Cheap
So disappointed in these drapes and JC Penney. I purchased eight panels in two different colors. I was disappointed in the quality, but they were inexpensive. I wash four of the panels to get the wrinkles out. I went by the instructions, washed in cold and dried on low. The backing came out a semi-melted wrinkled mess. But since I washed them, even though I followed the directions, they cannot be returned. One of the reasons I shopped at JC Penney's was because they used to stand by their sales. Not anymore. Sad.
These get two stars as they do a great job blocking light. But these are not nice curtains. Look ok from across a room but close up and in hand are like a cheap tablecloth. They also do nothing to block heat. The drapes they replaced were heavy, actually made of fabric, and had a nice liner that did a great job blocking the summer heat coming through my bedroom window. I can feel the heat coming through these, not surprising considering how thin they are, so zero stars for being "thermal" and zero stars for the disgusting "fabric" these are made of.
Hard to tell with the light blazing in the window. But these are perfect for our application. They are more of a print on almost plastic fabric but I only need them for warming up the room and softening the windows so it doesn’t look like prison!! The color is warm and perfect with the rest of my room. Shipped really quickly. Topped them with a black valance to give more dramatic effect. Love it.
Purchased in black. They definitely block out the light. You can see a little come through sides and top, but we didn’t have them perfectly drawn out to the sides either. They are not heavy, rather thin and lightweight which is nice so they washed easily and don’t weigh down your curtain rod.
[Rewarded Review] Look Great
I bought these drapes for two small windows on each side of my front door. I use one drape on each window and swag it away from my front door. My husband got tired of the afternoon sun filtering through my blinds. These work perfect. Can be easily closed in the afternoon and pulled back in a swag for my satisfaction. This is not my first purchase of drapes from J C Penny. Quality and price, if purchased on sale, can't be beat.
True Blackout Curtains
This is a single curtain panel. The curtain did block out the sun (even during the day) *note my curtain doesn't sit right up against the wall but that was how I set up my curtain rod. The curtain fabric wasn't quite what I had expected. The close up image that shows the detail of the fabric swirled up led me to believe that it would be a bit more heavy duty & almost denim textured than it actually was. It reminded me of a mixed shower curtain of fabric & plastic. I would say all of the other product images seem more accurate to how the curtain looks (with a smooth texture). The blue was a pretty color. This review was written by a full-time Bed Bath & Beyond employee. I received the product for free in exchange for my honest feedback.
Blackout curtains also block out heat and cold
Purchased these curtains for an east facing door that gets a lot of sun in the summer and too much chill in the winter. When closed completely these curtains absolutely block out the light but the biggest benefit to me is how they insulate against the weather and help reduce my energy bill. I used a tension rod (also purchased at Target.com) and installed one blackout panel between the storm door and the wood door located in my kitchen. I use a tie-back to allow light during mild weather and when it gets either too hot and sunny or too cold and frosty, close the curtain completely and can literally feel the difference in the temperature in my kitchen. The panel is easy to launder as well, I wash it in cool water and dry it on low heat. I plan on purchasing another panel and tension rod for my front door too. Very pleased with this purchase and I would recommend it highly.
I ordered these panels to replace others that I had ordered. I needed longer length. These panels worked out fine. The only thing that I didn't like the feel of them, they are quite stiff, so they hang different. They were a good color match and they worked fine. I do wish that my first choice would have been available in the length I needed. It all was good in the end. I am happy with the overall product.
[Rewarded Review] Nice curtains
I wanted some curtains that would be light in color and weight that would block the cold in our bedroom. Our bedroom is the farthest room in the house from the heatpump so in the winter our bedroom is cold at night. I knew I wanted white curtains and I came across these. They are perfect. They're not super heavy, but they do seem to keep our bedroom warmer at night. I open the curtains during the day so I also knew I needed grommet top curtains. These slide nicely across the curtain rods and open and close easily. My only negative on these curtains is that they are not very wide. Since our bedroom windows are more wide, I needed 4 panels since each panel is only 40 inches wide. But they were very affordable, so that wasn't a problem. They also do a great job at blocking out most of the sunlight during the day when I lay the baby down in our room.
[Rewarded Review] Life changing.
Some people get curtains for the aesthetic, some get them to keep out the light. I like to think I’m a happy middle man.
