Doesn't stand up to daily living

The chair's size is perfect for cuddling up with a cat, or a dog, or a grandchild. Two adults could reasonably sit together as well. The recliner mechanism works easily, and closing it up was easy once I got the hang of it. Assembly was easy although this is a huge piece of furniture to move to the spot you want it at. The problems I have are with the fabric (it's a magnet for pet hair and already we've had to cover it to keep the fuzz from getting embedded in it), and with the quality of construction of the arms. When I get into the chair and curl up with my feet on it, I lean on the arm to get into the right position. This has resulted in what sounds like plywood splintering (I'm not a huge person). Nothing is obvious from outside, and the fabric is not affected, but I can feel that I've effectively cracked the outer structure of the arm. This to me says "cheap." However, I'm going to keep it, use it well, and when the grands have grown up, it'll probably be time for a new chair anyway. EDIT: the cat made quick work of the arms of this chair--it's getting donated already because it looks shabby. Next chair will be tested in person and the cat will not be allowed to use it as a clawing post.

Esbjorn - 46.5'' Wide Oversized Big Man Recliner Gray Fabric

Extremely easy to assemble, just slide the back rest into place and it's done, literally secondsRecliner footrest is definitely hard to put back into place. Not a deal breaker but annoying enough that it turns the process of reclining into ordeal...On the plus side, it reclines in two parts, so you can use the footrest with only a few inches between the sofa and a wall. To fully recline horizontally you'd need more space, at least a foot or two.The material is excellent, microfiber "leather", which means it looks like leather from a far, but feels like soft microfiber cloth (and doesn't get as hot)Much better than the fake leather most of these come with, but don't expect it to feel like a normal leather chair either. The box is too heavy for one person to lift, but can be slid into place, keep that in mind when you order it (have it dropped off near where you want it if you don't have help)Long term is still in question. This is cheap on the scale of recliners, I'm using it as an everyday chair and hoping it lasts a couple of years max.I don't see it standing up to any sort of abuse like jumping into it, but it's also cheap enough that shouldn't have. I suspect if you treat it carefully it will last long enough-Update: Figured out why some reviews say the recliner is fine and some say it's too hard!On hardwood and low carpet the sofa frame will shift *just* enough to keep the recliner from going in. The legs of the sofa are a very slippery plastic!Use some furniture grip pads and it'll be perfect. Immediately after attaching them the recliner became so easy to use

It's extremely easy to put together. You literally slide the back onto the base and you're good to go. As you recline, it slides forward slightly so you don't need much space between the chair and the wall, which is nice. I got it in blue and it matches the Amias Modern Chaise Sectional Sofa Set by Christopher Knight Home perfectly which is great. But that's where the good ends (for me). It's not as firm as the sofa, and I initially liked that it was softer. However, the stuffing on the back cushion (where I sit) is essentially flat in the lumbar area after only about a month and a half. I can feel hard supports right through what is left of the cushion. The bottom cushion is still relatively comfortable - not great, but it hasn't gone flat. Also, the foot rest has virtually no padding which makes having my feet up less comfortable than I anticipated. Especially since the foot rest is at a slight angle and that makes the hard top edge press against my calf. I'm only 5'3", so perhaps it would be different for someone taller. Additionally, the footrest is difficult to close if there's only one person. I have to sit in the middle of the chair, put a foot on either edge, hang onto the arm rests and really slam it shut (several times) in order for it to catch. And speaking of the arm rests, they're essentially not padded (you don't want to lean against them for any length of time) which I kind of figured based on the pictures. So that one is on me. LOL It's slightly tippy and has already started to make creaking noises so I don't anticipate it will last any length of time. It looks nice and is comfortable initially, but it's definitely not meant for every day use. Side note: when you select blue, the picture says Navy Blue and so does the box it comes in. It is NOT a true navy. There's a lot of green in it. It's more of a dark teal, which I happen to like. But if you're looking for navy, look elsewhere.

Esbjorn - 46.5'' Wide Oversized Big Man Recliner Gray Fabric

I saw a lot of reviews saying that putting the foot rest back into a down/locked position was very difficult. Maybe the manufacturer changed the product, maybe I got lucky, maybe I am stronger than all the others (not very likely) but for me this is a very comfortable chair and with ease I can put the foot rest down and lock it; no issues.I also saw comments saying the foot rest needed more padding, well, maybe. If I lay my ankles/feet on the rest it is fine, if I set my feet against the edge of the rest then not so great, but hey, the intention is to lay your feet on it not push against it.The cats love it too! I may never be able to put the rest down as they now see that as their place to sit.Fabric is easy to clean (cat hair can be an issue) and it makes my living room seem a lot larger (I removed the full sized couch and put this in, only need room for me and the cats). The back on this is high and I wanted that to help support my neck. After all day looking at a computer monitor at work I wanted a high backed chair to rest in and this works great.Very pleased.

Esbjorn - 46.5'' Wide Oversized Big Man Recliner Brown Faux Leather

I work on my laptop sitting (due to shoulder problems) and needed a couch that fits me in an upright position without sinking in and has a bit of extra space for a cat or two next to me. This is the best choice for my requirements so far, the cushions are firm (and I am no lightweight), the back is only slightly tilted when extending the footrest, and I can actually push the footrest back in with my legs. All other of these types of chairs have footrests that are so hard to push back, I always have to climb out of the chair and push the footrest in with my hands. The fabric feels nice also. This is not a "sink-in and sitting on a cloud" type of chair but more in line with an old-fashioned club chair, solid and wide, comfy but without swallowing you. The seat are is very deep, so if I wish to pad up the seat for long TV watching times, I can just add a slim down pillow to sit on. The price was fantastic and shipping time just a few days.A few months later: I still love it, just wish my cats would leave it alone, they love to scratch on the fabric although I have two cat trees right next to the chair, and now I have a few threads coming loose on the side.A year later, I still like my chair although my cats have been doing a number on it and I thought of buying a second one and just surrender the old one to them but the price has increased by a 150 bucks and that makes this chair a bit more than I am willing to pay.

Esbjorn - 46.5'' Wide Oversized Big Man Recliner Slate Microfiber

Putting it together was a cinch. I did it by myself in less than 10 seconds, no tools, no screws, etc. Reclining mechanism works smoothly and effortlessly. And closing it is easy. I love the big size and it is sturdy. However I think it looks cheap. No padding on arm rest to lean on, makes it as comfortable as leaning on wood, so be sure to get a pillow. However, reclining back in it is comfy. The material is scratchy and reminds me of the fabric used for outdoor patio furniture, so I spread out a blanket to sit/lay on first before getting into the chair. I bought this for my office as a hypnotherapist and I think it is perfect for that type of situation. I am certain it will work for all shapes and sizes of people. If this was for my family room, I'd have opted for something with more padding and plush.
