Garbage

Tops warp on the corners causing leaks. I called to see about warranty information which is on their website for 10 years. Had it 7 and they tell me not covered. I have bought several other Suncast products around the same time and they all suck. Garbage cans with warped tops and sides that warped. Garbage cans on my deck for 4 months a year same as the deck boxes and then stored in my shed. Save your money avoid this plastic garbage.

Suncast products are junk

I bought a Suncast deck box in 2021. By 2022 the the lid had warped. They sent a new one after I submitted receipt and pictures. The replacement lid began to warp in 2023 and completely warped in 2024. Suncast is refusing to replace this deck box that obviously has a product defect. The representative from Suncast was not going to work with me on this issue. I recommend to find a different storage box and company.

Poorly fitting parts

Assembly instructions poor. IKEA pictographs are far better. Had to enlarge predrilled holes in metal hinge support brackets because supplied screws were too big for manufactured drilled holes as supplied. Once assembled the locking mechanism prevented lid from closing all the way because front panel was warped so badly. Had to jury rig a pull handle on the front panel to pull it out allowing the lid to close. Would not recommend especially at this price range.

This box is awesome! The ease of putting it together was quite surprising whereby, it went together in about 15 minutes with normal tools. I did cheat and using an impact driver (carefully) to put the screws in. The directions were well written and easy to follow. My wife wanted a cabinet to use to store our pool supplies in to include a seat on our veranda - this was it. Highly recommend this product!

Beware !!

The box is for deck cushions, it does the job, the problem is the instructions. I found when it came to installing the lift pistons, the instructions didn't explain properly and I wasn't able to install them. I'm handy and surprised I couldn't figure it out! I also found the snap together sides and bottom didn't lock. I had to use screws to keep them together. It does what I want it to do. Just be aware of the instructions. Look them up online to see if you can figure it out.....

We ordered the same deck box as we've had for years. We loved it because it protected our cushions from rain and elements. During our move it got cracked so I needed to purchase a new one. This one came on time, but when we assembled it we noticed it didn't have the same lid closure as our previous one. I'm considering of sending it back since I have insurance on it. The only way this new one will close is if we lock something where the padlock would go. We have no reason to use a padlock and would prefer to just keep is closed without the extra hassle. I'm not happy with this purchase.

This is our second time purchasing this item, a few years apart. We repurchased because we love the item. Lots of room, durable throughout the seasons. The new box has gone through significant cost-cutting exercises. The hinges are plastic instead of metal, there is less metal reinforcement throughout the box, and this has caused the top to misalign slightly with the base. I can still close the box with some work, but the prior version I could simply push it and it would self-close.

After five years it still looks brand new

I purchased this deck box over five years ago. It sits outside year round in direct sunlight, heavy rain, and snow. It still looks brand new, never leaks, and doesn’t rust. I store in it a couple of cushions, logs for the fire pit, a battery operated blower, a portable radio, and a small TV and everything is protected and dry. I highly recommend this deck box.

Summary: This is a a big, solid, and fairly good-looking storage box, with build quality that is rough around the edges, and a sometimes-frustrating assembly experience. At 134 gallons, this thing is huge. It is well-suited to storing a variety of yard items, from furniture and cushions, to towels, to gardening tools, and more. It looks decent. The single hue design leaves something to be desired, but the woven wood effect pattern makes it look probably as good as it can look for a big plastic box. The assembly process was a little annoying due to small inconsistencies in the instructions, and slightly shoddy build quality. For example, there are several holes that the instructions indicate should be pre-drilled, but aren’t. It’s not always super clear which specific piece should be used at each step, nor how to orient it, but presents no problems that are insurmountable. Once it is assembled, it feels quite sturdy. It can be carried by one person with straps or long enough arms, but I would recommend getting someone to help. Moving it solo can get tricky, especially in tight spaces. tl;dr: Assembly and quality aren’t perfect, but it’s a good storage option despite this.

Very heavy material and durable! I only gave 4 stars because the assembly was very time consuming. Lots of screws and hard to get the screws into the plastic. I still need help putting the lid on, but overall great product! This will be great to store outdoor items/gardening materials. The box also says you can use as a bench for extra seating - win win!

The 134 gallon extra large deck box is extremely easy to put together and very well-made. I love that it's all Weather construction provides water resistance, and UV protection. It's perfect to store pool equipment or toys. It's able to be padlocked and the lid is easy to operate because of the spring assisted mechanism. It's also very easy to keep clean. I would highly recommend this deck box to my family and friends.

I would not recommend

It is not easy to assemble. Step 1 did not align. You need a mallet with no instructions. There were more holes available on the brackets than the instructions stated. I finally completed it and the latch does not align or close. We purchased lawn furniture from Home Depot that we love so cushions can go I. This box. We saw positive reviews and purchased it. I tried several different locations for the screw but it did not close. I can make it close and seal but it is forced. I want a remedy.

