Rickety. Handle will NOT stay on. Frustrating.

The first one I bought was amazing! It lasted years until I dropped and broke it. This new model is extremely frustrating because the handle falls off with every turn. It came with a spare blade but unfortunately I can't find it. Unfortunately it no longer peels the apples.

Starfrit Apple Peeler. Older vs New

Bought this a replacement for an older Starfrit apple peeler(similar model). Starfrit does not make the purchase of additional blades easy. The new unit came with two blades. I thought the older Starfrit functioned better than the new one. Some hard, mishappen apples were a challenge. I don't know if Starfrit changed anything but the older Starfrit worked better on hard, odd sized apples. On regular sized apples it was acceptable but put ridges in the apples

Pictures make this apple peeler look like a shaky gimmick, but appearances are deceiving. The silicone suction-cup feet keep the unit firmly anchored on a non-porous surface, the mechanical action is solid, and best of all, the device does what it claims to do. This peeler quickly will yield a peeled, intact apple. Good size, uniformly round apples will have the best results.
