Unnecessary and unusable product change

I have the old version of this wall-mount magnifying mirror with proximity sensor product that is battery powered. Being battery powered allowed me to place right where I need it. I very rarely need to charge it, and when I do, it’s very convenient. The sensor is not detecting when I’m done using it very well as the product has aged. I have to position it away from potentially reflective surfaces and turn off the room light to get it to shut off. This is why it bought a new one. It now comes in two versions - one that has a base to stand on the counter that is battery powered, and a wall mount version which now needs to be wired into the electrical system. There is no way I’m going to pay an electrician to run wiring. It’s not even possible in my case as I have it mounted to a cabinet where I need it. It’s a shame the changed away from the battery when most of the other similar mirrors use the convenience of being battery powered so it can be placed wherever you need it. You can also change it at any time. I’ll be looking for another company that still does things the right way. This is the second product (the other is a garbage can) where the sensor system has failed an otherwise usable product. I wish I could replace the sensors on both since they are perfectly fine otherwise. The sensors work perfectly fine on the other two garbage cans that I have had for just as long but rarely use.

Great Mirror, Great Light, Narrow Unsteady Base

I love Simplehuman products. The magnified mirror quality is topnotch. I've owned several over the years because I prefer the mounted style, and due to moving have repurchased them. My new home does not have a place for me to hardwire a mirror and Simplehuman no longer offers the mountable, rechargeable mirror. I purchased the counter-top version and love the mirror, light, and telescoping capability, however, the lightweight, narrow base is extremely disparate. The base needs to be wider and weighted so the mirror doesn't tip as easily.

Common sense vs Sensor Mirror

I knew I shouldn’t spend this much money on a mirror, but the QVC hosts made it sound like the perfect mirror. Ordered it anyway. It worked great except that it was too short (fully extended) on my standard height counter and I had to bend down to use it. I’m 5’2”. Placed mirror on an elevated display stand on the counter, raising it the extra 4” I needed. Problem solved! Recharged mirror several times over these past months and it kept on working perfectly. After last recharge cycle it apparently retired. I fully expected that a product warranted for 5 years would last longer than 11 months. Common sense is back: I will not purchase any more overpriced Simplehuman products.

Problems from day one!

I did not open box for several months after purchasing item. I was having a make up station built and purchased this mirror for my new make up vanity area. From day one I have had problems. This item has a mind of its own. Sometimes it will not even light up or turn on. The intensity of the light changes randomly I would not recommend this product !! The mirror would not turn on for about two weeks and I was about to toss it, this morning it came on again. Just randomly when I walked into make up room it lit up. So over it

Defective

Mirror arrived defective. Wouldn’t charge, light won’t activate. Customer service support is appalling. It came defective out of the box and I need to exchange it and they require all these hoops to jump through before issuing the exchange. Serial #, video of the mirror not working, upload receipt (despite that it was purchased directly from their site and they have record of the purchase). Why would I want a replacement of the exact same thing if the one I received was perfectly fine? Completely unnecessary steps.

It could be fabulous BUT...

I bought this mirror about 2 months ago. It looks great on my dressing table and the magnification is excellent. The problem is the operation of the lighting, which is over engineered for the sake of being clever rather than useful. A simple switch on the mirror with off, low light and high light settings would have been fantastic. Because of the fancy swoops to switch the light on, off and between light intensities, every time you raise your arm to put on your mascara, the setting changes and it hops about between the four settings every time you move. It drives me bonkers when I am trying to put on my make up, it changes all the time when I don't want it to. To me, it's a clear case of the manufacturer trying to be clever, without testing the concept in action. Had anyone from the design team used the product before signing off on the design, I am sure that this would have been ironed out, but as it it, it's frustratingly close to being a wonderful product, while being almost unusable.

Replacement for 5-year old model.

The old mirror just seemed to be charging too often and I had jerry-rigged an old brick and cable together to make it work, because at some point, the charger supplied quit working. Simple Human customer service was non-existent. Anyway, the Anniversary Sale price was nice and I hoped a nice new one would work out.

Disappointed

I received the mirror in rose gold & absolutely loved it. When it came time to recharge the mirror, that’s when I had problems. I tried resetting the mirror numerous times & even went online to see if there was something else I could do. I finally called QVC customer service & explained the issue & they said it sounded like it was defective. I was told to send it back & a new one would be sent out to me. I just now called customer service to check on the status, here they received the mirror but didn’t bother to send ne a replacement. Now there’s no more inventory. Really ticked off, the only thing they could do for me was a refund back to my card. Not happy at all!!!!

Beware If You Need To Speak To Simple Human!

I had my mirror less than 1 year and it decided to randomly stop lighting , then it would work again. Then it stopped agin and again and again and finally stopped charging all together. I finally got fed up but had to go through Simple Human to return it. It has a 5 year warranty and after they gave me a list of hoops to jump through before returning it I became frustrated emailing and texting when they then said they’d be glad to send me a “refurbished” one and instructed me how to return mine! What!!! Almost $200 with a so called a 5 yr warranty less than a year old barely used that has glitches?? Refurbished fir replacing it?? No thanks!

Loving My Mirror

I sit down to put on my makeup and was using a regular mirror. I’m almost 50 and it was becoming very frustrating using a regular mirror. I never would have considered purchasing a mirror this expensive but I saw some ladies on qvc Facebook pages raving about it so I decided to try it. I love it. My light works perfectly. When I sit down the mirror comes on; when I walk away the mirror goes off. I can see everything I apply. It makes putting on my Laura Geller palettes a breeze, especially the eye liner. This has been one of my best purchases and has made my life much easier. It’s definitely worth the money.

Hello, I was very excited to get this mirror, because I am one of the people that have the mirror standing on top of a shoebox, and it was constantly falling over. I love the 5X large mirror just for looking at my face, putting on skin care, and putting on make up. I think the smaller 10 X mirror is fantastic for putting on eye makeup since I wear glasses and I am able to make sure that it is blended on my eye without trying to recheck in a distorted hand mirror.
