Popped during first use
My kids gave me this ball as a father's day gift in 2023, just after having elbow surgery. The ball sat until May 2024 until its first use, and popped after less than an hour of light practice. I reached out to Mikasa asking that they replace the ball, but am having no luck. Find a different ball for sure, and maybe a manufacturer that stands behind their product. Go for the tried and true Eilson AVP ball for reliability and professional feel. Worth the extra $20.00 all day long.
Great ball for the price
Great bal, I’ve played and coached for 40 years. This ball is as nice to play a those $70 balls out there! You know ow the one….
Buyer Beware
Very slick surface. I do not believe this ball is the type used in high level competition. I think I Paid more than retail. Live and learn.
Great volleyball
This product was purchased recently and has been a great purchase. It is good quality and is excellent to play volleyball.
Great for league play.
We bought several balls to let people try for league play and this ball was the favorite. Nice weight, good feel, and a slight tackiness for easy passing.
Great quality product
Bought a mikasa KOB ball. Great quality. Feels super nice when hitting. May be a bit too grippy initially, but it will probably wear down after while
Great experience
The ball was as expected, arrived early, and I was informed every step of the way. I would be happy to buy from them again. It was a great buying experience!
It's OK
The Mikasa KOB ball is going to be different than the Spalding version. Personally I love the old Spalding KOB ball so it was an interesting transition to this one. Once broken in these balls play well. The only knock that I have on them is that the seams rip too easily. I play in leagues at a few different locations that use these balls and they all have Mikasa KOB balls that have ripped seams. For the price, this is a great ball, if it holds up. I've ordered from allvolleyball in the past and they have excellent customer service for defective products and shipping speeds are adequate.
A great volleyball..
I really like the ball. It has a terrific feel to it. The cover has a fair amount of friction giving one great control of the ball when using open hands. One very experienced woman player thought it was a touch heavy, but everyone else really likes the ball.
Discoloration on the ball but good ball
Everyone seems like this ball. It has a nice soft leather feel so it is easy to handle.
Nice Volleyball but Arrived Stained
This is a very nice volleyball that has a great feel compared to other beach volleyballs. My one complaint is that there is a distinct circular yellow stain on the part of the ball that wasn't in the packaging. The ball must have sat in a warehouse for quite sometime, and nothing has been able to remove the stain.
Great Ball for outside play
I always loved the king of beach spalding version and this is very much the same. They did a great job staying true to the previous version. Very good ball for outside play.
Stellar Service!
I originally ordered a Mikasa KOB tour ball which was shipped via USPS. After USPS seemingly lost the original order, I reached back out to AllVolleyball, and they sent me another one free of charge thru FedEx! Super great customer service! I will definitely order anything volleyball related in the future from them!! Thanks so much!
Great feel
Some people hate this ball and think it looks like a soccer ball.
Great ball. Better than Wilson OPTX.
I'm not a terribly good player but I have been at it for a long time. I was also director of sales and marketing for a well-known beach volleyball company way back when. So I think I know volleyballs. The new version of the KOB from Mikasa is excellent all-round. Our club has put 12 into play along side our Wilson AVP balls (the now discontinued yellow/white ball) . We also have some members with the OPTX balls. General takeaway is that the Mikasa is equal to the old AVP in all respects with slightly better feel for hand-setting. As the the OPTX ball, most players think it's too slick with all that paint plus the balls are impossible to mark so you can identify yours from every other OPTX ball. But it has its fans because the graphics seem to show directional spin. Depending on the beach you go to in So Cal, you'll find groups that are dedicated to the KOB and groups that are WIlson-ites. For the club it's a no-brainer because the Mikasa is a whole world less expensive than the Wilson OPTX. All future ball orders for the club will be Mikasa KOB unless Wilson suddenly drops the price 40%.
Best beach volleyball
Great beach volleyball! Feels lighting than the original Spalding KOB, but the cover is grippier
Definitely the best price around for Mikasa volleyballs because now the Spalding balls are really bad. Mikasa makes the best king of the beach balls now
This ball will not last.
My son bought 4 of these in late July. All of them are already egg shaped. I went to the KOB website and shared this information and I have not had any response. Several years ago I bought 20 of the NVL Mikasa volleyballs and in less than a summer all of them looked like deformed eggs. Guess what I didn't get a response then either. Mikasa does not make volleyballs that will last more than a summer. If your good with buying new every year just because then this might be for you.
Mikasa KOB balls
I bought 6 Mikasa King of the Beach balls, the price at this site was $15 less than any other I found. The balls were delivered no fuss, just uninflated in a plastic bag. Balls were free of blemishes. One is a touch lumpy, but no worse than Spalding KOBs I bought in the past. So far I love these balls. They play very slick when wet. Dry, they are the best outdoor ball out there, including the OPTX. Will see how they hold up to abuse.
Replaced the old KOB
I'm used to the previous Spalding KOB volleyball. This one is designed exactly the same as the Spalding except for the stickiness on the surface. That eventually goes away, but it's annoying in the beginning when you first play with it. The Spalding never had that problem, that I recall. I did notice a colleague sanded down his new Spalding so it may have been the same issue.
