I would buy it again and again
Vibrant colors and easy for my students to use. Will buy again!
Great product
#sweepstakes This product is easy to use, covers well and is great to use on leather hard clay. I can add a design easily.
Deep rich color
#sweepstakes This is just what I wanted for an underglaze. It is deep and opaque. It makes the product look exceptionally professional
Love these underglazes
I bought these because I have never worked with underglazes. I was amazed how much I loved working with the underglaze on my clay. I could do lots of scribes and designs. Love it
Great for texture
I've used this on both greenware and bisque and it's very reliable. On bisque, I generally wipe it back to highlight texture. First pint jar lasted me a long time, and now I'm on my second. #sweepstakes
great value
Speed ball underglaze is great value for the price, fired reasonably smooth with only some patches, that were likely application errors. Will be buying again.
I would recommend this product for surface design
Great coverage. True colors after firing.
I will purchase this underglaze again.
Product arrived as advertised and on time. Nice red underglaze.
Great color, terrible application
I got the blue frost and while I love the color, the application of this underglaze is terrible. I've tried shaking and stirring it, but it's still super clumpy when applying it to greenware. I've even added water as suggested on the directions but nothing seems to work. Save yourself the headache and spend the couple extra dollars on the other brands.
Great customer service!
My recent order of several underglazes was minus one color. A quick phone call and my missing underglaze showed up in just two days, and at no charge. Blick customer service is incredibly responsive and helpful. All other on-line retailers, take note.
I would buy this product again.
I outline my designs on my pottery and use Speedball black underglaze. Never fails.
Love Speedball
I use these for screen printing onto newsprint and transferring onto my ceramics. I bought four colors and one lid cracked in transit and exploded over the entire bag (luckily all contained in a bag) and blick was quick to replace the damaged underglaze. Speedball underglazes also come a little thicker so perfect for screen printing.
Excellent underglazes - great colors and easy to use.
Great consistency for flooding and for brushing. The color fires nice and solid when three coats. Be sure to continually shake it as you apply!
Beautiful "tattoo blue"!
This underglaze is beautiful and amazing, if I could give it more than 5 stars I would! The color is so vibrant! With a clear coat over the top, it is literally perfection! If I had to change anything about it, it would be the bottle. It's not my favorite, but it's also not a deal breaker.
Speedball Underglaze
This is a true yellow. I haven't used it except without a clear glaze and at cone 5. Maintained the same color as I saw in the bottle. My first time trying Speedball and I will use them again.
Not good for large area application
The product doesn't work as well as other brands for coating large areas use it for only thin detailing. When applied to larger areas, it easily peels off after or causes the glaze above it to craze. Everything was applied and fired to the proper temps, several different times and pieces. Speedball doesn't ever reply when sent a question via their site nor answer the phone. There are barely any solutions by hunting the internet.
ok but not great
You can save money by getting these to try out and experiment with. But they are a little gritty compared to other brands and they don't paint on as smoothly. Best if used on greenware that is leather hard. Great for sgraffito. Colors are nice and bright when fired.
Don't buy the Brown! (Other colors are good though)
The brown crawls on bisqueware. Do not use it on bisqueware or your work will be ruined.
Unusable
I purchased four underglazes. All four were watery with tiny clumps of glaze that would not mix in the bottle even with vigorous shaking and stirring. Fired my underglazed pieces to cone 05 - the pots did not glaze.
Good underglaze for mid range stoneware
I need a reliable and affordable underglaze for my students use. This fits the bill.
