These chairs are fantastic! I would give them 5 stars. I reduced my rating by 2 stars not because of the product but bc HD uses FedEx to ship them to you and FedEx service is horrible! 3 of the 6 boxes were “lost” on the way to my house. 1 finally arrived and 2 never were found. After a week of waiting. HD canceled the order and sent new ones. FedEx shipping is the worst. Don’t have these chairs shipped to your home. It’s not worth the hassle. But the chairs are very nice.

"Unifinished"

Overall the chair would be great EXCEPT. It seems to have some type of varnish or finish that keeps it from taking stain to the right color. We have a dark walnut we have used on lots of true unfinished wood. The color is very dark. On this we could not get it to go any darker than a light pecan. That is unless we spent time sanding it. Very disappointed.

Good design and pretty comfortable chairs. We bought them to go with a wood dining table I made for a screened and covered back porch. Overall, the chairs are a great value. The negatives I would mention are: 1) the wood is smooth, but has a grain that takes stain unevenly. A painted finish would look better. 2) there is quite a bit of glue bleed-over at the joints glued at the chair factory. These areas require sanding if applying stain.

Okay so, these chair are nice solid wood and a decent price, BUTTT they are SO UNCOMFORTABLE!!! The backs are not straight they swing back! Who wants to eat dinner with their back tilted back like they are in a reclining chair?!! I spend so much time finishing them and they look nice but why in the world is the back not more straight???! Unless you are very overweight and have a lot of back fat when you sit in this chair you will have to be leaning back if you want to have your back supported. We have to sit on them like it’s a bench and have no back support in order to be sitting up straight like normal people do when they are eating dinner. I so regret buying these, we rarely buy new furniture so I’m bummed that I hate these chairs because I’m too cheap to buy new ones, everyone is just going to have to be uncomfortable.

Disappointing

Chairs are made with a nice hardwood material... however the holes are drilled too big for a good fit. Holes for the bolts are almost twice the bolt size and holes for the brace rods are also oversized. Also I ordered and was charged for 2 sets of 2 and only one set of two was shipped even though I was charged for both sets, it’s been three weeks and an email from Home Depot gave a ship by 12/14 date I still don’t have the other chairs. So between the very poor fitting and terrible shipping I do not recommend this product.

As other reviewers have said, the screws to attach the side stretchers to the front legs are too long. They’ll poke through the legs if you aren’t careful. I used wood glue when assembling for added stability, but the chairs still feel kinda dainty. I had originally planned on staining these chairs but the wood grain is very unattractive. Ended up painting them instead. The chairs will work and I was able to make them look decent, but I wouldn’t buy again.

Excellent style and quality, especially for the price. Came well-packaged and secure, zero damage. Easy to assemble, parts fit together flawlessly. I used a medium tone Minwax stain, and the wood accepted the stain well, and evenly. Out of four chairs, only had one small spot where wood filler was apparently used, and it took the stain slightly differently. I'd read all the reviews before purchasing, so followed instructions and assembled with leg bolts just over finger-tight, then went around chair 3-4 times gradually working up to fully tightening. I was wary of the multiple reports of screws "coming through the front of the leg" when attaching the side stringers, so was very careful. But as others have said, I don't know how this is even possible unless you don't have the stringer properly situated in the leg - the pilot hole needs to be facing straight down, and there will be no issues. Can't speak to the durability of the chairs since they haven't been used but a few days, but I don't foresee any issues - they are very well made and sturdy. Certainly a decent knock-off alternative to the look-alike Pottery Barn "Aaron" chair that's about 4X the price! Plus, you can paint or stain to your liking - I needed to coordinate chairs with an existing sideboard so pre-finished chairs were not a viable option for me. Highly recommend, very pleased!

All of the chairs by International Concepts are a great product. Especially for the price. We've order about 600-700 of them and only had about 4-5 faulty chairs. We've had one where a hole wasn't drilled where the support needed to be screwed into place. We've had several that had a crack in various places. One in the seat top. Most in the legs. Outside of the few faulty chairs, (Less than .5%) you couldn't ask for a better product. We've also only had one returned out of 600-700 and that was because their child was playing on the back of the chair and snapped it.

I bought these for my dining room and was skeptical that these chairs would match the quality of my Pottery Barn kitchen chairs. I was pleasantly surprised - they are sturdy, not too bad to assemble and look really nice. If I didn't know better I'd think they were the PB Aaron dining chairs. Read the assembly directions very carefully and DO NOT tighten everything until it's all loosely assembled.

Great value

I never write reviews, but was in the fence with this purchase based on one reviewer with a 1star, "don't buy" comment and felt compelled to set the record straight. These are really nice chairs. I just had a custom table built and the cost of American hardwood chairs made by skilled craftsmen is close to $300 apiece, so I started looking for alternatives, these chairs fit my needs. I purchased 8 of them, they were delivered sooner than expected, none were damaged.

DO NOT BUY

We will be returning these. Several of the pre-drilled screw holes for attaching the leg braces are pre-drilled at an incorrect angle, causing the screws to punch completely through the leg of the chair. I had the same problem with each chair. We bought four chairs and they are all ruined. You get what you pay for!! We'll go to Pottery Barn and buy pre-assembled and finished chairs so I don't have to waster another two hours assembling these. It's unfortunate because the design is awesome, they are a great price and shipping was fast. But, not worth the headache!
