hard to attach brakets onto wire shelves.

I just spent $250 on this system. I purchased the rail, 3 70" uprights and 4 shelves. It will work great once I wrestle the brackets into place on the wire shelves. Big hassle. The Sterling company makes a better, easier and just as strong system.

The shelving unit I purchased had a mix of screws. Most of the screws were too small. The screw heads would fit through the holes, which should not happen.

36" FastTrack Wire Shelving Install

I really like the Rubbermaid FastTrack system, but I must echo the sentiments of others when trying to install the wire shelves for the 36" kit. Thank you to reviewer boingboing for the awesome tips. To expand a bit on boingboing's tips, I have the following suggestions. If you look at the brackets, you'll notice the end has a scoop rest for the horizontal wire and a slot for the vertical wire. Starting on the right, line up the right side with the third vertical wire. Starting from the right, count to the eighteenth vertical wire, and align that with the middle bracket. For the left bracket, count in three from the left. Now, following boingboing's instructions, starting on the right end, line up that middle horizontal rod to its corresponding middle notch, while also making sure that the front horizontal wire is lined up with its corresponding notch. Press down on the middle part with your left hand, and with your right hand, push the front part towards the wall. The shelf will snap into place on that bracket. Just repeat these steps on the other two. Take your time. I also recommend finding longer screws to attach the standards, as other reviewers have noted, the supplied screws are too short. You'll want at least 2" screws. Rubbermaid gives you 1 1/2" which is fine for the rails, but not the standards.

Great shelving units

I've did my whole garage with the shelving units in particular, I think they're a great system.

Great shelves for garage organization

Product was well packaged and had clear instructions on installation/assembly. The shelves were easy to build and work as expected.

Noticed Damage Too Late

The first thing you need to do when you buy this product is pull the stack of shelves apart and inspect each one for bent wires! We didn’t notice the damage when the shelves were stacked together but, on the last step of installation, we noticed! By then it seemed absurd to take everything apart to shove it back in the box to drive it back to Lowe’s to see if they would exchange the “used” items. Both sets that we bought had multiple bent wires.

Poor Design

It is EXTREMELY difficult to attach the shelves to the brackets. There simply has to be a better design, especially considering the price of the product. Or, at the very least, better instructions.

No Issues

I installed 3x36 inch kits with no issues. For those who cannot attach the shelves to the brackets, I am suggesting user error. Not that difficult if you examine the design.

Overall very happy, with some installation trouble

Attachment of the shelves to the brackets was a bit of a puzzle. The trick that worked for me was to flex the shelf to get it to fit into the L-shaped channel on the bracket. Also the hardware was not enough (Seemed like it was missing three screws, and all screws on the "uprights" were not long enough to engage with the studs. I had to use my own hardware).

Beware - Horrible Design! Save ourself the hassle!

I spent $180 on two sets of these and the shelves and brackets are absolutely the worst design I have ever experienced in shelving. The instructions do not show you how to put the shelves onto the brackets because it is absolutely impossible. We spent hours trying to install, researched many how to videos and the complaints were the same across the board.

Don't buy. Another instance of shrinkflation.

The new bracket design is awful. I can't get even 1 of the brackets to fit on one of the shelves. Of course, nobody seems to have the cheap brackets I got with my set so if there's a trick to it, it's nowhere to be found. Everyone else got a bracket system with a locking mechanism for easy installation.... Mines like a puzzle box. So glad I wasted my time and money on this junk. Waste of time and money. Never buying rubbermaid again.

Good product but not enough and wrong screws

This is a great shelving unit but disappointed with the unit that I purchased at Lowe’s….it did not have enough screws and anchors for the holes identified in the instructions. I had to purchase additional screw/anchor packs. And the screws were not correct size for the uprights; they popped right through the holes. I had to add washers so the screws would hold. What blows my mind is that I bought this same set 14 months ago….and had same issues. Do not understand why Rubbermaid has not corrected these issues.
