Worked for a week
The rod worked great for about a week. Then it fell down, scraping paint and gouging my freshly painted window. 😡 I tried twice more, making the tension so great I could barely get it in the window opening and it fell again. The box it arrived in was obviously patched together so maybe someone else had the same problem and returned it. I’d return it but, unfortunately, I threw the box away because it was in such bad shape and now I’m stuck with a worthless tension rod.

As a 5’, 64 yr. young single female I was a bit skeptical about installing this rod by myself. The rod is easy enough to put together and expanding the tension was ok but it became tricky because of my lack of upper body strength. To install the rod, the rod needs to be held in place while pushing it against the opposite wall with enough force to cause it to reduce in size. I was not able to do this and so the only other alternative was to shimmy each end of the rod up the wall in 2-3” increments. I used my bed and a 24” stool to go from one end to the other, back and forth until I got it to the desired height of about 9’. The rod is definitely heavy duty enough but it does sag a tiny bit in the middle. It might have needed more tension but I did the best that I could and time will tell.
Heavy duty tension rod for French door curtains
Had purchased a Walmart Mainstay 1” tension rod for curtains for my French door. Any pull on the curtain to open or close would cause the rod to fall. Eventually the rod completely lost the ability to tighten.

This tension rod is strong. I am using it on my apartment balcony to hold an outdoor curtain to keep the sun off my apartment. It gets windy here and I was concerned that it would hold. It's been almost 2 months and doing fine. I don't know how it will do in the rain yet and plan to take it down for the winter. Initially I put each end on a flat surface without enough tension and the wind in the curtains pulled it down. I increased the tension and placed one end at the thinner end of a shingle so when it was pulled the thicker end would tighten the tension further. It's working and the ends have not moved at all.

Absolutely would buy this item again. I purchased these for my basement as a temporary privacy screen when needed. Two 80-120" rods and I extended each to approx. 93" and the other to 113". One side had 8 light blocking (not black out) 30" panels and the other had 10 light blocking (not black out) 30" panels and it holds perfectly and looks beautiful. Although satiny, these are not sheer but medium weight panels. They have been up for about two weeks and the rods are holding up great. Wish I had picture of them fully opened looks like a pretty satiny wall.
It works
This was the only tension rod that I could find that would fit as a room divider for our kid's room. I needed it to go across almost 12 ft. First of all when I received it, it seemed much flimsier than I expected. It had a scuff on it (which you cannot actually see once it is up) but what was worse, the plastic ring that helps to keep it locked into place was mangled. Thankfully I was able to straighten it out and push it into place bc I didn't want to have to exchange it. For the price that I paid I would expect a little better quality. Once it is up, it sags in the middle. To be fair it is a very long rod, so that is to be expected. I installed a center mount from the ceiling which fixed the problem but kind of defeated the purpose of a tension rod since I was trying to avoid drilling into the ceiling/walls. Overall it did what it was supposed to do and it does stay in place when installed tightly. If you have a long span I would suggest 2 people to install it.
Excellent tension rod!
Outstanding! Met my need perfectly for a good, cost effective solution to needing curtains for 3 sliding doors, 115 inches wide, opening to my lanai/pool. Concrete block framing makes screwing in curtain rod hardware difficult and I needed the opened curtains all to one side, not split in the middle with 1/2 opened to each side. The wide span made that even more expensive. Hard to find a tension rod wide enough for the span. This rod was wide enough! The tension rod arrived quickly, assembled easily after reading the instructions. I liked the non marking, wide end plates. Seems robust and well made. Looks good. Just a point...remember to check to see if grommeted curtain panels need to be fed onto rods before connecting, as mine did not fit over the end plates, so had to be fed on before assembling. Plan to order a second one for a 7 foot wide window! 110 % satisfied with this product for my needs.
