A must have for travelers

Bought my first Sensi 4 years ago for my S.Carolina home and was very pleased with it. I recently purchased a small home in Western New York and immediately installed a Sensi thermostat purchased from the utility with a $100 instant rebate.which was great because I was willing to pay full price for this thermostat. Both smart thermostats can be monitored from the same app on my phone or tablet. Totally worth the cost, easy to install, easy to operate from the app. I have some peace of mind when away from home that my house is heating or cooling. It also notifies me via email if there is high humidity or temperature deviation which may indicate furnace or ac malfunction. I can control my heat or ac from anywhere in the world. This is a must have for frequent travelers. Check your local utility to see if any rebates are offered!

Love These Thermostats

I converted my home in Spring, TX to three ST55 Sensi Smart Thermostats and love the ability to control them via WiFi from anywhere in the world. I purchased a 2nd home in AZ and upgraded the two existing programable thermostats to the ST55's for the same reason plus added schedules for when were were at home vs away and peak power schedules to save money. We sold our TX home and recently purchased six thermostats for our new home in TN. We knew the home had three heating/coolig units so ordered from Walmart for a $99/thermostat deal so they could be installed on closing day. During our walk through we found three other thermostats and scrambled with Home Depot and a local hardware store to purchase three more so that they could be installed at the same time and programmed by a professional. Love the ability to control them remotely and check energy usage.

Set and Forget

I really like not having to go to the other side of the house to change the temperature on the thermostat. The app allows you to set your A/C and your Heat separately and it also allows you to do a setting called Auto, where it shuts off the A/C and turns on the heat for spring and fall temps. I especially like that. You can program as many different times as you need in a 24hr period to adjust the cool/heat and you can bump it up or down on the app very easily if you need to. Plus there are two different premade settings for weekday only and weekend only. I'm very pleased with this product so far. We just set it and forget it.

Perfect device, easy install

Moved into a home with no digital thermostat. It had a mind of it's own too! I needed one that would cover the hole left from the old one. I'd used a Google thermostat before, but in the summer they can take control of the device and set it where they think it should be. I did NOT want that again. This Emerson digital thermostat is so easy to use. I can control everything with my phone. The panel has an intelligent layout and is easy to see and use. You can't go wrong with choosing this device!

Awesome upgrade

I purchased this smart device from my service provider. I knew nothing about it, just that I needed an upgrade. My old device was the original install with the house from yearsssss ago. We are current and upgraded. I love this smart thermostat. It is easy to use and I can even operate from my iPad and/or cellphone; quick response time from device to unit. The color fits in with the color schemes of both rooms. The device isn’t too bulky. Easy to follow instructions following setup. I highly recommend the Sensi Smart Thermostat.

Nominee for "Worst Thermostat Ever"

I just purchased this thermostat two days ago, and installing it has undoubtedly been one of the worst experiences ever in my life. The physical installation is pretty simple via the app, but the WiFi radio never started broadcasting after pressing Menu and then Mode, so the thermostat couldn't connect to my home WiFi network.

Easy to Set Up & Install

We were buying a new furnace and air conditioning and I started looking for a new thermostat. Almost all the “Smart” ones required special wiring. I spoke to my daughter who investigated about 7 different thermostats and decided on this one as it seemed to be the most user friendly. I trusted her judgement as she really looks into everything. My furnace installer was shocked how seamlessly this installed. He said they have done a lot of Nest ones and they are a nightmare. I love the app. Extremely simple to set and easily to check. The price was under $100 and I qualified for a $75 rebate. Total win. Definitely changing the thermostat on the main floor furnace next year when we have to install a new one. We are very happy with our Sensi.

Great product, easy installation.

This thermostat works perfectly, but the best part is the Alexa control. I just say what I want to do and the settings are changed instantly. During this time of year it's cool at night and hot during the day. I can set a schedule or just change temps on the fly even from in bed. One time I went to an appointment and forgot to turn the air on. I went on the app and turned it on and when I got home the house was perfect. The last thing I have to say I was impressed with is the installation instructions built in to the app. It asks you questions about your system. Has you take pictures of your old set up in case you need to refer back to it and then guides you step by step through the wire configuration and install. I'm no professional, but thanks to this innovative app I felt like one. Just Great!

