Reviews
This ice maker stopped working almost immediately (within the first month or two of use). The light to add water keeps coming on even when it is filled with water, and it won't make ice. We had a similar ice maker from a different brand for 3 years with no issues. Hoping to be able to return this one or get a refund thru the warranty. Complete waste of money.
Works well!
Works well! 2 cube sizes and self cleaning option is nice as my last one (Frigidaire) got moldy and when I cleaned it manually, it somehow broke. I recommend using vinegar to clean since vinegar is edible. Also, it was a little slow the first time I used it. Now it makes ice quicker. Don't get discouraged and return if it doesn't make ice very quickly the first couple of tries.
Great Quality
This was a Father's Day gift for my husband. He loves it. Doesn't take long to generate enough ice for a regular cup. As the ice melts that you don't use, it goes back into the reservoir to be used again, so you don't have to worry about waste. It's kind of like making morning coffee for us, we turn it on when we wake up so it starts making ice first thing, then we turn it off in the evening. I definitely recommend this product.
only branded Igloo
I’ve purchased 2 of these ice makers. The first one broke after about a year and ai assumed it was something I may have done so I purchased another one. Well 13 months into owning and this one is broken too. Contacted Igloo but they confirmed it’s only their name/brand on the product. Nostalgia is the manufacturer. Their warranty is only 1 year from date of purchase. You have to contact them 30 days in advance if there is an issue. Don’t buy-not worth it
It does not freeze and KEEP the ice, so it melts.
I was terribly disappointed in this product and returned it. It runs constantly but does not KEEP the ice. Instead, the ice melts and the water is re-used, causing the machine to constantly use electricity. Seems like a huge waste of energy. If I had nothing else to do but empty the basket every half hour and put it in my freezer, it would make a lot of ice. But after running all night long, I had a half-full basket of melting ice. That is not worth the cost of the electricity use.
I hate filling ice trays
I bought this for my husband, who works as a tow truck driver. He takes a cooler full of water and snacks to work every day, and he was sick of purchasing ice to fill the cooler every morning. We purchased the Igloo 26-Pound Automatic Self-Cleaning Ice Maker and it’s been a money saver. This ice maker produces 9 cubes every 6 mins or so, leaving us with plenty of ice for both the cooler and drinks at home. It’s self cleaning, which I love because fitting appliances into the kitchen sink can be challenging. I’m also an ice chewer, and this machine gives you an option between large and smalle ice, the smaller ice being ideal for chewing and the larger ideal for beverages. I highly recommend this appliance to anyone who loves a chilly beverage after a long day.
Love it! Noisy but does the job!
The ice dispenser is noisy to where I think there’s a larger machine running like the washer! It fits the job efficiently! A few cubs are completed within 5 mins and continue until either there’s no water or sometimes a few cubes fail to drop into the basket so it thinks the tray is full. Once you drop the cubes down it restarts. Cubes are larger than I expected but chewable! Fits nicely on counter as small appliance.
Good machine
So far it's great. This is our second ice machine. Our first was a different brand, which we had running and making ice 24/7. It burnt out fast do to stalling with over filled ice or low water. This machine is so much better, it turns off the motor when full of ice or low on water until it is assisted with the situation.
Good little ice maker
I bought this a few days ago.
Handy RV Appliance
We are living in an RV while we build a new home. Tired of buying bags of ice, we decided to get this Igloo ice maker. If you need lots of ice initially, this won't accommodate that. However, if you just need some to keep your beverages cold, this fits the bill. Once it gets going, it produces quite a bit and would start to fill a zip lock bag for freezing. It lets you know when the ice bin is full or it needs more water. I usually dump in 1 1/2 water bottles (normal size) initially. If you are patient with getting cute ice cubes then I would highly recommended it
Not Perfect, but Sure am Glad I Have It
I read all the reviews, good and bad, but this was the smallest ice maker I had found and I gave it a shot. So glad I did. I have fresh ice every day and don't have to parcel out my freezer ice cubes like they were gold. There are a few design issues. Like the drain at the bottom that has to be opened manually and hope you have a big enough vessel to catch the excess water. Or the excess water. For some reason, it doesn't use all the water you put in, so you are left with the need to drain the water with the user-unfriendly drain. The cubes are very wet, but after they have been in the freezer in a plastic bag, I drop the bag on the floor and the cubes break apart instantly. And it takes a lot longer than projected -- hours to create a full freezer bag of ice. And having said all that, I am still so happy to have it. Beats the heck out of two plastic ice cube trays in my freezer!
Dangerous machine
I've had it for almost 2 years. I absolutely loved it at first, but for whatever reason the ice making metal started to rust. So I unplugged for a few months and was waiting to see if I could find someone to fix it up. My friend said it wouldn't kill us to use it this way so I plugged it back in a few days ago. The ice seemed fine for a few days but then I noticed a burning plastic smell in my house when I woke up yesterday, I unplugged every small appliance we have until I could figure out where it was coming from. Fast forward to today when I went to make ice, I checked to see if the water level was good and when I opened it I got a whiff of the most burnt chemical/plastic odor. So I lifted the ice basket and the water is now toxic. You can see in the photos their is a bubbly green film in the water and on the basket. Had I been out of the house when this all started, I could have came home to a fire. I know Rona no longer sells these but I'm posting my review in case someone wants to go searching for this model and hopefully sees that it's unsafe.
Does what is says.
Got it on sale and so it was definitely worth it. The item does exactly what it says and works well. If you want to make a lot of ice, you will want to dump it in bags However it made a set of small cubes in about 7 minutes each time which is enough to add to a glass but definitely not enough to fill it. It’s easy to use and has a drain hole on bottom when you’re finished with it. It makes quite a bit from a full tank so I didn’t feel like I had to fill it often. The size is more counter friendly than I thought. It does make a little fan noise when it’s running but it’s not bad.
