I have been using these for years. I have them in everyroom. And they do turn on automatically when the power goes out. I cant remember what a dark house looks like cause these as nightlights are fantastic. The reason i first bought these was because when during a storm and power went out I couldnt catch my 2 dogs 2 cats and parrot in the dark.

Not long lasting. If you are off power for more than 6 hours, they lose their light. Battery power should be better,
