(Rewarded Review) My dogs went crazy for this dry food!
Both my dogs tried the Royal Canine dry food, and it's safe to say they love it! I usually have to soften their food with water, but they didn't give me a chance as they were in a rush to eat it. I already have them on Royal Canine wet food and will likely make a permanent switch oh their dry food. One of my pups is a picky eater, but she ate this like it was a treat. I think it's worth paying a bit extra for the quality. I'd rather feed my furbabies something they love vs. the cheap stuff.
(Rewarded Review) Excited for meal time!
This review was collected as part of a promotion. I already feed my dog Royal Canin, but I hadn’t tried this particular formula before. She absolutely loved it, and I’m seriously considering switching to this kind. It seems to meet all her nutritional needs while keeping her happy and excited at mealtime!
I’ve been feeding my dog Size Health Nutrition™ Small Adult Dry Dog Food for a few weeks now, and she absolutely loves it! We used to buy a different brand, but since switching, I’ve noticed she has more energy, and every time I fill her bowl, she runs over excitedly. The kibble is the perfect size for her, and she seems to really enjoy the taste. I’ll definitely be repurchasing this one. I received this product as a free sample.
My little dogs loved this! My 14 year old shihtzu has had all but 4 of her teeth removed so she eats mostly soft food, but she gets a bit of hard food now and then, the issue I've found is even the small breed dog food is too big for her to handle. This stiff is comparable to kitty kibble, it's the perfect size. I add a little warm water and in less than 2 min she's got it gobbled up. I will definitely be purchasing this for her after this bag is done.
I’ve been trying to find the perfect dog food for my picky eater, and Royal Canin Adult Petit dog food has been a game changer! My dog usually turns his nose up at most brands, but he genuinely loves this one. The kibble size is perfect for small dogs, and the ingredients seem to be tailored for their nutritional needs. It’s been a relief to see him enjoy his meals, and I’m confident he’s getting quality nutrition. Highly recommend for any small dog owners with finicky pups!
Royal Canin Small Bites Dry Dog Food
We have been purchasing this particular dog food for over 12+ years. We have two small dogs - a 9 lb minature poodle and a teddy bear dog who weighs 20 lbs. Both love the food. The poodle has lost some teeth but still has no problem eating it. It looks like small stars. Highly recommend with good nutrition.
Speedy shipping & competitive prices
We've ordered the 6.36kg bags of Royal Canin Small Adult Dry Dog Food from PetMax.ca five times now and couldn't be more impressed. If we buy two bags, we get free and incredibly fast shipping and they last us a good while. We also appreciate that these bags are competitively priced compared to other chain pet stores. I'd have to watch for it to go on sale elsewhere but don't have to worry about that here. Thank you!
Dog doesn’t chew
Adopted A 7 yr old miniature poodle. Vet recommended Royal Canin. I bought the small adult dry kibble. Unfortunately, my dog doesn’t chew the food, just swallows it whole. I’ll be looking for a bigger kibble size. These are very small. I would recommend, just not for my dog.
Love it
Had my dogs on royal canin chihuahua mix but we are getting a new yorkie puppy and didn’t want to have to buy two different foods so we are making the switch to this one. My dogs love it. Trying to gradually make the change but they literally are picking out the new food and not eating the chihuahua mix. I bet they wish we would have made this change awhile ago.
Goldendoodle likes it!
In my honest opinion, the ingredients for this kibble do not seem to be the greatest but with this being said, I really love this brand of dog food. I am not sure how they do it, but my dog seems to love it, he thriving on it. No tummy issues Very energetic very healthy coat overall no gases in his tummy. I did follow the transition recommendation. No allergies. Been on it for 2 wks. RC must know what they’re doing because he’s doing really good on this one, so I will continue to purchase. My pup is almost 9 months. Thank you RC!
Very Excellent
Royal Canin was recommended to me by my vet. Since changing to Royal Canin, my mini-Schnauzers have not experienced an episode of pancreatitis. I am thrilled with this! Next, the size of the kibble is small. Leah and Penny have no trouble eating it, even with few teeth. I highly recommend Royal Canin. It comes in many variations, including vet prescribed versions. Make the switch. Your dogs will love you for it!
Bad EXPENSIVE Dog Food
If I could give this minus 5 stars I would. After feeding this to my 2 dogs, they became sick and constipated. And I was unaware that they changed the shape of the pellets. The first bag was round pellets. These pellets look and smell like cat food. This is definitely not cheap food and I spend a lot of money at Chewy. I still have the bag (obviously opened) and would like to know how to return as I would NEVER donate to a shelter or another person for their pet. I also ordered wet food which has not been a problem.
Disappointing
Royal Canin has always been my first choice. I have been feeding my small breed dogs Royal Canin for 12 years but somewhere during the pandemic I heard from my breeder and vet that the formula may have changed maybe due to unavailability of high quality products. I am a healthcare provider, and I pay attention to the ingredients. My dogs quit eating as much and they lost weight 2022-2023. I switched them to a better food brand and they loved it and gained their weight back and look healthier. Not sure what changed but it was very disappointing.
Pup likes it
My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is just over a year old and has a very sensitive tummy. She’s been eating Royal Canin Puppy/Chiot from the beginning and did well on it, but I knew it was time for an adult food. I “graduated” her to the small adult formula dry dog food and she instantly took to it. She seems to enjoy the slightly larger size of the individual kibble and during the transition, she’d pick out the new food and leave the old. Her poop has firmed up, too, so it’s doing something right.