Still Learning

I got my new Sensi after having trouble with my older kind. My furnace would just quit running or not come on - I’d fiddle around with it and give up and it would eventually start again. Had the furnace checked but it did not have anything wrong that would make it quit running or not work at all. My electric company sent out information about the new smart thermostats and the wonderful deal they had for their customers. I decided to jump on it and ordered the Sensi. So happy I did! My daughter and wife came over and had it installed in minutes and off I went knowing I did the right thing. Didn’t think I would be able to operate it for quite a while. After installing the app to my phone everything else was simple snd I absolutely love it - instead if having to get up and go to the thermostat to make adjustments or check on the indoor temperature I just pick up my phone and everything I need is there and I can change the temperature setting on the thermostat from my phone. Seniors use to say the younger generations were just lazy but you know what? I’m joining them!

Do not buy it for its wifi capabilities

We have had a pair of Sensi Smart Thermostats for about a year or so. They never reliably held a wifi signal. We recently signed up for programs where we receive a rebate on our gas and electric bills if we allow the utilities control during high usage periods. To up our game to make sure we had a better wifi signal in our house, we also installed a wifi mesh network. It works great, but the Sensis are totally oblivious to the wifi, sometimes seeing the signal, most times not. Many other wifi equipped items in our house farther from the wifi antennas keep a strong signal, not the Sensis. Look elsewhere if wifi connectivity is important to you. (We otherwise love the units and when they are on line, it is neat to turn the heat back on from a vacation when you are a couple hours out so the house is seasonally cool/warm on arrival.)

Fabulous product

This product is outstanding from beginning to end. The company and the design make everything easy. Checking for compatibility with your current system is straightforward. Installation instruction are step by step and easy to follow. Using the Sensi is intuitive and very easy. It does everything I want it to do. When we travel in the wintertime we turn our temp down to 45 or 50 and then have to come home to a cold house. Not anymore! With Sensi I can turn up the heat several hours before our arrival and return to a warm house. We love it!

Simple but very effective wifi thermostat

Bought this for a part time residence that we are routiniely away from for longer periods during winter and potential power outages. This was recommended by our mechanical service person who said we could likely install ourselves and could purchase multiple places. The unit was available from Consumers Energy with a rebate and a very reasonable net cost of $39, installation took 5 minutes (or less). While it might be nice to be able to custom set temperature alert points, which it can't, the automatic alert set points are adequate to let us know if there is a problem and it is extremely easy to check the status in less than 1 minute by opening the app wherever you may be with your mobile phone. It is almost identical to the Emerson stat we previously had, except for the wifi and app accessibility so absolutely seemless transition. We've already benefited from pre-heating the house using the app to raise the set temperature before we left our main house for the 1 hour drive and a winter visit....no more keeping the winter coat on for the first 45 minutes after arrival!

Cant be beat!

This is Sensi Thermostat #7 & #8 for me. I can monitor and control each individually from anywhere in the world all on the same App. I get high humidity alerts in the south if the kids leave a door open or the A/C is off or out. In Montana, I just got an alert it was suspected my system wasnt heating in 20 below zero outdoor temperatures. Turns out my high efficiency furnace was rebreathing the exhaust causing frost to build up and plug my combustion air intake causing the furnace to eventually not fire. That alert just saved all my plumbing and diagnosed a problem with my venting. For those giving bad reviews, you didnt get it installed right. These are great - keep up the good work!

The best of traditional functionality & WiFi acces

We purchased two of these through a special offer from our utility. For the same (very) discounted price, we could have purchased these, or another well-known brand. I had previously replaced the old manual dial thermostats with traditional Honeywell digital thermostats years ago and programmed them, but had to change the time setting twice a year, and if the battery died, the programming needed to be redone. Not having previously heard of Sense, I did a little research for valid reviews and these came back generally rated higher than the other brand. What sold me on these, though, was that they look and can be operated just like the traditional digital thermostats (which makes my wife happy), but through the app, we can control the thermostats right from our phone, whether in the house or away. so now, if we head out for a good part of the day, I can easily turn down the heat throughout the house as we walk out the door, and on the drive home, turn it back up so we return to a warm house. I'm assuming the same will be true with the AC come summer time. How much we'll save in energy costs, I don't know yet, but living in a high-cost state like NY, I suspect I will get my money back in just one heating season... and then some.

