I love my new lanterns. They are so classy in my room. Love they are made of real wood and the one is really big to fit my 3 candles. Very well made

Warped doors over time

I purchased these lanterns a year ago. They arrived beautiful. I loved them. In a few months time however the doors no longer aligned. There was a gap around door and I can no longer close the clasp. I have a piece of clear tape holding them shut.The wood also faded. I have these placed above a closet in my open foyer so they are not eye level, therefore these imperfections are not very noticeable. If you are going to purchase these for a table or mantle piece I would be wary.

Difficult to separate.

These wood lanterns arrived packed securely, but difficult to separate as the smaller one was inside the larger. Took some work to remove it as I was concerned about breaking the glass. Also, the door hinges didn't latch properly, and needed to be adjusted. They are large in size and look pretty in a grouping with plants and other objects.

Nice lanterns

Nicer than expected. Not sure if the loop is strong enought to hang the lantern, but it is beautiful on a table or mantle. Worth the price

Nice product/poor packaging

Nice products but poor packaging...hence the poor rating These came with the small one packed inside the large one. This caused the glass in the larger one to break. Hayneedle Customer Service was great in sending another, but that was packed and broken in the same way. I've given up.

Look great

The look of PB at a great price. Very pleased.

Shipping Dept. needs training

Probably would have been nice but Hayneedle can't ship them without destroying them. Ordered on set and got a box of broken glass and wood. Got a refund and ordered another set. Practically the same thing second time. I managed to salvage one small lantern. Didn't call back. Terrible packing both times.

"A little MORE than just RUSTIC!"

Received the lanterns quickly and though they were well packaged, the glass in the door of the large lantern was broken. The door does not fit properly as there is a crack where the edge of the door meets the facing. These are a gift for a friend and I have to admit were not quite what I expected! But, as I did think the lanterns have "good bones", I set about fixing them! My husband replaced the glass in the door and I cleaned them up with a little sanding and Liquid Gold. I would not have referred to them as "rustic", though the lanterns I received did look like something that might have set out in the sawmill for 50 + years and collected lots of "weather wear". I have purchased other lanterns and candles from Hayneedle and I do know these were more than worth the price I paid for them and I got an extra 10% off, as well. With a little elbow grease and a few dollars to replace the glass (which I did not ask Hayneedle to do) I now have a lovely gift I am proud to give my friend for only a fraction of the price I would have paid purchasing 2 lanterns this large anywhere else! The metal tops and wood bases are solid and in great condition even though the wooden sides are fragile. The wood still has it's cedar appearance and I believe they will look elegant, as well as rustic, on her fireplace mantle. I will probably order a set for myself, as well.

Disappointing!

I really, really wanted these lanterns for a long time. I was finally able to order but was very disappointed in the quality. The door on the large unit was cut crooked (about 1/4" at the top) and was hung crooked. The seams in both roofs were coming apart. They felt very flimsy. I wanted and expected rustic but NOT such poor workmanship! They went back immediately. Very upset I had to pay to return something so poorly made.

rustic yet elegant

Perfect for those who appreciate the rustic yet elegant look at a bargain price. You couldn't buy one at PB for the price of these two! I was looking for lanterns to use flameless candles and decorate for both fall/thanksgiving and christmas. Using faux fall folliage around the candle inside each lantern, then changing to pine or holly sprigs for christmas. couldn't be easier or more beautiful. these are made in china but well done and just as pictured.

Attractive but fragile

The lanterns look good sitting on my mantle but at close inspection they are constructed poorly. I wouldn't have been bothered by this fact had they not been relatively costly.
