Solid, sturdy chair. Easy to assemble. The seat is absolutely flat, so we added a cushion. We cut the legs back about 2" for kitchen counter use. There is no mention of wood type in the packaging or instructions. We gave it three coats of light stain finish, and it looks very nice. Home Depot curb service was excellent.

This is a very heavy, sturdy stool, comfortable style. The wood is very smooth but does not absorb stain very easily (even after pre stain sanding and prep.) The driftwood color I chose is growing on us. Would be great to recommend how to finish this type of wood. Maybe better to poly or paint?
