Good Idea but . . . .

Got this to level out a brick sidewalk which had raised slightly. Had high hopes, but when I went to knead the mixture, the seam blew out getting the mixture into the track of the closer. Couldn't close it and couldn't get the mixture fully mixed. Should have poured it into another container but didn't.

Reliable product!

I have been buying this quick dry cement for years. You can fix broken concrete in no time. Always works well for me but make sure you buy enough as its mainly for small jobs. Comes with an adequate applicator but a bit small for cracks mostly. Larger areas needs a larger applicator.

Disappointed

Have a long flagstone walkway that had several areas of grout between the flagstones that needed repair or replacement. I was hesitant to try this product but the specs seemed applicable and I only needed a minimum amount of mortar. I opened the 1st of 2 bags and added exactly 10 ounces or water. Sealed the bag, started to knead it, and found there was a hole near the zip closure. Clearly 10 ounces was not enough - needed closer to 20 by the time I was done. I worked fast but the 15-20 minute working time was wrong. This setup way too fast and about a third of the mix was wasted as it got hard in the bag in about 10 minutes. So I opened the 2nd bag and found the same problems: hole in the bag near the zip closure, needed much more water than specified, setup way too fast, and wasted about 1/3 of the mix. Overall, very disappointed. Will not buy this again and recommend against it.

Undamaged products work very well

Purchased 2 of these but one was delivered with a tear in the bag making it unusable. However the second bag was sufficient to fill the 4 holes in my cement pool deck. The holes were approx 3 1/2" in diameter and 1/2" deep. Product mixed well and was easy to apply per the instructions. It worked very well. Dried without cracking and blended near perfectly - after painting you can't tell where the holes were.

Quick and easy repair

Installing a dishwasher, the tiles in the back were never installed. Purchased the zip and mix 3 lb repair, it was self leveling just enough to do the job. Quick and easy no Mus no fuss. Dried in 15 minuets, and did the trick. Recommend this product for any similar repair jobs around the house

Does it work? Yes. But, it said not to mix more than you could use in 15 minutes. I followed the directions exactly, and it was getting hard and crumbly after only 5 minutes outside. I ended up throwing half the bag away because it dried so fast. The stuff I actually got to use was perfect, but overall I was disappointed in the product.

Great - with some tips

Had to fix brick after being cut to insert a door from a window change out. Anyway I read the tips many offered in other reviews. I agree that it is better to mix in a small bucket versus the bag. While it seems convenient, it's just less risky and easier to access in a small bucket (or plastic container your going to recycle anyway). For me, I only needed half a bag, so I weighed out half in my bucket and added half the water. Worked perfect.

Good product. Easy to use.

Got this to patch a small hole in our garage slab that had been there since the house was built.

Works well but difficult to mix to a smooth consistency

In theory the packaging is all in 1 meaning you dont need a seperate container to mix it. I prefer pouring the powder into a conainer and mixing it seperately as its difficult to get a smooth consistency in the packaging. If I rated this on my use (fixing an outdoor fireplace / chiminea) I would rate it a 3 as it cracked after a few fires but since its not rated for my use I am giving it 4*, would have given it 5* if the packaging was bigger allowing more room to mix.

Suggest avoiding this product - waste of money

I bought this hoping to manage a small concrete repair rather than buying a larger portion of the same product. I read and reread the instructions. Followed them to the letter. Used a timer to make sure I kneaded the mortar for the right amount of time.

Waste!

TRY TO MIX A CUP OF WATER INTO A SEAL BAG WITHIN 3 MINUTES! Not gonna happen, of course. You end up with half the bag content being "somewhat usable", the other half being to powdery, and 10 minutes left before the fast-set mortar is no longer workable. Also once you start, the seal on the bag gets dirty and you can no longer seal is back to remix the mortar.

Innovative way to buy and mix cement mortar

This was an easy way to mix cement repairing some steps. After doing a lot of research, I determined that repair mortar would be my best option and this was a great way to do it. The mix in bag is very innovative. The included "trowel" was a nice extra, although it is really just a plastic putty knife. I found that using a larger trowel or putty knife was helpful and using gloved hands to round out the edge also worked well. A few observations and tips. Buy more than you think you will need, it does not go as far as you think it will and I ended up making a second trip to buy two more bags mid repair. Be careful when you add the water and squeeze the bag so that the water does not come back out. Getting all the mixture out of the bag required squeezing the bag more than trying to use the putty knife like tool to get it all out. But, the repair ended up working quite well, and I am very happy with the resutl.

Poor mix and quick dry mess

Was in Canadian Tire buying a vehicle map light and saw they had this product I needed to finish a job I started the day before (but ran out of a competitor's product which worked really well) - this saved me a trip to competitor and was happy.

Good product in the right size

I use this for point repair of my brick. I have brick stairs and brick facade. I like this for its size and added strength. Yes, for the same price I could buy a 50 lb bag of mortar at the local big store but who wants to keep that around trying to store it in your garage when it's already ripped open?

This product is a great IDEA and I would use again for fine cracks, but it needs modification to work well. I'm happy with the final outcome but I would mix in small sets using a bit more water. It dried rapidly as I needed on a cold day when the temperature was only good for a short time. It hardens EXTREMELY quickly and 3/4 of my package wasted because it hardens as you knead. By the time the little water mixed in, it was already hardening. As said on the package, only mix what you need. You may need a separate zipper bag. The directions lack guidance about how much water to how much of the product so you have to figure it out unless you are using the whole bag. I mixed the whole bag. Kneading wasn't easy and the zipper doesn't reseal. I also felt as if the water recommended wasn't enough for the quantity in the bag but I only used it this once so... Maybe it is good for a single fill of a single hole. I chose this because I didn't feel confident to mix my own cement, but if you do and you have a bigger project, may be better to go that route. This is a TINY quantity but great for quick drying.

Directions were sort of lacking - says to add 10 oz of water to the bag...later says only mix as much as you can work in 15 minutes, does not say if the bag is reusable or if you can mix this stuff separately in a bowl or something, just says to knead the bag after you add the water. Does not say if you only use x amount of the kneaded product if you can zip the bag and use the rest of the kneaded product later. So a lot of unanswered questions. I followed directions to just use the whole bag with the 10 oz of water - had two underside porch edge areas to fill in (about 6" and 3" wide x 3" high) , kneaded the product in the bag, could feel the 'heat' chemical reaction, opened the bag and the mortar at the top of the bag did indeed come out as advertised however about 2/3 of the rest of it barely got any water and was nothing more than brittle and unusable. Tried adding the additional 2 teaspoons of water as suggested and this didn't help. The only good thing is that I was able to get enough product out of this to patch the two areas and it was very simple to mold and to work with, it did the job, is stable, attached well and overall this was worth the $8 for the bag of it though I could only use about 1/3rd of it. They also sell this in a premixed form for about $20 but it is generally only available if you order it online from the big box stores so if you are in a hurry then you probably will just end up buying this mix but...I'd suggest if you can to just order the premixed stuff as that likely will work a lot better and you'll have less waste. I have no idea why this isn't just stocked as a premix. You can work this with a putty knife (they include one on the bag), you don't really need a trowel if you are just doing a small area. Not a bad product but this bag mixing deal is sort of a disaster.

Good Product for Brick House Repairs

Recently purchased this product to repair some cracks and fill-in several gaps in the brickwork on the exterior of my house. The mortar works really well for this type of project, though there are several improvements that could be made:
