It was difficult to get the main pieces to fit together but once it was built it seems sturdy and looks nice. We ordered for a classroom. There is no good place to label for students name.
Material was not quality that I expected and it was easy to pop through. Also it was difficult to find a label for slide in portion to indicate individual mailboxes. We are making it work as best we can!
Perfect for my new classroom! Very sturdy and easy for my son to assemble.
Outside Sturdy, but Very Involved
The outside of this is very sturdy and well made once put together. The shelves are not the most sturdy, but handle what we need. This has about 200 pieces/parts and is way more involved to put together than anticipated.
Not sturdy for Kindergarten classroom
I like the size of the Safco shelves; however I should have gotten a steel one. The thin boards are always sliding out and the students are pulling the all the way out. I would like if more if they didn't slide out. I have students getting their mail from each slot. Putting the shelves together was not difficult. The pegs did not go in easy. It cracked the shelf when I used my weight. Please consider if you are using this with younger students. I would purchase one that is more sturdy.

Iam a card maker so I wanted it to hold all my different colors of paper. I was worried with some of the reviews. but nothing was missing as you can see and it's very strong. I did not wet the blue pegs and it went together fine. I'm glad I didnt because I had one backwards and it was easy to fix then. I Love it! it's perfect for what I wanted it for. I took my time to put it together. I didnt have any issues with it at all. I might even buy another one . you can put one on top of another if you wish. glad I didnt listen to the bad reviews. I'm writing in 2021. I noticed some of those reviews are pretty old. maybe they improved it. no complaints from me!
3 Star
We purchased this for our office to use as mailboxes. They are a little small for this purpose, not all size envelopes fit, but they look great!

Use care assembling. Tips: When you assemble be sure to drive the pegs all the way in. I was worried about getting the pegs too low or losing them all together and that was a major mistake and they popped laminate off the top when I put the top on. The instructions are just pictures so had they had one line saying "drive pegs all the way in - they will stop where they should" I wouldn't have caused myself grief I did. Also, the laminate and thin particle board combo is quite delicate. So when you nail in the cardboard back to the shelving (it's just cardboard) with the provided nails you have to get the nails dead center on the particle board or you'll have laminate bulging where you don't want it as the particle board gives for the nail. I bought two of these. One had nice shelf inserts with a nice finish. The other had much cheaper shelf inserts which felt very much like heavy cardboard. Probably based on when/where it was sourced. I learned from my mistakes building the first one. Building the second one went better. Once assembled they do the job they need to do for us. Warts and all.
Bought this for my Mom to store different shades of card stock and she was quite happy with it. The most frustrating part of putting it together was that the back is cardboard and wasn't cut with right angles to fit the back properly so of the backing was peeking out from behind the shelf. We spent a long to trying to cut away the extra while still ensuring there was enough to nail in place to the back.

The vertical space between the inside-top of the unit and the first shelf is about 2.2" high. The space between two individual shelves is about 2.3". This is less than the 2 3/8" in the photos, and other people have even said 2.5", but it's just 2.3". Perhaps the 2 3/8 is referring to the distance including the thickness of the shelf. I was going to use it to hold bead organizer boxes. It fits the shorter ones just fine, but I have some slightly taller boxes that it does not fit because of this discrepancy. Other than that, it's a fairly solid piece of furniture. The shelves can be pretty easily lifted upward, but they have small plastic brackets that keep them from sliding out. The shelves themselves are not super thick or strong, but are sturdy enough to hold a reasonable amount of weight. I did not soak the wooden pegs, but they still fit very snugly and the whole thing holds together well even without soaking them. My box did not come with the nails needed to mount the backing, but I had a bunch of my own to use. Overall, a good organizer. For the price, it's pretty solid. Many of the others out there are partly made of cheap cardboard, but this is made of particle board and the shelves are, I believe, MDF. I'll inspect it more closely later and maybe provide more comprehensive dimensions for anyone that needs them.

Assembly was simple - and I'm terrible at assembly. The cherry colored finish on exposed surfaces actually looks good. The product is not finished on the back or bottom so just make sure it's placed on a solid surface and against a wall. The shelves are made of this cardboard-y thin manufactured wood and the color is unfinished so it really looks like you've got cardboard shelves. It won't hurt performance, but you'll see it whenever you look at the unit. MOST IMPORTANTLY -- during assembly, tap the pegs around 2/3 to 3/4 of the way into the three vertical pieces. If you don't do that, when you place the top and bottom pieces in place, the pegs will penetrate through the surface of the horizontal pieces. Yes, that happened to me. Told you that I'm terrible at assembly! Also, tap gently with your hammer. The wood surfaces are easily damaged. For the price this provides very good storage in a compact space. Best review I can offer is that I'm considering buying a second unit.
VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE I PURCHASED IT FOR MY GRAND DAUGHTER AND HER 4TH GRADE CLASSROOM SHE SIMPLY LOVES IT. I WOULD ORDER ASGAIN IF SHE NEEDED IT
Useful, not enough dividers
This was used for paper storage for my online business. It was great for the four years I used it, though did not come with nearly enough dividers. I had some chip board cut to size at a local craft store to solve that particular issues.
Green quality, worth even penny.
I was very impressed with the quality and putting it together was very easy. I would highly suggest this product.
Useful but disappointed
While these mailboxes are sturdy and fit the purpose in which they were intended, they arrived damaged. One of the large main pieces of wood arrived warped in a few places. Unfortunately, this was not noticed until they were almost all put together. Instead of taking them apart, I decided to keep them. As a teacher who pays for classroom supplies, it was quite a disappointment.
We purchased this for my daughter who will be a new First grade teacher this year. She will be using this for her students homework. It was easy to put together and we expect that she will get many years use out of it.
Safco
Exactly what I was expecting. Only complaint is I wish there were more space to attach labels and keep accessible. Pins could also fit in more easily. But it is a flexible system which is great for my document and supply purposes
Pretty sturdy!
Seems pretty sturdy and looks nice. Was actually much heavier than i expected. Very easy to assemble. My only real 'issue' is that there is not enough space on the trays to put peoples names on them. When you need 36 mailboxes for different people, you need to label the slots. The space is about 2 centimeters to do that. I had to put my label maker on the smallest possible font, which worked - but the lettering is tiny.
shelving
serves its purpose - pain to put together, but not hard.
Document Organizer
We work in a healthcare setting . We have many documents . The divider keeps everything neat and tidy . We have the necessary forms to perform our jobs and it keeps us organized so we can expedite our patients and it looks great . Thanks
