Problematic and Temporary
I have been buying the Floormate since the early 2000s - first time off an infomercial before they had the spinning brushes. I've probably purchased at least 15 of these machines since. They don't last. And it seems with each new model, they are less reliable. I bought 2 of these machines. They both broke within a couple months of using them (I always empty all the water out after use and wipe it down, so it's not me, it's the machine. I also don't use any cleaner but the Floormate brand). It took time, but I got my replacements. Both of those quit working within a month or two of using them. They replaced them again (props for replacing, but it's a pain bc we don't have use for weeks at a time). In the meantime, I bought another floormate and used it for a few months until it broke. The last 2 replacements they sent did not last longer than a few months of occasional (2-3 weeks between uses). All of these last mops (since purchase in 2022) leak water from the clean water tank. It just pours out. We have done everything they told us (including pumping the trigger 20 times before use, which seems absurd). We opened the last replacement box in July 2024 and today it poured water everywhere (and it hadn't been sucking up dirty water very well the last few times we used it). Perfectly useless after *maybe* using it 6-8 times. I should at LEAST be getting a year or two of weekly use out of one of these floormates. They work great when you first get them (which is why I've kept buying), but they are not made to last and the quality is only getting worse, not better.
I've had 3 of these since 2006. Unfortunately Hoover tells you it can vacuum dirt and mop. if you use it to pick up dirt and wet mop the dirt, debris will stick in parts and there goes your Hoover floormate. i use and actual vacuum cleaner to pickup dirt/debris, then use Floormate for actual mopping. Great piece of equipment. my homes are tile, or hardwood and over 3000 s/f, so this is to die for.
I have bought this product multiple times for commercial use
I clean vinyl and linoleum floors in a small office building primarily bathroom and lobby areas, some outdoor tiled areas as well. The hardfloor cleaner lasts 9 months to 2.5 years but it's small enough to fit between bath fixtures vs a bigger commercial machine. The owner prefers I use it rather than mop and bucket. It puts clean water on and removes dirty water off. For the price it's worth it to keep employer happy.
Best purchase I've made for myself in a while
I did a ton of research on comparable floor washing machines, and I'll tell you what friends, I have no regrets about treating myself to a Floormate!
Very poor quality
I first purchased this floor cleaner in 2011 and loved it for several years. I purchased my 2nd one in June 2023 and had to return it due to parts not lining up when putting it together. I immediately replaced it with another which I used for less than a year. The cleaner tank was extremely difficult to get in place and it pooled water very fast. I purchased another 2 weeks ago and the cleaner tank empties in a pool in 5 minutes. Never buying another Hoover. The quality has tanked.
Save your money!!!!
I had a much older version of the floormate that was amazing at scrubbing my tile floors. When it finally died on me I decided to buy a new one. That was a horrible decision. Not only did the dirty water constantly leak out it didn't scrub anywhere near as good as my old one. Then after owning it for only 6 months the motor locked up and it wouldn't even turn on.
Wouldn't but this product again
My mom recommended this hard floor cleaner because she loves hers. Bought it and clean water leaks all over the floor right after putting the housing in, it leaks without even squeezing the trigger and leaks water on the dry setting. It leaks so much water I have to fill the housing three times to clean my kitchen and I dont have that big of kitchen. Was super disappointed in it because my mom said it was great and loved it so much. Unless Im doing something wrong this sucks.
Not as happy as the last machine bought
I bought this machine to replace one that I've had for years. The brush drive was not working and the part was unavailable. I don't feel that the machine works as well as the previous one I own. It is not removing the water while scrubbing. Also it's difficult to place the water tank into the machine. I think it might be this particular machine.
I might consider buying this product again.
I owned one of these machines prior to buying my current one, hence the reason I bought again. It served me well for 5 or 6 years.
My favorite way to clean hard floors!
I have bought two for myself in 10+ years (and have raved enough to friends and 4 have bought one as well!) and I absolutely love it! I have 4 dogs and live on gravel so my OCD can easily get overwhelming. This machine scrubs very well (even has the 'clean boost' button) and the best part that saves me is it sucks all the dirty water away which settles my mind. Sometimes I will run a sponge mop around the edges of the floors because the machine can't get right to the edge (just like any vacuum can't, anywhere) and then run the machine to make the floor perfect! It's easy to take apart and clean and easy to store. If you don't empty the containers it will rot the rubber rings. If you don't rinse off the detachable parts it can stink. But both of those are regular maintenance tasks of almost anything we use to help our lives. The price is definitely worth it, it's around $1 a week if it lasts 2 years (my first lasted 6 years, second is almost 5 years) and that's a small price for what it does
Really clean floors
This product was recommended by a friend who let me try hers before I purchased one. She should get commission because she has had at least 5 people purchase this FloorMate and none have been dissappointed.