Pathetic

I bought this storage box to keep cushions clean when not in use. When I opened the box to assemble I saw that the front side and back panels consisted of two pieces. The corners are simply thinly molded flexible plastic built into the blow molded panels. When examining the quality of the build it reminded me of a sandwich bag. Super thin, plastic that I could push in with my finger. Nevertheless I push forward and assembled the piece. Assembly is very easy since there are only a few screws and metal stakes that hold it together. I hoped that when it was assembled it would have some structural integrity. It does not.

Good size, waterproof and looks great!

I put this together by myself. It would have been helpful to have another pair of hands. I do really like this deck box. It has been raining alot here and no water has been entering the box. Please have someone help hold the lid during installation. The panels slide around. Do not put the metal piece(used to lock it) on the lid until you have the lid attached to the box. The instructions have you installing it earlier. The metal piece was sharp and pointed. It dug into my body scrapping me badly when the lid slipped a few times trying to attach it.

Purchased this box appr. 4 years ago for our deck...

Purchased this box appr. 4 years ago for our deck and, aside from a little jury-rigging to assemble the box, it came with hydraulic lifts which work very well and the box keeps everything dry. We were very disappointed in the quality of the box we just purchased for our daughter. It would not assemble properly without a LOT of jury rigging, the lift cylinders were CHEAPENED coming spring-loaded and not hydraulic as was our previous deck box. The locking feature is actually useless on both and the manufacturer shouldn't even bother. Would NEVER buy another Suncast product again, and could not believe this was made in the USA...what a disgrace.

Round hole for square piece so it cannot lock

It took longer to put together than expected. Screwing small screws into plastic in some very narrow spots took strength and dexterity. The instructions were not always clear, but the online video helped. After several hours, I was done and ready to close the lid. BUT! The metal lid latch is square and the hole in plastic it is supposed to fit in is round! The only way to shut the lid is to remove the latch, which removes the ability to lock the bin. For $250, this is not acceptable.

Junk

Nice size, and appears to be watertight, but I would not buy it again. I bought a somewhat smaller one of these years ago, and am still very happy with it, but this one is a major quality downgrade. First, the assembly instructions are useless. I'd never have got it together without finding a 4+ minute video online by a guy who figured it out, with a lot of trouble. Second, there are a lot of unexplained left-over parts, which is troubling. What did I miss? Third, and by far the biggest, is that it is a really shoddy design. With the box empty, both the front and the back have a tendency to cave in. They are only held to the sides by a flimsy "tab A into slot B" type of design. More or less a friction fitting. I'm a retired engineer, and I think the design is incredibly stupid. I kept it because I needed to use it immediately, and the contents will hold it together temporarily. I made a quick effort to fix it with construction adhesive, but it didn't stick to the plastic. I'm going to end up drilling holes in it to attach a rigid frame. Pain in the neck!

Large capacity for deck furniture cushions

Bought this to place our deck furniture cushions in, which were too large to fit in our existing 99-gal Suncast deck box. Assembly was straightforward for two people, and took about 30 minutes. One notable thing is that most of the screw holes are NOT pre-drilled, which can lead to mistakes in placement if you're not careful. The self-tapping screws can be driven manually, but it's a bit easier with an electric screwdriver, although some spaces are too tight for it. The lid comes with two pneumatic pistons that pop it open and hold it open nicely. On the other hand, closure relies, in part, on a metal tab in the lid (for a padlock) squeezing into a plastic hole on the top of the box, which can obviously wear out over time. However, the main reason I gave this 4 stars was that some water gets inside the box from rain - I'm not sure where, as the lid overhangs the top edge of the box and there is a small lip almost all the way around - the water may be getting drawn in by capillary action. Regardless, this should not happen for a product designed to live outside. This is in contrast to our other 99-gal Suncast box (DBW9200) that has an older design and seems to have a higher lip around the top edge of the box - it keeps completely dry.

Looks great but unless you have an engineering degree ....

you will have difficultly following the printed instructions, which are gobbledegook. I finally got it assembled but every time I look at it I am reminded of how frustrating it was to put together. The printed instructions fail to mention until instruction #10 that there are no predrilled holes in the lid. That should have been made clear in instruction # 8, where it is necessary for the first time to drill your own holes through the plastic. As a result, I spent lots of time trying to figure out where, exactly, to position the reinforcement bar and hinges. The schematic drawings in the instructions are undecipherable so they were no help. Did nobody at Suncast proofread these instructions? Did management call in anybody who wasn't involved in the engineering process to try to assemble this chest by following the instructions? Obviously not -- otherwise they would have made sure the instructions are clear and that the drawings showing where the metal hinges and reinforcement bar should be positioned show exactly where these pieces should be attached to the lid and which way they should face. Suncast also produced a video on youtube featuring a perky spokeswoman named Caitlin who is more concerned with being cute (sniffing her grandmother's knitted afghan was particularly annoying) than actually explaining how to assemble the unit. She spends half the video explaining what you can put in the box. Luckily, there is a Vietnamese language video on youtube and, while I couldn't understand what the guy was saying, I was finally able to figure out what to do from watching him put this thing together -- the Suncast-produced video is worthless.

Leaks from yet undiscovered area

While other reviews noted that the latch prevents the top from closing properly, I am ok with that. It is gradually carving out the proper hole for the latch to enter.