Love this smart thermostat. I saw it on the Home Depot website, but it was in stock at my local store and I wanted it that day. It’s cold and I can turn the heater on without even getting out of bed! Works perfectly and installed in minutes. The app makes it so easy for remote operation. Turn it on, off or schedule it from anywhere. The app also allows for customization of your system to meet your personal needs.

I am a licensed HVAC professional, working in the field for approximately 20 years. For a standard heating and air system, this thermostat is fine. But for a heat pump system, I don’t recommend it. This thermostat consistently uses auxiliary heating when it’s not necessary. Then, when the call for heat is removed, and then later reapplied, it continues to use aux heat instead of activating the heat pump first. The only way to fix it is to remove power from the stat for a few minutes. Software flaw? I don’t know. But I went back to the PRO1 thermostat I usually use to solve the problem.

Almost all Functions Available on Thermostat

I had lots of problems initially setting up WiFi access for my home network. I was using my iPhone and it just got to one point in the process and the button to proceed was grayed out. I called support (waited on hold 15 to 20 minutes). After connected I spent 35 minutes with a person that seemed to know what they were talking about. BUT, they were unable to complete the process on my iPhone either. Then the person I was talking to talked me thru the same process on an older iPad that I owned and it worked on the first try! Everytime you get a new Router or ISP, you have to repeat this process

Couldn't be happier! Great app and thermostat.

Recently, a friend had recommended I install a wifi thermostat in my home. I purchased this one through my energy providers online store. As I was in the market for a new one, this thermostat was a no-brainer for me. Couldn't be happier with my choice. As for installation, I am a DIY kinda guy and had no trouble at all with this install. Before receiving the tstat, I had installed the app on my phone and went through a mock setup. Once you're ready to put the tstat on the wall, the app will guide you through the entire installation. For me it was like.....15 minutes tops and it's on the wall, paired with wifi, and I'm running with the app. I wanted a base plate on the wall. They were out of stock on the plate for this model, so I took a chance and purchased the one for the touch model. It worked fine. I just had to lightly file two small beads on the plate to allow the tstat a flush mount against the plate. I like the look. It's optional, you don't have to have it. As for functionality, I love it!!! The wifi and the app make all the difference. I've had programmable tstats. To me, they are clumsy at best. With this setup, from ANYWHERE, I can see my current system status, add or alter current or upcoming system schedule, check daily usage, and all kinds of other good stuff. What I now have here is a boy toy, some would say, but if used properly will save you energy, wear and tear on your hvac equipment, MONEY, and provide you a greater level of comfort and confidence in your home. Last week, my wife and I joined friends out for dinner. Before leaving I noted the tstat was at 71 degrees, as it was set to be. We were going to be gone for several hours. Using the app, cause it's more fun then using the tstat, I set the heating temp to be 67 degrees. I asked our cat if he was ok with that and he was fine. For him, it was better than being outside, which was 20 something degrees. As it turns out, and I know this by monitoring the app, our indoor temperature never got below 69 degrees while we were gone, and our heating system did not have to kick on. Then, at the right time, before heading home, I took the schedule out of hold, calling then for the preset 71 degrees. I watched the app respond, the phone screen turns orangish when heating, and knew our home would be toasty warm when we got home. Which it was thank you very much. We were away from home for nearly 4 hours. I had eliminated 2 maybe 3 heating cycles. You do the math. Yes, you have choices. There are a lot of wifi thermostats on market today. I made a good choice. To say it again, Thank you Ameren, my energy provider, and Emerson Sensi, for a great product and app.

[Rewarded Review] Versatile, Smart Thermostat

The Sensi WiFi thermostat is very good, combing ease of installation, system versatility and compatibility, and smarts into a package that fills a very needed gap in the market of smart thermostats.
