Fun inexpensive time saver
This nut grinder is the simplest to use. Turning the lever clockwise or counter gives you two different grinds. You get a lot done in a short time and the pieced are all the same size. Perfect for everything from hummingbird cake to chocolate chip cookies to zucchini bread.
Time saver
I really like using the nut chopper when the recipe calls for at least a half cup of nuts. I also love that it measures the nuts as you chop. It chops the nuts a bit finer than I would like, even on coarse grind. I can never get all of nuts out of the chopping part until I clean it, so a few bits are wasted. However, I am really glad I got it.
Not like the used to make them.
The quality of the material is good, but this design is very awkward, with opening at the bottom and very wide. To pour ground nuts out of device, it must be turned upside down, so nuts fall back into hopper, and wide opening makes pouring very messing. This company's older models of grinder were beautifully designed! Oh well!
[Rewarded Review] A grinder, not a chopper
The coarse chop is still fine. This is more of a grinder than chopper. There is no way to take it apart to clean it. All you can do is spray it with water %26 that foesbt remove the oils from the nuts.
Works well after 1 month
Although the chopper seems flimsy, it does a great job on soft nuts such as walnuts and pecans. For almonds, I put 4-5 in the chamber and chop in both directions. The chopper is sturdier than it looks. It is way better than using a mallet with a plastic bag to chop nuts.
The grinder grinds almost too
The grinder grinds almost too well. Even turning the handle in the coarse direction, the pecans were too fine, a powder almost. I will still keep it but may try working with it a bit longer to see if I can fine tune my grinding technique.
Could be perfect chopper
Love the thought put into this chopper. Great that you can chop course or fine. Great that the bottom portion measures your chopped nuts and has a removable base to transfer your finished nuts. I’m a bit concerned on how stiff the turning mechanism seems to be. Somewhat difficult to turn the blades. Time will tell if it loosens up.
An OK chopper
I used this carefully to chop walnuts for banana bread. I got more "dust" than I expected. Have not had time to test on almonds or hazelnuts, but will give them a whirl soon. I do like that it has a measure markings on the bottom cup.
Grinds great, but poor design for removing nuts
I loved everything about this grinder: looks, ease of grinding, choice of fine or coarse grind until it was time to use the ground nuts. They remove from the bottom, so you have to use all that you ground and they come out faster than sometimes needed. You can't sprinkle or store any for later. I bought this to replace a 50+ old grinder. The top came off on the old one and you could use the nuts as needed. I will use this grinder until I can find one similar to my old one.
This product did not work
This product did not work very well…the nuts were ground to almost a powder on the coarse setting, so was really disappointed. It was advertised as having a non-skid base, but it as life’s all over the counter…no suction at all. I was very disappointed in this product.
Nut so great
I have used this nut chopper a few times now but am not sold on it. There was not much difference between the coarse and fine grinds, and some nuts would always get caught in the chopping blades. Also, the bottom is very hard to remove, and the first time I tried to open the bottom, the nuts went all over the place. The next time I used it, I removed the bottom and ground the nuts onto a cutting board.
My search for the perfect nut grinder is over.
I already had one of these nut grinders and love it. My daughter was visiting, loved it too, and wanted one for Christmas. I highly recommend it. So easy to use. The chopping blades blades are thinner and wider than my previous grinders. These cut through nuts with ease. And the base has cup measure marks! The tucked in "waist" is so easy to grip. I just love it.
This item is perfect. It
This item is perfect. It chops the nuts well, it's easy to see the measurement marks on the container, and it keeps the nuts contained until you're ready to use them. I am very pleased with this purchase.
We love our Dual Grind
We love our Dual Grind Nut Chopper!! Ease of use is soooo versatile! So many recipes during the holidays call for finely chopped nuts. This chopper saves time. I've experimented on other food recipes that call for "finely chopped", including our favorite chicken salad.
Evenly sized chopped nuts
This little chopper makes fairly evenly sized chopped nuts. I've tried almonds and hazelnuts only, and I'm happy with it. Although a lot more work than my fancy food processor. The processor leaves big chunks as well as fine flour-sized dust, and I can't adjust the speed of grinding. King Arthur's chopper gives pieces watermelon seed-size. Only four stars since it has to be very firmly held to the counter and it requires a lot of effort to grind them.
Although it has a larger
Although it has a larger capacity than my ancient nut chopper I was honestly disappointed in this. It is messy to empty, you have to turn it upside down and pull a cover off that spews nut chittles around. I assumed it would unscrew at the top. Also is has a dual size option where if you turn the handle one way you get a small sized chop and the opposite way gives a bigger size chop. Well, the bigger size isn't as big as I hoped and I am still chopping nuts with a knife to get the larger size I prefer. I still use it to grind walnuts to add to my dog food so it is useful.
This versatile, sturdy grinder is
This versatile, sturdy grinder is simple to use, easy to clean (because it can be opened on both ends to access the chopper area) and well designed. It is much better than another common nut grinder of similar design but lighter construction. The option to fine or coarse grind nuts makes it especially useful.
Awesome Nut Grinder!
I just love this but grinder! I did not expect it to be such great quality, I was just looking for a quicker way to grind nuts. I love that you can do a fine or coarse grind, super handy if you are baking with your nuts or using them for salads or stuff like oatmeal (mostly what we use them for). It can grind a lot of nuts very quickly. It’s a tiny little work horse.
The nut grinder works well
The nut grinder works well - does exactly what I want, and is durable and sturdy. I gave it a 4-star rating only because it is difficult to clean. The bottom comes off, which allows for wiping out the compartment. However, there's no way to thoroughly clean the grinding mechanism, which sometimes captures and holds on to nut pieces. I used a butter knife to loosen them, which isn't a great option.
Holy Cow!
More than 60 years ago, my grandparents had either this, or something identical. I remember that it worked very well, though I thought it was ridiculous. Why would you want, I wondered, to take perfectly good walnuts, which you tried very hard to get out of the shell as large and intact as possible, and chop them into small bits? The passage of six decades has provided the answer that I did not see at the time.
