Solid and Attractive Bookcase

I like the design and the quality with the exception of the back panel that started to fray a bit but fortunately you can't see it. It was a bit complicated to assemble because the pieces were not labeled to match the instructions in the diagram so you have to take time to think about it and match the shapes to the instructions.

I love it! Was hard to find a nice bookcase narrow enough to fit the small space where I was wanting to put one, and this fit the requirements perfectly. All in all, the top, bottom, and shelving pieces are solid and very durable. The large backing piece, however, arrived a bit bowed, and took more effort than it should have to align it into the groves on the bottom piece for final assembly. Other than my struggle with this bowed back piece, assembly was simple, and I am thoroughly enjoying the bookcase!

Decent looking but hard to put together and could use improvements

As other reviewers have mentioned, these shelves have pros and cons. I have similar feedback. Pros: Solid hardwood shelves, well wrapped, arrived quickly. Look pretty nice once you have them together. Cons: thin plywood backing was challenging to get in the grooves. You need to make sure that you dont block the grooves that the plywood backing slides into when putting together the shelves. Its easy not realize that's happening. There were missing lock screws, we just put the shelf together without some of them. The holes on the sides used for adjustment of shelf height should be all the way up each side so you can adjust for larger books on the bottom shelf. Or at least put holes in the very middle, so you could have the option of using just one shelf instead of two. The fact that they didn't do this is super frustrating. Also, when attaching the plywood to the back of shelving, we had to use a drill to create starter holes at the top. Basically know in advance that a drill is ideal for this project. Assembly tip: start with bottom shelf and sides first, make sure everything aligns well for the plywood backing to fit in the grooves.

Very solid

We were most impressed with how solid this bookcase is. When it said it was solid wood, they weren’t kidding. It looks great, holds lots of books and is a real piece of furniture. We chose not to attach it to the wall and it sits very solidly on the carpet. Great purchase and well worth the $ !

Made from actual wood!!!

I never do "first impression" reviews, I want to know how stuff holds up over time, but right out of the box this is in a class of its own compared to similar priced Wal-Mart / IKEA / whatever.

Nice quality wood (rubber wood from Asia) and good quality paint finish. Assembly was a bit confusing and some of the holes that should have been pre-drilled were absent. Assembly would have been easier if the parts were labeled A, B, C, D, etc. to correspond with the assembly directions.
