Perfect Rental Friendly Backsplash Update

I just moved into an old building and wanted to find a cheaper, rental-friendly way to update the outdated kitchen. I love green, so I chose the darker green peel-and-stick tile. The sticker was easy to cut and adjust when I needed to re-stick. When I'm done, it looks so good—it compliments the old laminate countertop so well! Recommended!!

A great look before our actual remodel

We wanted to modernize our 1950's kitchen before we remodel next year. Super easy to use! Definitely helps to have a cutting mat, straight edge and utility knife to keep those edges straight. Our kitchen looked 💯 better immediately! Quality tiles - love the way they reflect the light.

Beautiful, but pricey

Beautiful, but incredibly expensive - didn't realize price was per sheet. Previously I had ordered packs of smart tiles for my basement, so it never occurred to me that these were individual sheets as I've never seen those before. I'm invested now... but really hope I can find discounted packs of these or something because I need a LOT more than I ordered and it might have been cheaper to go with tile at this point....

Easy to use and happy with the end look!

these tiles shipped quickly and were perfect for my food truck backsplash. Pros: very happy with the level of sheen, super easy to apply and strong adhesive. Cons: I wish they were brighter white, and I found the typing on the overlap so annoying! Seems unlikely that anyone has a perfect walk where you don’t need to rotate the pieces and now I need to caulk the outer edges or come up with some other coverup.

Good value & easy enough installation

They look and feel nice, however are a bit more grey in person than I anticipated (was expecting off white more), though still nice. Installation should be easy in theory, but we have very uneven walls due to our house being so old, but I made it work! Could have done without the writing on the edges telling you where to overlap. That part seems intuitive enough and it’s not super satisfying to look at if you have a little bit of writing sticking out on the edge. The tiles are easy enough to install, but almost too sticky on the adhesive side for their own good LOL. I had to remove and restock a few because they clung to the wall before I was ready as I was overlapping. The good news is they definitely won’t fall off. Overall pretty happy with the result, especially since it took only about an hour and $175!

Realistic and easy to use

Love how great these tiles look once up - you wouldn't believe they were stick on and not real! It's a bit of trial and error to get them lined up perfectly but they stick and re-stick pretty well multiple times. I will say if you are covering a space that has multiple weird shapes to go around it might be better to use tiles that are individual rather than a tile that has multiple pieces like this one - I probably had to use way more tiles because of having to cut them to fit the spaces (I wanted them to all line up perfectly). All in all super happy and would recommend.

An easy way to transform a space

I used this product as a backsplash in an all beige kitchen. The final result was miles beyond what I had imagined. The backsplash has completely transformed the space. Smart tiles installed easily and produced a wonderful final result. Make sure to follow the installation instructions and it may be helpful to use a laser level.

High quality, visually stunning!

These are excellent quality and look beautiful on my wall. My only complaint, if you can even call it that, is that the tiles are pretty difficult to cut cleanly through to fit within specific dimensions. Overall I am delighted with how they look and are staying on the wall, and I'm considering adding more to the rest of my house.

The hype is real

I am a regular person, not a tiler, so I was appropriately nervous/skeptical, but these tile sheets are the real deal. First of all, I used the little calculator to determine how many I needed, and it was *exactly* correct. If I had known it would be that precise, I probably would have added one extra sheet just in case, but that’s just me. I installed them over existing (non-functioning) fireplace tile that has three major cracks, and these camouflage everything flawlessly. I’m so happy with how it came out, and every single person who has entered my home since I did it has freaked out over how good it looks (and feels!!) - if you’ve been on the fence, I say go for it. Measure twice, cut once!

This product was just what we needed to give our dated fireplace surround an upgrade. It took me about 3 hours to complete this project. The only tools it required was an x-acto knife, straight edge and cutting mat. The adhesive is strong, but can be peeled back up if a mistake is made---but only within a small time frame, otherwise I found it more difficult. It's important to orient the sheets, noticing the 'overlap' writing along the 'grout' edges. I ordered 8 packs, and used every last sheet and had to piece together the final bits using the scraps. I know this product is not recommended for floors, but I figured the floor in front of the fireplace (which we don't use), wouldn't be walked on, so I think it should be alright. Totally changed the look of this wall. Love it! Product was great quality for a 'faux' tile.

