[Rewarded Review] Very serviceable, good price
Overall pretty good, worth the price. Just made a trip from KY to FL; added several bungees for extra security, and no issues for the full two-way trip. Some parts don’t fit align/fit the best and make it challenging to use, but I like the feature that the sides fold up when not in use - you just might need something to bang on the pins to set them.
XC2
Sturdy, solid, great for the price point!
Excellent Rack
Excellent rack!!!!!!
BIKE TRANSPORT WIN!
We used this to transport two bikes 1,200 miles without any incident whatsoever. On long drives, just make sure everything's tight. Ratchet the top hooks tightly for really long drives and tighten the hitch bolt. We even drove through the Washington DC rush hour on that trip. No issue. We also use it locally and love how easy it is to remove the bikes, I love it!
Do Not Buy
I had a bike fall off with this rack. In reading other one star reviews on Amazon, this is a common occurrence. Swagman claims that I didn’t install the bikes properly. This is a serious issue if your bike falls off on the highway. I bought two, one for our permanent residence and one for our winter residence. Both are going to a scrap dealer.
[Rewarded Review] Awesome 2 bike carrier for the back of a 5th wheel
It is a great bike carrier on the back of our rv.
Great but get the XTC2
I have had mine long term and love it.i upgraded the tray to a fat bike tray and would recommend doing the same. I never used the trays that come with it without a srap on the wheels which is the biggest problem with this rack. For 25 dollars you can upgrade to the XTC2 and get better trays. I've had my rack for maybe 7 years and the rack is rusted, the trays don't move smoothly and it still works every time. The teeth on the upright bar have finally worn down and I will either replace the bar or simply rotate it 180 degrees to get new teeth. Simply put, I can't justify replacing this rack because it still works.
Nice rack and easy to load.
We have had this rack for a few years and have been really happy with it. My wife and I have hybrid bikes and they fit very well.
Works Great, Not E-bike Ready
I have had few to no problems with this product. It has been great to haul a couple of bikes a few hundred miles to the beach. It is easy to mount onto the car. It is pretty easy to put the bikes on. The bike that goes next to the vehicle is a little trickier. It holds the bikes well and does not scratch the frames. Occasionally it is tough to move the ratchet up to remove the bikes. Not sure why. I just keep trying and keep jiggling until it releases. I like how it folds up. Wish it would tilt, but other models do. My wife now upgraded to an e-bike, and that bike is 10 pounds heavier than the 35 pound rating for this model. Plus, it is a step through bike, so I am going to have to upgrade to something sturdier. But this model was great for 2 normal bikes and a good value.
Exactly what I wanted
I shopped for rack of this style and was shocked by prices! I’m sure…there’s a place for all the high priced racks, but I wanted an affordable rack to attach to my roadster in order transport my road bike.
Quality
It is metal and nice...use a good metal paint on it and it will last many extra years..
Good quality bike carrier.
Glad I spent extra for a better quality bike carrier.
I only need one bike rack!
It's the perfect bike rack. Doesn't block my view through the rear window and the bikes are easy to get on and off the rack. The customer service lady that helped me was right on. Answered all my questions!
Good quality bicycle carrier for less!
For the price, this is a good quality carrier. Well built, folds easily and assembles with ease. Once adjusted for your bikes, it's a perfect carrier for the occasional use. I would recommend adding velcro ties for the wheels and pins for grab bars to prevent bike movement.
Bike rack
Very easy to use .
Good value but be careful
Hard to beat for the price. Best to pad arms or paint will rub off bikes. If you insert rack too far into receiver, it may jam and become very difficult to remove. I had to get help from a body shop. Once bolted in correctly, the rack seems more stable than some reviewers suggest.
Works as it should.
Works as it should.
No extra features, but made well and functions as it should
This is a solidly constructed hitch mounted bike rack. It holds up to 2 bikes and folds for storage. Initial assembly was intuitive (didn't require following instructions) and only took about 5 minutes from unboxing to connecting it to my hitch. It has ratcheting clamps to keep the bikes in place. This works, but I added straps (the idea of watching either or both of my bikes bouncing down the road behind me after I have hit a bump is terrifying). There is a little bit of a squeak/rattle noise introduced when the rack is connected to the hitch, but this could easily be addressed with a hitch clamp. Note: This rack does not pivot outwards to allow access to a tailgate or rear hatch (it has to be removed for access). When not in use, the 2 "wings" of the rack (the parts that cradle the bike tires) fold upward, however, the rack does not pivot, slide, or otherwise change position to reduce how far it sticks out behind the vehicle (this can be inconvenient if you have space issues where you park). Bottom line: I would recommend this rack to anyone that is looking for a solid, no frills method for transporting 1 or 2 bikes.
Great bike rack.
Very good quality rack. We like the design because it supports the bikes from the wheels at the bottom and has hooks that stabilize the frame at the top.
Great Bike Rack
I waited to write this review until I had some solid experience with it. We bought this a year ago and have great results. We seldom use it in town, because we live on a regional trail. However, we do use it to take the bikes to the shop for tune-ups and service. Our main use is for road trips. We took a 2,500 mile road trip with our bikes last year. This was solid and held our bikes securely in all road conditions. Its easy to put on the truck and easy to install and remove the bikes. One word of advice, though. Put something on the bike frame before clamping it down in the frame to keep from rubbing the paint off. We just wrap a small towel around the frame, clamp it into the rack and its ready to roll. I highly recommend this tough, sturdy and convenient bike rack.
