[Rewarded Review] Replacement for Curtain Rod

Bought this to replace one my kids bent. The directions were not super clear because I thought you had to have some kind of tool to pop out the screw that holds the rack in place to the wall, but it just pops up. That was not clear in the directions though, so took me a few minutes to figure that part out. But, once I got that, then it was super easy to install and looks great.

I purchased this curtain rod because I was looking for a wrap around rod I could mount close to the ceiling (other wrap around rods I've purchased previously required the rod to slide down onto the wall mount, which was not an issue with this - this rod mounts horizontally into the wall mount. Which leads to my one real complaint about this rod - it's "fastened" to the wall bracket by a slide in pin. The pin fits pretty flush to the rod, so if you need to remove the pin, it's difficult to get a good grip on/avoid dropping the pin when removing. Also, the pin falls out easily, so the rod will separate from the bracket easily, if you try assembling it and holding it up to the wall before drilling holes, especially if working alone. I think a screw in pin would be better. Also, while the assembly/mounting is easy, the directions could be better. I'm sure it wouldn't have taken much effort for them to advise what size drill bit to use for pilot holes, especially for the drywall anchors (I used 3/16, which worked perfectly). Overall, the rod does the job and I'm satisfied with the purchase.

My kitchen has a Dutch door to the outside. This curtain rod solved the problem of multiple holes in the wood and the fact the hardware could be seen. With only one screw at each end, this rod was easy to install and pleasant to look at.

Piece of crap

One of the most poorly designed pieces of crap I've ever purchased. Certainly not worth the $25 I paid for it! First, you'll need a super long driver bit for your drill cuz the main screw goes in at the bottom of a 1.25" cylinder. Next, be SURE, once you have your bit fitted into the head of the screw, do NOT release it cuz once the screw is partially in the wall, you'll never get the driver bit snugly back into the screw head once you move it, let alone remove it. And, when THAT happens, kiss that screw goodbye. These screws are made of such a soft metal, it takes nothing at all to render the screw head incapable of accommodating the driver bit. Then there's the piece of crap hardware meant to be screwed into the wall or window frame where the center of the rod will be in order to provide extra support. There are 2 screw holes. Good luck getting a screw of any kind into the first/top hole. It's not JUST that there's no room for the nose of even your smallest drill, there's not even room for your longest driver bit. If you have the hand strength to use a manual, Phillips head screw driver, you'll still be forced to hold it at an angle to get that top screw in. That center support piece also comes with a set screw for holding the curtain rod in place. Only, the screw hole faces the wall. You CAN get it in there by hand and finger tighten it, but you'll need the world's shortest, manual screw driver if you want it any tighter. This curtain rod is pretty. But, I do believe it was designed by engineers who were high on something pretty trippy cuz there's nothing logical to it at all.