First ingredient is corn
I got this for my feisty little rescue Layla. She’d been on Origen grain free. I mixed it 50 x 50 but she still had an allergic reaction. Itchy feet, nonstop licking. Then I saw the no. 1 ingredient was corn, aye yai yai not for us!
Only Food My Dog Will Eat
My dog (small Husky mix, 26 ish lbs) has been picky with her dry food ever since I rescued her almost 3 years ago. It was a process of trial and error to finally find a kibble she would free feed on, but I still did not give up on one day finding something she would actually enjoy and want 2 meals a day of. Along comes my revelation: I noticed that whenever I give her scraps of veggies, she would only eat them if I cut them into very small pieces. So, I began thinking, what if this is the problem with her kibble? She's right on the brink between being called a small dog and a medium dog, so I thought, maybe she would prefer small dog food, aka smaller pieces of kibble? And lo and behold, we are going on 3 weeks now and she has eaten every single meal in one go. It never upset her stomach, made her itchy, or caused any other problems, and I will definitely be continuing buying this food for my girl.
Price increase
My Havanese has been on Royal Canin since she was a puppy and we have never had an issue. Started her on the small/petit puppy version then moved to the adult small/petit after 10mo. We recently got a Frenchie and have had him on the same regime and it’s working great, however, I am very disappointed in the very recent price increase for both the puppy and adult versions. Even with auto ship you aren’t saving that much. It’s a crying shame this is the world we are living in nowadays and what can we do about it besides continue to struggle and make ends meet. Anyways, that’s my rant for the day. We love our dogs they’re our babies so of course we’re going to continue to pay for it. (just another way they get you cause you know with dogs you can’t just give them anything and everything or switch food/treats up like that bc their stomachs are finicky and some suffer from allergies).
Dogs don't care for it
I purchased this food thinking I would give my dogs a little bit of variety in their kibble besides their normal Royal Canine Yorkshire Terrior kibble which they love and S&C freeze dried. They have eaten just a few bites here and there but they really don't seem interested in it at all. I normally feed them Weruva or Stella and Chewy's wet foods as well but am stopping the wet food purchasing because of digestive issues with 3 of my dogs. I won't purchase again unless they start eating it and will just be sticking with the Yorkie kibble and S&C freeze dried dog foods for the future. 4 stars cause my dogs aren't real interested in it
Finicky eater
My Maltipoo was never picky until she reached 1 year. Maybe she just got bored with eating the same food all the time. She used to run to her bowl when it was feeding time and gobble up every last morsel and let out a hearty burp afterwards ,since she barely came up for air during the process. After she turned 1 year she stated to put her little nose up to the food. (Royal Canin). I tied another brand and she wasn't that thrilled with that either. She would eventually eat but she waited until she was starving. This was her behavior on and off. She also was getting a bit spoiled and we would give her some enticing incentives (people food) such as chicken, fish or whatever we would be eating for dinner ourselves. I know that didn't help matters and only added to her not wanting dog food. At that same time I noticed she would wake in the morning and vomit. Saliva or bile since all the food she ate the night before had digested but she started to develop a sour stomach. Somedays she was fine while other days she would be off. I told the vet and we took her off all treats, the chewing sticks as well as giving her any people food(I might add, we never gave her large amounts of people food just a few tiny pieces to add some incentive to eat her food). Vet recommended Hills Science diet for digestion issues. She seemed to like the food at first but got bored with it like the others. However, I didn't cave and we gave her nothing else. After 3 months of being on Science diet brand I thought, let me go back to Royal Canin and see if she likes it and if any of the digestion issues return. I had a feeling that her issues stemmed from spoiling her with people food and the possibility that it might be harder for her to digest (even the very scant amounts we gave her) along with the various doggy treats that were giving her(again, we didn't overdue the treats at anytime that would spoil her appetite). She gobbled up the Royal Canin immediately. No stomach issues anymore and she prefers the Royal Canin again over the Hills Science Diet. I actually mix it up for her and that seems to work. After looking back, I really think her issue was with those synthetic chewing sticks. Once I got rid of the sticks (for which she LOVES..they keep her busy since she has endless energy!), she no longer vomits and eating more normal again. She will sometimes still put her nose up in the air when she has just plain dog food no matter what brand at times, but overall I think problem solved.
First ingredient is CORN?!
I have two Shihtzu-Bichon mixes. I bought this at the recommendation of a vet that was at a dog event I attended. My dogs get awful tear stains and are very prone to allergies. We tried grain free which helped the stains but then the study came out about the heart issues. This vet said what she uses is Royal Kanin for her dogs so I figured if a vet uses it herself, it must be good. And it may be good for some breeds. However, since using this for less than two months BOTH of my dogs have yeast infections in their ears (now on ear-drop medication), their allergies are the worst they’ve been even while using prescription allergy medication and their feet and bottoms are stained red from the yeast in their saliva and the excessive licking. After some research I found that many of the ingredients in this food are very starchy which transitions to sugar which can develop yeast. When looking after the fact (my fault) I discovered CORN is the first ingredient with chicken corn meal as the second one. I’ve heard many dogs have issues with chicken as well. I am ordering a new food this week to start transitioning them again. A friend uses a limited ingredient food that I am going to try with lamb and brown rice. (My vet said lamb or turkey are a good option as opposed to chicken.)The brown rice being the only grain in it. I hope this works!! I have spent the first two years of their lives and excessive amounts of money on food and medication and still struggling to find the right food! Pinot has had two surgeries this month due to a ruptured cyst and abscess. Been a rough month! I just hate that in addition to that, she is dealing with allergy and yeast problems. Wish me luck on the next one!!
