The chairs are heavy and good quality but a leg...

The chairs are heavy and good quality but a leg on one of the chairs seems to be a little short. I moved the chair to the other 3 places and had the same issue.

We are really delighted with these chairs. They are exactly what I was looking for and 1/2 to 1/3 of the price of buying similar chairs from the craftsmen we found on the Internet. My husband put them together while I was out of town and didn't mention any difficulty, and he has no patience, so it must have been a breeze. Best of all, they are beautiful and incredibly sturdy. The official weight capacity says 250 lbs. but I think that is everyone's default for weight capacity of a chair if they don't have heavier people around to test them. We do and I am confident these will hold up. They are very solid and will hold as much as any other dining chair. One note on the finish: The seat is not the same black as the rest of the chairs; it has a grayish or distressed tint to it. Not really noticeable but we did find it a little odd. (The photo shows six chairs around a 72 inch long table. We decided we can put three of these chairs on one side, and seat eight total in a pinch, but we only bought 6 since keeping 8 chairs around would take up too much room in a relatively small space).

Very heavy, sturdy chairs. I ordered 10 chairs and 2 have a slight difference in leg length or how the seat fits so the chair wobbles. Definitely need felt pads attached to the bottom of the legs, lessens/eliminates the wobble. Nice color, will be buying chair pads for comfort. Easy to assemble

Need clearer instructions

The chair is very nice but a little difficult to put together. Clearer instructions would’ve helped & there are no holes in the seat bottom to guide the screws. All of my other furniture from Target has been real easy to put together. The chair looks good & matches the ones I purchased years ago.

built well

Built very well and went together fast. I did put some wood glue on the tendons before I slid them into place and screwed them (these are the braces between the legs). Gluing should give these chairs extra strength. Be sure you wipe with a wet rag afterward if you use glue.

Nice as-is, great potential

If you're a handy person, and motivated to finish chairs yourself, these are great. Shop around - these can be purchased for roughly sixty dollars per chair. The build quality is equal to or better than finished chairs costing much more. If you're detail oriented, the edge dressing may trigger your o.c.d., it's not "finished" when you open the box. Plan to sand and plan to fill. This wood is quite different than traditional U.S. hardwoods. It has a somewhat stringy characteristic similar to machining poplar. It took stain nicely, the grain raised considerably. The end result is a smooth and even finish after additional wood finishing steps. The assembly/hardware seems quite durable. Far better than average bolt-together furniture. Overall, the product is better than what it costs. You have the option to finish them to meet your standards.

Generally Nice Chairs, But Check Parts Thoroughly Before You Begin Refinishing

These are really solid chairs, and I rated them 4 stars due to the general quality. The parts are nicely machined and sanded, and the wood has few blemishes. These chairs are really solid and will stand up to a household of teenage boys. That being written, my set of two disassembled chairs contained a frustrating manufacturing error. One chair was fine, but in the second chair the lateral cross-pieces intended to connect/brace the chair legs had screw holes (near the end of each cross-piece, and through which you insert screws to fasten the cross-piece to the chair leg) drilled out backwards so you had to mount them with the screw hole facing up, (i.e. showing), not facing down (and hidden beneath the chai)r. You can't flip the lateral cross-pieces over, because their end dowels (which connect the cross-pieces to each chair leg) are angled a certain way. Don't want to use wood putty to fill in and hide the upward-facing screw holes, because you need access to occasionally tighten the screws if they loosen. So the screw holes show. Also one lateral cross-piece didn't even have a routed out hole in which to insert the end-dowel of the central cross-piece to connect it. Don't have a router but solved that by shaping out a suitable dowel-hole using a drill bit. I didn't figure out the error until I had already spent hours sanding, staining and finishing the pieces and was assembling the chair, a bit late to be boxing up and shipping the whole thing back to the manufacturer, so the warning is to check the parts first before you begin any work on them.
