Not Automatic

This dispenser requires a good shake for the food to fall down. Unless your pet knows to use their paws to scoop the food out, it doesn’t really work as intended. Would not use this if you are gone for long periods of time. Side by side comparison with another product after leaving it out during the day. The lid is also awkward to work with and the hole is hard to refill directly from the pet food bag. Do not recommend.

Do not leave for vacation food

My cats starved while I was out of town because they could not get the food to fall. I had to stick my fingers in and shake it to get it out. I felt so bad. Thankfully mine hunt and had a pet door so they could hunt.

Save yourself the effort and trust all the negative reviews. I'm not sure how anyone gets the food to consistently fall down without constantly helping it along. You absolutely can NOT leave you cats alone for longer than a day with this thing. Its pointless.

Does the job!

Holds a good amount of food. Decided to purchase this item for my large dog. He's never been an over eater so I want to give this a try and I am glad I did. Holds enough food for a week. Food does not always fall down but he has learned to push it with his nose.

Don’t waste your money

Complete waste of money. It doesn’t work, the food does not fall down. My cats have eaten everything in the tray all the way back to the holding vessel and the food still doesn’t fall down. Only sticking your fingers in and agitating it will make it fall down.

Cat feeder

Love it. I have a momma cat and four kittens. I fill the feeder and don’t have to worry about food for several days. I also have a water container. Same thing. Fill it, and don’t have to worry about their water for days.

Eh.. could be better!

Bought this for our cats while we are on vacation over the weekend. The feeder doesn't let food fall out so once the food in the bowl is ate, it doesn't let more out. A little shake does the trick but still have to have someone check on the cats while gone because of it. #sweepstakes

Terrible

I originally bought this for my small dogs. Their kibble is small, but I found myself constantly shaking this to drop the food. Even then it was only a small amount. Then I moved it to my cats and had even more issues. I gave up and bought a regular large bowl. Doesn't work. Might be better for guinea pig pellets.

Does not work

I bought the small one for my dogs. They eat the mini kibble dog food. It didnt dispense. So I figured it would work with my cat food. Nope. Waste of money. Not happy.

Petmate gravity feeder is adequate for our need. It looks good and functions okay for it's intended purpose. It works as well as the gravity feed pet feeder we are replacing. It seems most of these feeders still need you to help the food flow into the tray once the tray becomes empty.

Great little feeder

I got the feeder and the water set and they are great little aerodynamic Duo my kitties love them this is a 5-month-old kitten in the picture so you can kind of compare the size of the feeders to him they love it the only thing is sometimes I do have to work the food down a little bit. But great for the money would purchase again!

Went out of town for the week and wanted an extra automatic feeder just in case. This one is a good size. Slightly hard to fill with the scooper the refill hole is very small and the top doesn’t fit very well I’m afraid if it tipped over the lid would come off easily. The automatic filling feature is also a little tricky. Maybe it’s the kind of food we are using but often gets caught at the hole and doesn’t come out without some prodding. The cats do not like it as much as the other automatic feeder we already had but we will keep it.

Nice idea but poor design

So I bought this hoping to find something to feed our cats while we were away on a long weekend so I didn't have to bother the neighbors. I read reviews for multiple products and decided to try this one. Well, thankfully I decided to try it out before leaving, because it most certainly doesn't work like it's supposed to. The food gets stopped up and won't fall through, and the cats did not hold back in voicing their displeasure over the situation this morning. Should have saved the money and just set out extra bowls of food for them!

Poor Design

This gravity feeder is poorly designed. The opening where the food should continue to fall into the bowl has a lip so the food stops. Once the food in the outer bowl is gone, no more food falls into the bowl unless you shake the container, which defeats the purpose of the food be readily available for your pet. I will be returning this product.

Excellent Top Loader

I've had various gravity feeders over the years, and this is my favorite so far. Top loading is preferable when to don't want to play the "flip the full container over every single time" game.The lid comes off easily if you grab it in the middle at the click/latch tab spot, but also clicks/stays on securely, which prevents large spills if it gets bumped over. As with any gravity and all gravity feeders, you either pull food down for your spoiled animals, or you go the extra mile and actually teach them how to pull it down themselves. If they are truly hungry, and not just spoiled, they will stick their paw in there and scoop it themselves. Don't let them fool ya lol

Not wonderful

I bought this because it appeared to be a better gravity feeder than the ones I had previously. The lid is not easily removed--it pries off and the opening in the food holder is pretty small. Will not buy again--I have several cats

I was so excited when this item came back in stock, I ordered it ASAP. I purchased the largest size available for my 3 medium sized dogs and I’m satisfied with the size and quantity of water it can hold. My problems with this are that the actual bowl part is somewhat shallow for larger dogs and also seems small with the larger reservoir on it. I find there’s a lot of spillage due to an inadequate bowl. I also wish it performed a bit better. It does refill the bowl when water gets low, however there are times I have to coax it into refilling itself. So only 3 stars imo

Ok in a pinch

I got this feeder for my cat, because I work super early in the morning and need every minute of sleep I can get.