[Rewarded Review] Great looking curtains really blackout well!
I selected Sun Zero’s Cyrus Thermal Insulated Blackout curtain panels for my guest bedroom. It gets a lot of sun on one window and I decided to give these a try. Overall I am impressed, I selected these curtains in white and when closed they blackout the sunlight 100%. I also notice they do cut down on noise and drafts as well but the blackout feature was most important. These panels look and feel nice. The fabric is soft and lightweight as is the backing or lining fabric. These are well sewn and stitched. The fabric is polyester and is machine washable. I washed and hung these straight from the dryer without ironing and they look perfect. These are very easy to hang obviously with the grommets. These are curtain panels but they do look nice in the room as they are floor length so they impress as drapes and also look nice when opened. Very pleased with these Sun Zero panels the quality, look, simplicity and benefits are excellent.
[Rewarded Review] Keeps the Light Out & Price is Right
I got these for my kid's room so the room would stay dark and they wouldn't wake up with the sun. While I wish I'd sprung for a color or design, these are simple curtains and definitely keep the sun out - I would liken them to "blackout" curtains in hotels. The grommets are nice quality and seem big enough for any sized curtain rod - and they slide easily back and forth (I've found that some fabric "tab top" or "rod pocket" curtains get stuck on curtain rods where the metal pieces overlap). My only complaint is that the "blackout" side of the curtain feels kind of "plastic-y" - not that big of a deal since you don't see it, but I have seen other blackout curtains that look and feel more like fabric on both sides. I'm guessing the material helps with the "thermal" callout, but I didn't specifically get these to help keep the room warm. Two 40x84 panels fit a standard double window perfectly, but I would consider getting slightly wider panels if you want the fabric to overlap and make sure NO light peeks through in the middle where the two panels meet. Overall, nice product that accomplishes the goal, though!

[Rewarded Review] High Quality
These LichtenbergSunZero Cyrus Grommet 40×84 White sun blocking curtains are so nice. This is a crisp white color. The insulating liner is the same white shade so there is nothing changing the beautiful white tone. The material has a high end look and feel. There are no missed stitches or loose threads. The silver grommets really pop against the white. They are easy to hang and take down for washing. I really like that they are machine washable and I can tumble dry at home as opposed to dry cleaning. I was skeptical if the white color would be able to really block the light but absolutely no light seeps through. I'm very happy with these and highly recommend them.
[Rewarded Review] Great Light Blockage
Each white panel is sold separately and are semi thick. They do a great job at blocking out light and the sun. The material is smooth. Each panel comes with large built-in metal grommets for easy hanging and can fit curtain rods up to 1.5" in diameter.
[Rewarded Review] Nice quality simple black-out curtains
These are nice quality simple black-out curtains. The color is more of an off white than a true bright white in my opinion. They do a great job blocking out light (as you can see in the photo side-by-side). I like that the back has the option of using tabs to hang or just put your curtain rod through the entire top. My biggest complaint is the wrinkles! I steamed and steamed and the creases lessened but are still visible. I am going to leave them hanging in the bathroom in hopes the remaining wrinkles lessen. Besides the wrinkle issue (I was nervous about putting them in the dryer but maybe I should try that), the curtains are very nice and will do a good job of keeping the light out when needed.
Unbelievable positive reviews. Received these just to find out the backing is of a plastic consistency which seems very risky, if not impossible, to iron as the wording of the description indicates. of course, the curtains resemble a mismatched cross between a shower curtain and a living room curtain. Ridiculous! What a disingenuous presentation to the online shopper! Disgusting attempt to make a fast easy dollar off the unsuspecting consumer. Also disparaging are all the wimpy positive reviews which encourage this dishonest practice. No wonder the quality of products across the board are going downhill at such a tremendous speed. Buyer Beware of this poor excuse for living room curtains.
Excellent Blackout
I have bought many of these curtains from several different vendors. My plan is to put them up in every room of my house as the liner layer on double rods that wrap around to let the curtains touch the wall to help seal out light and either heat or cold depending on the season. I'm also gradually installing new thermal windows, but they are expensive, so these curtains will help especially while we are without the thermal windows in all room.
[Rewarded Review] It works as it should