Love love love!

So pleased! The tiles were so easy to work with and are so expensive-looking in person. I took a big leap by covering such a large area but the tile totally camouflaged the weird inconsistencies on my walls and brought a lovely glossy texture to my bathroom! I was able to totally disguise a defunct light switch (and accompanying hole in the wall) with just a single page. The sheets are varied enough to where they look cohesive but not repetitive. Would totally recommend to anyone looking to breathe life into their space and cover up tricky wall texture!

Laundry magic

These look great! Reasonably easy to use once you know what you are doing and prep well. I did find it difficult to cut the top tiles straight but this is easily hidden by some edging. Would like to be able to purchase thin white edging on the website so that it blends with the cabinets and paint. Tiles stick very firmly and I think look awesome!

Even better than expected

Wow! We have tried various different stickertile brands in our kitchen, but they never made it past a week. We decided to try tiles from The Smart Tiles and we have been blown away. They are easy to install and look and feel like real tiles. Our kitchen in our rental apartment was completely run down and was begging for a rental friendly remodel. Almost one month later everything still looks and feels brand new! I doubt our landlord would even want us to remove the tiles. Thanks so much!

Would definitely use again!

These were super easy to install and pretty forgiving if you have to piece together any pieces. I used them over my existing kitchen backslash, which mind you, isn’t leveled and had quite a few pesky corners. Even with that, it still looks pretty good! It’s been about 2 weeks and they’ve held up great thus far. They also arrived a day before the scheduled delivery, which was awesome!

Fireplace is a gem

I am in love with my fireplace! I’ve wanted to give my fireplace a makeover for years but I didn’t want to commit to a tile. With smart tile I can change the tile as my style changes! So grateful I finally decided to take the plunge. They were easy to install and they are holding up well. We live in a very cold state. The fire place tile is extremely cold. The smart tiles are sticking very well.

Customer service is defensive instead if helpful

I posted a review above about the product being beautiful but having a few imperfections that make it hard to use. A completely fair thing for someone who is buying ot understand. Customer service response: " Hello, Thank you for your review. The letters/numbers are for manufacturing purposes only. To determine the desired pattern, we recommend arranging the tiles on the counter before installing them on the wall. When aligning your tiles, make sure to overlap the letters/numbers along the grout lines to ensure they are not apparent."

Easy to install & looks great!

These tiles are a great upgrade for our kitchen. They were pretty easy to install, you need to be quite precise and definitely need some patience. It took me half a day for the kitchen, but it was worth it. They are covering old tiles underneath and you really can’t see them through the 3D sticky tiles. They are a little bit too grey (darker than on the picture), but other than that they look really great! Just the corners are a bit messy, sticky corners would be a great product addition - we will use silicone.

Blue bliss with Smart Tiles

I live in a small condo and wanted to clearly separate my open kitchen from my living room but since they share a wall I decided it wouldn't look right to paint the kitchen and have a weird paint line from where the kitchen ended and the living room began. That's when I discovered Smart Tiles with all these beautiful blues! This was exactly what I was looking for— a fantastic alternative to expensive tiles and a much easier process for renovating my home. I am thrilled with the results!

Chic look on the cheap!

LOVE these tiles! I purchased to help spruce up a kitchen that was severely builder grade and had no backsplash. The installation was super easy and I loved the outcome of the look. It looks so classy and I get a ton of compliments. I will say that it doesn’t seem super renter friendly… the adhesive pulled up some of the paint on my wall while trying to reposition it.

High end look in an afternoon!

So far so good! I put these up in an afternoon. One of them had a defect with the clear coating and so I had to hide that one into a corner. I’m hopeful they stay up over time. They have completely transformed our bathroom and are just so beautiful. I’ve just used sharp new scissors and box knife and that’s all I’ve needed. Using the backing as a template has worked well. I can’t wait to put these in the kitchen next!
