50 gal Reliance gas water heater

This heater has a blue cap in the cold inlet nipple that is for energy efficiency, do not remove it. Both nipples are lined with light blue plastic to help fight corrosion, do NOT try to remove! Installation on this heater was straight forward but required modifications to the Cold and Hot lines, the gas connection and to the exhaust flu. I replaced the 3" flue (6' and 2 90 degree elbows) because the old one was rotten and rusted through in places. I upgraded from a 40 gal to this 50 gal water heater because the price was only $40 more. Total install price without labor was $650. $500 w/h + $150 plumbing supplies and tools to complete.

Works Great

Needed a new hot water heater since ours was regularly needing new thermocouples at 16 years old. Upgraded to the 50gal from our old 40gal and couldnt be happier so far.

Just what I needed.

My old water heater picked the worst time to break and I didn't want anything fancy to replace it. This was just the ticket. Simple and easy to install, has better reserve capacity than my old unit. It makes cold water hot with minimum fuss.
