Sleek Design and Now We Can All Find the Bread

It's a very simple metal box in a matte black. Nothing fancy but it does the job. The stencil on the front "bread" is nice and clear. The lid will slam down and make you jump so be a little careful with it. We used to have bread, rolls and maybe biscuits on the counter. Now we corral all of them into this box. Makes the counter look neater. Overall we like it.

Is the little metal handle functional?

Does the little metal handle on the front have any function (snap the lid down) or just for lifting and closing? It looks small and wondering if it would break easily??
