Check off one problem.

This is a very good lock. We had one in the church that was electric, the power of the batteries would close and open the bolt, but it kept jamming and people couldn't get in, it was foreign, so the keys were hard to duplicate. Now we don't have any issues since we don't need a key, it's opened manually. Check one problem off.

WILL BREAK ONCE WARRANTY IS UP

Wish I could put 0 stars. Received this as a gift when we moved into our home. The 3 year warranty expires and the lock breaks shortly thereafter. The touchpad will not work after replacing batteries and trouble shooting. Filed a warranty claim and was denied based on the manufacturer date being just over 3 years old. Would not recommend.

Works well for a while

It worked well for a while but then something happened where the internal mechanism to engage the deadbolt stopped working. So now after you correctly enter the code on the keypad, the internal mechanism to engage the deadbolt so you can rotate to unlock it doesn't work. You can hear it trying to work, but it still doesn't engage. Tried to replace the 9V battery with no luck.

This lock was super-easy to install, and we did it in probably about 30 minutes (including dismantling the old lock/deadbolt and reprogramming for new codes). We like that there isn't a key for the deadbolt so it can't be picked. This particular lock also seemed smaller than some of the others that we investigated, which we liked because it doesn't take up so much space on the door.

Poor quality control

I had this model of Schlage touch on my home for 7 years when it began to fail. The mechanism relies on a couple of cheap springs to allow the bolt to engage. Despite this I decided to purchase a replacement lock to keep things simple with the install. During the install, I attempted to bolt the front and rear of the lock to my door only to find out that the bolt holes were not tapped deep enough making it impossible to complete the installation. I returned the unit and went with another brand.

I have two of these and both stopped locking within 2 years!

I have two exterior doors with this same lock on both. After about a year and a half of use one lock started to malfunction and not engage when trying to unlock. The locking function still worked fine. Within a month the second lock started doing the same

Multiple failures

We installed two of these locks on the house. Within a year they both failed. The bolt would not turn. We had to leave a door unlocked because without a key backup, it was possible that we wouldn’t be able to get into the house. Schlage replaced them. We only installed one and put a keypad with key back up on the other door. Glad we did because after about a year the Schlage failed again.

Good choice for electronic lock

This is a good well made lock for those people who want electronic but not wi-fi based locks. I have had two of these for a year now and they still function as new. We just added two more to complete all outside doors. They are easy to program with your own code. Don't forget to remove the factory codes and to file away the programing code in case you need to reprogram in the future. I like that you can add a code for a repair person or temporary visitor and easily delete it when they leave.

Cold Weather Issues

I installed my keyless BE357 during the summertime and loved it. Never had an issue. Now some cold weather rolled in and the keypad won’t work at all. Replaced batteries, still not working. Let it reach room temp, and it works again. Reinstalled it at room temp, was working. Shut door and tested it an hour later (it resides behind a storm door, so no direct wind or elements hitting it). Got below freezing and it stopped working. I’ve chatted with others with similar issues. It’s hit or miss with cold weather.

Don't buy in cold climates

This lock is not a winter rated lock. If you live in any climate similar to Saskatoon, SK. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY. I am in the process of submitting my 4th claim in 4 years. They basically keep sending me the exact same lock. I would give their warranty program 4.5 stars, but this lock isn't worth the cardboard box it comes in.

Lasted 6 years

Lasted 6 years then suddenly stopped working. When trying a new battery a green LED light would blink once and the unit would beep but nothing worked. When connecting the battery while it was in the locked position the door could be locked/unlocked from the outside without using the keypad. Glad it lasted 6 years but unfortunately they only give a 3-year warranty on the electronics. $209 to replace the defective unit.

I like this product, especially because it doesn't have a key, those can be punched. This is beatable, but someone would have to be seriously in the game to beat it, that is why 4 stars not 5. There are harder locks to beat, but at a much higher price. But, I have a hard to beat bottom lock, so between the two I figured I have decent protection. The price is right on this.

I’ve had this lock for about 2 months and I’m very pleased with it! I got this particular lock because you have to manually turn the deadbolt, unlike others that are automated. I have an older home and the door doesn’t always line up perfectly during various times of the year, so this was a must for me. It locks beautifully, and looks sleek and modern. I also love that the keypad is flush, the numbers aren’t buttons. The lock/unlock has worked seamlessly, and overall I’m really happy with it. Installation gets 4 stars. Wasn’t the worst thing I’ve had to install, but the instructions weren’t the most thorough. Had to restart twice due to missed steps that weren’t spelled out, but it was generally intuitive and it probably took me a little over an hour to install both this lock and a matching handle. Programming codes is pretty easy as well.

I bought this keyless door lock after my previous ones had all failed. The issues with the fully motorized deadbolts is they require perfect alignment of the door and door frame with minimal interference. My doors have heavy weather stripping and the deadbolt is very tight in the door frame. The motorized versions had two issues. The first was battery drainage and the second was binding and getting locked out. This design solves my problems, the deadbolt is manual actuated. The keyless pad just locks the outside actuator so you can manually move the deadbolt. This works well for my situation and the battery life is great. Plus if the battery ever dies and you are locked out, you can place a 9v battery onto the terminal outside and still get the keypad to work. Installation took 5 minutes. Programming it the first time requires reading the instructions and another 5 minutes.

It stopped working after less than 4 months of use. Very disappointing since up until that point we were recommending it to everyone: it's easy to install, simple to use, completely keyless (which makes getting in and out of the house so much quicker), and since we're weirdos we love that it can't be controlled by an app that could fall out of use in the future.

I've been know to be old-school but since getting a new car that didn't need a key to be inserted and just have the fob in your pocket I wanted to step up my house's game. I should have installed these key-less house locks long ago. I always forget something in the house when I'm leaving and have to run back in. So that used to entail shutting off my car, taking the keys so I could unlock my house. Shoot, not anymore. I just leave my car running, walk back to the house and hit my code, no need to shut down the car, dig for keys, etc. Heck, I don't have a key ring anymore just my car's key fob.

So good I purchased two. This is the best design. The code engages the lock, but you do the work to turn the deadbolt with the knob. This is much better design because other systems use the battery to unlock and lock the bolt without your help. If your door or lock as any pressure on the deadbolt itself, the battery is usually too weak or will be too weak very soon. Those types make you wiggle the door while the bolt is moving to remove pressure, or it will fail to unlock or lock.

Easy to Install, Works Amazing

Perhaps the easiest install you will ever have. If you follow the step by step sheet you will have this installed in less than 5 mins. You just need a tape measure and screwdriver (multi-head). The lock is built solid and is a huge upgrade to builder grade. In fact the actual build of the lock seems better than the Weiser smart locks I have installed elsewhere. You can add and remove codes, so great for a rental or Airbnb. Although this is not wifi enabled, its nice knowing that there's no way the lock get be hacked remotely. The lock is not motorized so the code entered enables the lock to open. To lock it from the exterior is a simple tap of the Schlage logo and turn the lever.