My floor cleaner crush!
My sister made a comment to me the other day that she thinks I have a crush on this floor cleaner. I laughed and said I just might! I absolutely love this floor cleaner; so much so that it's the 4th one I've purchased. Even though I love this cleaner, it doesn't stand up to the test of time, which is why I've purchased so many. I have a very busy household, 7 people, 2 dogs and 3 cats, so when it's raining, snowing or dusty my floor gets all of it plus all the pet hair, and we have mostly white tile.
Floormate is the best hands down
I keep my tile floor clean and use the Floormate frequently. I live in Florida and have a small dog so that means there is always sand on the floor. I love that this picks up the dirt and the sand too. This out performs a mop all the time. I would love that the screws on the dirty water tank didn't get rusty so fast. But I will always buy this machine over and over. I got my entire family hooked on it and we have never looked back or been disappointed in its performance. #sweepstakes
Excellent Cleaner for Hard Floors
We recently bought the Hoover Hard Floor Cleaner after moving into our new house. We had tile installed in the remaining rooms that weren't previously tiled. The Hard Floor cleaner did an amazing job at cleaning the tile floors, and removing dirt and dust. A regular mop would have just pushed the dust and dirt around. The Hoover sucked everything us so that only clean tile floors were left. The dirty water in the collection reservoir was pretty gross. Haven't tried this product on sealed hardwood yet but it does an amzing job on tile floors.
Disappointed
I've had the Floormate Spinscrub for10 years and loved it! But, it finally was time for a new floor cleaner. I considered others, but settled on another Hoover Floormate. I have to say that I am extremely disappointed. I feel like it doesn't suck all of the dirty water from the floors as well as my old one did. I've used it 3or 4 times now, and each time it's the same. Very frustrating. I may call ans see what my options are but it looks like Hoover requires any returns to be packaged and shipped at the customer's expense. What a huge hassle when the product isn't working as it should. Guess that's money lost and no more Hoover for me.
New model did not disappoint
#sweepstakes Bought this to replace my old floormate, which still works.
Does not clean well
Purchased this hoping to replace my steam mop. I've got ceramic tile floors tortured by three dogs. I followed all instructions and was very disappointed by the cleaning ability of this unit. Some spots that the cleaner didn't seem to touch were easily loosened by my fingers. It's almost as if the brushes aren't even touching the floor. The dirty water tank is definitely dirty, but if there's anything half way stuck on it doesn't seem to touch it. I also have a Hoover carpet cleaner that works amazing. Very different results than this product.
Great machine!
This is my 3rd machine over the last 10 years. I wore one out & my daughter took my second one. This is by far the best floor cleaning machine I've had. I've used it in hardwood, lineoleum, laminate & tile floors and nothing cleans like the Hoover FloorMate. I don't have to worry about handling dirty replacement pads nor do I need to wash them. Love that there's a separate tank for the dirty water instead. I don't need to worry about warping the wood floor with steam (because yes, that had happened with my steam cleaner). Have used this in hard to clean stains & haven't had any issues getting those off the floor. I'm a loyal fan!
*IT WILL DIE AFTER TWO-YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRES!*
If you are only reading the glowing reviews from those who've owned it for weeks or months, you are wasting your time. I only used mine about once every two or three months, in a small, 2,500 square foot house. I bought it in the summer of 2019. Last week I turned it on, it ran for two seconds, then the motor permanently died. What's particularly frustrating is that it worked really well on our UNSEALED, uneven tile floors. We were meticulous about cleaning it after every use, and not over-working it, and we don't own any pets. So infuriating that it wasn't built to last!
Hoover Floormate
This is my 4th floor mate, my last one the brush would not stay attached, This one I'm having a problem with the clear cover staying on. But all in all this is a good concept for cleaning and then rinsing the floor. I wash my floor and then suck up the water, then put clean water in the tank and re rinse the floor. I have 2 old doxie who pee, and this machine really helps with the clean up. I also use it on the rubber mats at my back door during the winter and rainy season. Until summer when I can take my mates outside for a go pressure washing. The company just needs to look at a better design for the brush and now the clear cover.
