Feeder quality declined (oriole jelly feeder)
We had an earlier edition of this feeder for a couple of years. It had metal chains and hanging ring which made the feeder quite sturdy. Recently, it was knocked off the shepherd's hook and damaged on the ground beyond repair (probably not our neighborhood raccoon this time.) We have had lots of orioles %26 other songbirds feeding from it this year, so I ordered a new a new one right away!
Perky Pet Lowers Standard
Perky Pet changed materials for their Chain from metal to plastic. Very weak, poor quality and not durable as their former design. Would NOT recommend this product because of this decision by Perky Pet.
It does the job of attracting Orioles, but it's a bit messy. The drainage holes should be covered first as they leak jelly onto the ground which attracts ants and also makes the twisting device that dispenses the jelly sticky. That device could also work a bit better than it does. But as I said, it certainly attracts Orioles and other birds that love jelly.
Great oriole feeder. Four star because it’s so tippy. You are guaranteed to get sticky. Once you get the hang of the metal chain it gets better. Would buy it again.
This feeder works GREAT. I like that I can hang it from an ant moat to keep them out. That was my primary reason for going with this design. I like the 2 stations, but they don't seem comfortable using it together where they can see each other. I used a little spray paint to create a visual barrier between birds. It's nice to have the dual reservoir!
Easy to use
I actually ordered two. One came with a heavy chain the other a plastic chain. The heavy chain one held up but the plastic chain did not. I enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles. Very easy to use, I took the plastic container off and just affixed my jelly jar to it.

Orioles do love the jelly! Unfortunately so do the squirrels...they have learned how to pull on one of the chains and tip the feeder over, thus spilling the jelly on the ground where they can get it. Would be better maybe with 4 chains, to make it more stable.
Not only orioles but cardinals as well....
This feeder is totally amazing! I immediately had Orioles at my feeder and they loved the grape jelly. But to my surprise, I have also been greeted by Cardinals, and a Woodpecker. Yes, I couldn't believe it but they do share their love for the grape jelly. They are all regulars now and sharing nicely.
Simple to use!
This Oriole bird feeder was perfect for my son's yard. The feeder is simple to use, just twist in a jar of jelly. The Orioles Are All Over This
Purchased this in-store. We have 3 different style oriole feeders and the birds seem to choose to use this feeder first. It took them a day to figure out how to land on the tray as the chains are fairly close together. This is very lightweight which concerned us with the wind but it hasn't been a problem. The only thing we're not crazy about are the rainwater drain holes in the tray. The jelly melts in the heat and drips through the trays. Otherwise we are very pleased with this feeder.
How to fix the tipping over issue.
The reason the unit might flip upside down is because if it starts to tip from a bird's weight or high wind or whatever, there's a chance the bottle will pass between the chains, then keep right on tipping until the whole unit is inverted. The way to fix this problem is to prevent the bottle from being able to pass between the chains.
We love these things
I love these things. Just bought 2 more for a total of 4 now. We get a ton of oriels for a 2 week period in the spring and they are pigs. We go thru 2 cases of 32oz jelly. Fill the jar up which also loosens the jelly up. I have also just scewed the jelly jar on there, but you need to loosen the jelly in the jar. Have also stirred in a little water so the jelly just keeps running out onto the plate because they were eating it so fast I was tired of walking out to where we have them hanging.
Happy in Michigan
Prior feeder did not attract orioles. I bought this feeder, I’m so happy. I seen two pairs at a time on this feeder. I did have trouble with feeder tipping upside down. I then put on a full jar of jelly no tipping over problems. Love watching the orioles

Super cute, love the idea and it would probably work great in a shady location. But on my porch, where I hang my feeders, the sun melts the jelly and it just runs right out of the feeder and through the drain holes. It causes a huge mess. We've had to place a plate underneath it until we find a replacement. Sad, because it is so cute, and it has the capacity our old one did not.
Jelly leaks thru the drainage holes
I was so excited about receiving this product until I saw holes in the tray. I contacted the manufacturer thinking that plugs for the holes must have been missing from packaging. They said the holes were for water drainage and the jelly would stay put. Ok. I attached the jelly, flipped it over to hang on my deck and about 1 minute later jelly came spilling out of the holes onto my deck. (On a 65° PA day under roof) I'll be returning this for something that suits my needs better.
"What a wonderful invention"
I was going out and putting 3 scoops of jelly every day on my home made plastic plate for my Baltimore Orioles.. Now with this feeder I buy a 32 oz jar of grape jelly and put it in the plastic jar provided. I found this the best way because if I put a full jar of jelly on feeder it is packed to tight. I turn the little knob on the bottom of the feeder. (What a wonderful invention that is!). And that's all there is to it. I love watching the adults and there young come to this feeder. Thank you. Terrific invention! I left this review under the Oriole nectar feeder by accident. There does not seem to be a way to correct that once submitted. Oops. However, this is a great feeder for Orioles. We seem to have 4 or 5 Orioles using this at this time. With the heat we have been having, the jelly is a bit more fluid and doesn't need to have the crank turned. We do need to get an ant guard, however. Great feeder, highly recomended!

We hung up the feeder on its own pole. Immediately the squirrels came. Because it’s top heavy it will always flip upside down. I believe it needs some kind of bracing with the changes to prevent this. I then set it on the ground and of course got a boatload if ants. I did attract a couple of birds that I wouldn’t normally see with it but the continual correction of flipping isn’t worth it.
Great Feeder
These feeders work great for orioles! Make sure the snaps are in the very narrow slots on the sides of the tray in order for the jelly jar to balance correctly and not tip over. Also, you must stir up the jelly well for it to come down easily onto the tray. I use a large screwdriver to stir before I place/screw in the full jar of jelly. Occasionally I just squeeze the jar rather than use the underside spinner. I had 8 males on and near my feeder the other evening. Beautiful colors!!
Time saver
This is an ingenious solution for voracious orioles. I was tired of filling my jelly cups every day, and this solved that chore. Depending on the consistency of the jelly, you might want to loosen it from the inside of the jar, and just use the jar that the jelly came in from the store, no need to transfer to the plastic jar. I am also bothered by grackles and other large birds raiding the jelly, so I bought 1-1/2" coated fencing mesh and constructed a cage to hang with it. When the blackbirds left the area, I removed the cage.
