It's a mess!

The directions specifically say you will need 5 cups of batter, so I used 2 1/2 cups in each pan. It says to bake for 30 min. It has been in the oven for 45 minutes and is still not done. The batter is running down the sides of the pans and pooling on the cookie sheet.

Too thin

I didn’t get to use the pans. They are made too thin and became misshapened before i even unboxed them. Perhaps if there had been better protection in the box so that the pans could maintain their shape, I would have had the opportunity to try them.

Good for what it was

I was looking for something I could use to make a starwars cake and this worked out, I do feel like the pan itself is very cheaply made and it bends very easily. my cake also didn't cook evenly at all inside of it so that was a disappointment as well

[Rewarded Review] Cake pan

This product would be useful for several ideas. You could make sports, baby shower, gender reveal and unique cakes. There is no limit to what you can come up with. My idea is a baby shower cake with the gender reveal as the baby belly of mom.

[Rewarded Review] Perfect for a Soccer Cake!

I purchased this to make a soccer cake for our end of season party. This worked perfectly! I wish I remembered to take a picture. This item included detailed instructions on how to make the cake and how how to decorate each ball.

[Rewarded Review] Have a BALL while baking!

Great product overall! Worked well for a basketball cake. The cake took longer to bake than the included directions suggested. A little smaller than I thought, however the dimensions are clearly given.

[Rewarded Review] A Ball for any sport

This ball pan set works a promised with the two halves connecting easily with frosting and it keeps its shape. The only problem is that the cake batter takes longer to bake because of the density of the pan. Yoy also have to make sure to grease and flour it well or you won't be able to get it freely out of the pan.

flutey

Just bought this tin to make an ice cream cone cake. Cake took 50 minutes to cook as per a previous review but baked very uneven and was hard and crispy round the edges and just cooked through in the middle. I used a 4 ounce 2 egg mix which was just sufficient for the tin. Don't know what 5 cups of batter specified on the instructions are. How can I rectify the hard crispy edges? The cake also sank in the middle during the early cooking stages when the oven had not been opened - never had this happen before despite making hundreds of cakes!!!!

Great results!

I needed this set to create a corset cake. While it wasn't difficult, I was VERY GLAD for the instructions. Without them, I would have been very confused - how much batter to use, how long to bake, how to cool the cake, etc. Got great results without having a do-over. I have long used Wilton pans as well as Fat Daddy O. I'm really loving this pan because it also came with the rings to hold the ball upright and level during baking. The only down side is it is REALLY thin and you can change the shape of the pan if you aren't careful. Also, hand wash only or you'll mar the finish.

Fun!

These are fun to bake with but you do have to be careful to put the base stand in the center of the bowl so your two sides are not lopsided. After your cake is finished, I recommend cooling it and freezing it before you put the two sides together because it may make it very difficult to frost if you don’t have a firm foundation of the cake itself. Using frosting tips are going to be most helpful With this shape of cake.

So disappointed!

I bought this lab a few years ago and finally broke it out of the box to use for my son's Star Wars Death Star cake. The instructions in the box are not what is currently online. Wish I knew that before I ended up with too much batter in the molds, the wrong temp and a surprisingly long bake time. Now we have a saggy Death Star. They should include a recipe for a firm cake that will definitely work. My guess is that a lot of people used a box mix and had good results based on the reviews.

Not for beginner bakers

Texture: Pan material is thin and light, can easily dent if not properly taken care of

Pan Ned's to be made of more heavy material.

I bought the sport ball pan and the football pan be cause my three grate gragsons are very much into both of these games. Also I have a friend that has a thing for penguins. And since I am an artist and paint naturalist I thought that useing the foot ball pan for the body with a little carving of the cake and for the head I would use the one half of the sports and make an egloo of the other half. How ever when bakeing the sports ball it took a full Fifty minutes to cook. I made a test at thirty minutes as was your time to bake it and it was still just like the batter was when I had first put it in the pan and had a hard crust formed around the edge of the pan. The cake did rise to the top of the pan and then began to deflate. The same thing happened to the foot ball. How ever I did manage to trim this hard edge away and use the rest of the cake for my project.I would not recommed these two cake pans for any one to buy. I have many other pans with Turkeys, Christmas trees and many others. They are made of a much heavier medal and bake very well. I am sending a photo of my project and must say it did turn out well even with all the difacultys I ran into. Since I am 91 years of age and have been baking for at least 80 some years I feel that it was no fault of mine that that the cakes turned out the way they did. I would not recommend these two cake pans to any one special to a new baker.

Works fine for what I need.

The cake turned out fine and baked evenly but watch out, even after following directions and only putting shorting on the inside of the pan, the cakes still got stuck. I would recommend putting a small (silver dollar size) piece of parchment paper on the bottom to prevent this. Also the description says that these pans are sturdy. I would have to call bluff on that. One of mine came with a little dent in it and they could definitely be easily misshaped if handled or stored improperly. But like I said, I made it work and it does the job I need it to.

May take some trial and error.

I needed to make a basketball cake for my nephews bday so I decided to practice a few times before the final cake was made. I learned a lot along the way.

Great product, however it can be "fiddly" to use.

A great product that doesn't cause the cake to stick or cook unevenly.

awful pan!

the only way I will be using this ball pan is to make fondant decorations or something like that that it needs a rounded shape. It is flimsy. The cake batter will never cook in the center. If you bake the cake until the "center of the cake is done" the cake batter that was in contact with the pan will be rock hard super dry!!! I threw out the cake because it collapsed when I checked to see if it was done. Since the outer edge was super done I thought it was fully done (meaning the center) after 50 minutes of baking!!!! (why so long? it was never done!!!!!!) guess what! super raw and liquid-y in the center! It was one of my fav cake recipes that never fails. What a horrible pan! I am an experienced baker so I know what I am talking about. Now, I bake from scratch so maybe this pan is good for cake mixes.

I used this pan to make a

I used this pan to make a basketball for March Madness and it is great. Easy to use and when the two pieces are put together They make a perfect ball. But, the best project I made was a baby cake. I baked one half of the cake mix in the pan and the other half in an 8 inch pan. The half of ball was placed on a 9inch round with fondant and then covered with fondant. Then, I made a blanket with fondant and covered the top half of the ball with the blanket. I put a ruffle around the bottom half to make a ruffled diaper. It was awesome! Very easy to use and perfect shape. The pan gives great directions and is easy to use. Just make sure that it is greased well. I use Wilton's cake release and come up with perfect cakes every time!

I bought the "sports ball

I bought the "sports ball pan set" couple years ago, use it once to make a volleyball for my daughter who played volleyball. My daughter was very happy. And this same daughter loves penguin, last month was her birthday and I made a 3-D penguin cake out of this sports ball pan set. My daughter was more happier and it was a surprise birthday cake for her. The penguin was holding a banner that said, "HappyBirthday". I made a chocolate cake, put it together for the body, then a white cake for the head, use only half the cake, and cut it into smaller round head. The other half of white cake, was the igloo. I love the pan, what more can I ask for, thank you Wilton.
