SANUS Steel Series 26” Speaker Stands

The stands are just fine and as such deserve far more than my two star rating. The reason I have given the speakers such a low rating is this: first, I did not realize that assembly was required. Second, the instructions for the assembly are totally inadequate for the task. For example, the instructions should contain at the outset in glaring color the statement that the corners are number 1 and 2 and that, depending on the corner, the two feet numbered 1 should go on those corners while the 2 feet numbered 2 should go on the other corners. Though this instruction is contained on the form, it is neither well placed nor well marked; as a result, the hapless assembler spends way too much time trying to figure out what has gone wrong with the assembly. Moreover, the two tools—two hex wrenches—are woefully inadequate for screwing the corner bolts into the holes. Ultimately, I used a Phillips screwdriver for this task.

Stands are well built, stable and easy to assemble. Wish the top plates were slightly larger. Sanus states you can fill them with sand for added weight. That would be nearly impossible unless you drill larger holes to put the sand in. All in all a good product.

Even though these stands are rated to hold 35lbs, they feel like they would support 10 times that. They are nicely finished, and should fit in with almost any decor.

Major assembly hassle

While very happy with the speaker stands overall, had a major hassle attaching one of the plastic feet. After many attempts I determined the hole in the metal base didnt properly align with the screw hole in the plastic foot. The only way to make it work was to use a dental burr in a Roto tool to widen the slot in the plastic foot, thus allowing the screw to thread into a hole in base. This was after first trying to file away some of the metal on the corner of the base. Also the stands were delivered in a product box that was completely torn open at both ends, with no double boxing. Luckily no parts were missing or damaged, but not the usual excellent results of many B&H purchases.

Great stands for the money!

Let me start off by saying that I bought these stands for a pair of Klipsch RP-160M's. The stands were pretty easy to put together and felt really solid while doing so. The included hardware was perfect for my needs. Although I probably didn't need the carpet studs, I ended up using them anyway. The studs helped stabilize the speakers even better in the end. These stands were the perfect height for my needs and allowed the horns/tweeters of the speakers to be at just about ear/eye level(38in from the floor). The stands put the top of the speaker about 41.5 inches from the ground.

BEEFY Speaker Stands, well-engineered

I just purchased a set of these two days ago, not the 26" tall ones, the 22" (Part #: UB-SF22-B1) for a pair of old school Polk Audio RT55i bookshelf speakers. For those who know these speakers, they aren't small.....solid wood weighing in about 36 lbs each.. These stands are very high quality, constructed of heavy gauge steel with a power coated, black textured finish. Very industrial looking, I love it. The stands are packed very well too, my box arrived badly beat up but the stands sustained no damage. Constructor, appearance, and finish get 5/5 from me.

Would definitely buy again!

Excellent stand - sturdy. Bottom plate very stable, and large top plate supports my Elac B6 speakers without fear of a galloping grandchild toppling them over! I have 22 stands for the two FRONT B6s (as recommended by Andrew Jones), and 26 stands for the 2 rear B6s - as they have to throw sound over the rear of the sofa. The center speaker is an Elac B5 Center - located above the TV. Great 5+1 system with dual RSL 10s subwoofers.

Excellent Product, great results with NHT SuperOne speakers

Perhaps the best purchase that I have made on -line. The packaging, design and build quality are fantastic. Upon assembly, avoid over tightening the posts by hand ( as I first tried) as they will want to twist away from center. Instead, tighten them slightly by hand, twisting the posts into alignment with the top plate. This will keep the top and bottom plate square. Then fully tighten with the screws through the bottom. I filled mine with crushed walnut shells as I had them on hand. I wanted to buy some extra heavy sand that is used for filling shooting bags, but didn't find any locally.

The stands do not have a high gloss surface, and do not accumulate dust. There are options for both hard surface and carpet flooring. I used Loctite fun-tak adhesive to secure speakers to stands. You can not hide the wires inside the stands. There was a problem with assembling one of the feet to the bottom plate. I called the Sanus tool free number and they sent a replacement right away.

Better sound

The speaker stands were well packaged and arrived undamaged. They were easy to assemble and instructions were clear. Fit was precise and finish was very nice.The speaker stands dramatically improved the sound of my NOLA Boxer speakers. The height was right, getting the tweeter to my ear level. The size of the speaker plate is large enough to hold the speaker.Did two things to damp vibration: Added cat litter (sifted out the dust). Play sand looks like it may leak out over time. Also placed balls of Blu-Tack between the speaker plate and speaker.Two wishes: The speaker stands should come with some machined, rounded brass feet to contact the hardwood floor - don't want to use the included spikes. And the back order time was too long.

Very well built stands

Got these stands for a pair of SVS MBS-02 bookshelf speakers (very heavy), and they work wonderfully. These are very solid, rugged steel stands. The rubber feet on the base are great for wood floors and isolate the stands very well. The spikes are better of course, but only for use on carpet. The mounting methods are fine if your speakers are compatible, but they might not fit all speakers. The instructions are not great, but they're fairly simple to assemble anyways (just remember to use the toothed washers). The wire guides seem somewhat cheap, but they actually work well and help maintain the sleek design.Overall, these are fantastic stands for medium-large bookshelf speakers; they look great, are superbly built, and serve their purpose.
