding up great!

Very functional and sturdy. I wanted to seal wood before using but didn’t get it done. Nevertheless it’s held up well to all weather temperatures although I will say it is mostly n the the shade in the hot Texas heat. Would absolutely buy it again!
