Water based oils

Water mixable oils are easy to use and pretty much the same as oil based. There is a bit of a learning curve, which is true of anything. They act like oil based but the clean up is soap and water. No mess or smell or solvents. Windsor Newton is a fine brand.

I love the water mixable oils. They have minimal smell and blend like oils. Some are a little dry, but you can mix a water mixable medium with them.

Winsor Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour

I LOVE Winsor Newton Artisan water mixable oil paints. I get the versatility of oil paint without the irritation of chemical clean-up.....!

This sort of paint is totally new to me, but I like the fact that I don't need solvent to use thin them or clean the brushes, as the fumes would affect my asthma. The pigments are rich and mix well with water. I recommend a bottle of water miscible liquin to speed up drying times if you are used to acrylics (or not very patient). Alternatively, have a few paintings on the go.

Winsor Paints

All my oils are Winsor/Newton. Michaels is the only place I can buy them. I have only used these paints thru the years (and I mean many yrs) I love the consistency.

Big tubes!

I buy a lot of paint online and appreciate the bigger tubes, they only sell small ones at my local store. I'd love a bigger color selection in water mixable oils!

Review of Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour tubes 200ml Series 1

Thick heavier body paints great pigmentation. Easy to clean with water though I would recommend a brush cleaner for a more thorough clean. I do not mix it with water other than what may remain on my brush after rinsing. It works well with liquid and artisan thinner. It is also not overly oily very thick and firm texture yet still creamy. Overall a wonderful paint to work with and I will certainly be getting more as needed though the 200ml tubes will certainly last longer and are great value for money.

Good choice

I had used these paints in the past because paint thinners are no fun. I am returning to oil painting after years of no free time as a teacher. These are making me happy!
