It has its good points and things that could be improved
Number one: THERE IS NO SPRING-TENSION PIECE ON TOP, AS STATED IN THE DESCRIPTION. It would be better if there were. As it is, any slippage of the unit will result in top losing snug fit to ceiling, resulting in tipping/falling/possible breakage and injury. I have contacted the manufacturer to ask them whether it's SUPPOSED to be spring-tension and they said NO. I told them the description on Home Depot site states there's a spring. The llllllooooooooooonnnng threaded bolt and butterfly nut that you're supposed to use to make the unit just the right height is not so easy to manipulate. Next: I do like the floor-to-ceiling design because it looks more architectural and makes the ceiling look higher. I would add rubber feet to base to keep it from "walking" with vigorous use, AND I have added rubber disk to top to help it stay snug to ceiling, with so-so results. I have suggested to Trixie that they might consider offering this in gray because I think gray hides more colors of cat hair better. I've also realized that the carpet they are using to cover the platforms has no "tooth" -- it's slippery. Cats can't dig their claws into it at all. So they really have to just jump from one to the next. Can't use claws to help pull themselves up. This is definitely overall a better quality item than the CatCraft floor-to-ceiling tower that runs about $49 -- although it's not quite as streamlined-looking as that one and the beige color keeps it in the realm of the typical tacky cat tower.
This crap my cats fall over all the time ive broken my arms trying to tighten it since i recieved it june 25th if anyone has any suggestions on how to make it stay sturdy please let me know id really appreciate it
No problems what-so-ever
Cats love it and easy to assemble
Top is Difficult to Adjust
Over all a nice cat tree. Small, so it fits great behind the bedroom door in the corner. Base is nearly square, compared to the catcraft tree that is rectangle, but they both fit well in the same space. The top is really difficult to adjust as you have to screw in a very long piece of all thread in the last posts and adjust a nut, washer and wing nut to tighten against the top of the post, which leaves it a wobbly, even once you get it really tight against the ceiling. I really prefer the spring loaded top of the catcraft tree with the plastic end piece that you can cut to length. Makes adjusting it to fit much easier and faster. I like the rope covering the posts better than the cheap carpet covers on the catcraft tree. (These parts do not interchange with the cheaper catcraft tree, as I would have used the top post and spring adjuster off the catcraft and not what came with this one.) The platforms are wider than the cheaper versions, but a little more difficult to access by the cats from each level, with the tree in a corner. I attached one platform to the wall to give this cat tree stability, as it wouldn't stand long without it, even with it braced tight to the ceiling. Looks really nice. Cats like it well enough. Not sure if I'd buy again. May go back to the cheaper tree that is easier to adjust to the ceiling and more stable (I attach two platforms to the wall to keep it in place as well).
Works, but I have some recommendations
I like the way this is put together it's pretty sturdy but I would preferred the box cave to be on a higher level.
very nice
This is a nice cat tree
Looks good but poor design.
I wrote a review & it has not been posted. Why?
Poor design
I assembled this myself, the directions were not very clear. It looked beautiful & I placed it in the front window. My 7# cat enjoyed it for a few weeks. Then it just fell apart. I had to super glue the plastic end that the screws go into. After a week, it fell apart again, & broke my antique lamp. Then I had to brace up the bottom "cube" because it collapsed (cardboard walls) due to the weight. So at this point, it's up & looks good. However, my cat refuses to use it after falling twice from the top shelf. The design is poor, it needs a heavier base to support the weight. Wish I had bought something else. Of course it's over 30 days & I didn't save the box, just money down the drain. Now I am afraid to buy another one made at this company. It looks good but it is poorly constructed. Find something else.
