The lights are two separate strings of lights coming from the control unit despite the display image making it look like they're one straight line

In short, I like having string lights strung up around my living room, but the way my outlets are placed, I need to have one continuous string of lights to set it up properly. These lights aren't cheap, but I figured I'd spring for them, and I was upset to see that the lights are set up such that it's two separate bundles of light stemming from the control unit instead of them being one continuous string of lights. One of the images does show two bundles of lights, but it looked to me as though one bundle connected to the other (I already used velcro zips to shorten the slack between my daisy-chained normal string lights so I figured I could do the same here). I double checked that I didn't just misread the item description or overlook something, but nothing seems to mention how the lights are organized, so to me, this felt like deceptive advertising. The lights themselves seem to be of a nice quality, but the app kind of skeeves me out that you need to sign up for an account and explicitly check a box allowing them to sell your data to continue.

Hours of fun, envious neighbours....

Bought a set from White beginning of december 23. The app works work well on our samsung A14's. On our older tablet ( 5+years) it crashed on some of the "fancy" functions like effects, but still allowed you to set it up the tree and light colours. Your neighbours look at you funny photographing your tree in daylight as part of setting up the effects. Once we moved to the Samsung, everything worked well, after several days of trying out the effects, and setting the timer.. the revelation...PLAYLIST.. and effect editor. So now our tree goes through our 6 favourite effects, changing every half an hour. So whether you like "in your face" union jacks rotating around your tree, or something more subtle (like us) a mid green with twinkling stars, a slow fade around the colours, or just a single colour ( and any colour) it works great.

Super expensive lights - no warranty support!

I've got two of these strings of smart lights. One lasted a couple weeks, and then showed nothing but a flashing white led saying it was trying to rebuild the firmware. Basically, the PROGRAM of the lights is corrupted, so the whole string doesn't work. I'm 13 months into warranty, and they offer me 50% OFF NEW LIGHTS! Dude! At 80.00, they are stupid expensive lights for one darn season! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DONT GET THESE "SMART" LIGHTS THEY DON'T WANT TO SUPPORT!

Extremely Disappointed DO NOT WORK

These lights are pricey, though they seemed to be amazing fit their capabilities and worth it. I plugged them in, they were finicky and didn't come on at first. I went to a different power source and after 5 minutes of messing with them they worked. I proceeded to put them on my 10 ft Christmas tree and then finished decorating it with ornaments.

Think twice before a Twinkly purchase. Quality and reliability are low. Last year we purchased a $230 light string in November prior to the US Holidays. We installed the string in December and enjoyed beautiful colors through the month, then took them down and stored them carefully in a plastic container (less than 6-weeks total use). This year in the same timeframe we re-installed the lights in the same exterior location and are experiencing two defects that Twinkly has acknowledged as “Hardware Defects,” but they are unwilling to address. 1. No light section. A section of lights does not respond to the app or hardware reset, and only shows functional lights during the RGB Tests that Twinkly techs asked us to try. 2. Random colors. Sections of the strings do not respond to selected colors, showing either a similar color family, or a very light blue or white lights.

Pure Sparkly Magic 💖🌟

Walked by the display yesterday and spied these…grabbed one box of 400-string lights, but once we got them home and comparison shopped, we ran back to get 2 more 400-light boxes, on sale for $89 each! (Icicle version was also available). We covered our 9-ft tree with two boxes’ worth (the base is 4ft in diameter, to give you an idea of sizing). We are now playing with the Twinkly app and all its settings, and I am not even sure I want to decorate it as I do every year, just yet. Excellent quality, the wiring is slender, black in colour and fades away in our tree branches, and are very malleable. Lights are also dimmable, programmable, and for us, were easy to set up tech-wise! Can’t wait for the family to roll in to see the light shows!

Not as advertised

Home Depot blew it BIG time. The title says STRING lights, yet the photos and descriptions show icicle lights. Called before ordering $300 worth to see which it was and the rep checked and guaranteed me these were icicle lights. Of course, when they arrived they were string lights, not icicle lights. Come to find out Home Depot doesn't even carry the Twinkly icicle lights. Had to go through all the trouble to return and re-order elsewhere. As for the Twinkly brand, they are great.

[Rewarded Review] connectivity/configuration nightmare

I bought these looking forward to a really nice configurable set of lights, for which i certainly was willing to pay this price. i got a set that doesn't connect to WiFi (i have a mesh network, but even when i turned off the 5 mHz portion of the network the app won't find the lights even though i see it in my network configuration app). i then tried direct wifi connection to the string lights, but the password isn't even provided in the app - i had to go to the customer service portion of the website in order to find that. when i finally direct wifi connect to the string lights, the app still doesn't see the light set as an option. wasted an hour of time trying to get these to work. without the app, there are almost no control options, and one certainly is not able to configure different strobe/light patterns. get your stuff together, twinkly.

So I'm a real big stickler on holiday decoration. Lights don't go on until the day after Thanksgiving and they automatically are removed right after New Year's. I've never been the type of person to use different lighting and ambient lighting in my room. I just became a permanent fixture around our main staircase leading upstairs. I love that it Branch from the middle into different directions with two different strings. I like that you can control the pattern the speed and the patterns. The remote control is really easy to use. And we've been using it as a night light for hallway and also just for aesthetics when we have social events and parties.

These were easy to set up and once installed make an older tree look like a new state of the art display. We get complimented every year on our lights and it seems like we are always "selling" friends and family. Almost all of them have gone out and purchased a set after seeing ours.

I had never heard of Twinkly Strings before and am so grateful we have had this opportunity fo receive this set in exchange for an honest review as incentive to try them at no monetary cost for our time and effort. We love how easy these are to turn on an change lighting settings based on our preference. We hang lights around the perimeter of our family room each winter season and ditched our old colored lights for these Twinkly Strings (multi-color edition). Right away, the quality of light emission was evident in comparison to what we had been using, these are vibrant and varied according to our preference where you can control dimness and program custom designed options using the Twinkly Smart Phone App. Our set up is simple, but there is endless possibility for users to get creative in mapping out their own custom designs using the Twinkly Smart Phone App. The instructions are fairly simple and these can be used on a tree or around the house as we have chosen. My husband and youngest daughter who is 10 years old had fun testing out all the options for lighting. She likes to fall asleep on our futon in the family room using the twinkle setting that sets a soothing atmosphere and then change to a more vibrantly festive static light setting during the day which is perfect during the holiday season and winter months where we live. I would definitely buy these now that we have seen the quality and various options that bring value worthy of them being a little bit more pricey than our old set of lights. These are way more fun to use and we can easily see why they are worth the upgrade. Highly recommend.

I really love these lights. I bought a 600 string and icicle lights last year for Christmas. I ended using the 600 string and pegboard to make a marque light for New Years. That turn out great.

 I absolutely love the lights, they were fairly easy to put up. They come with a remote that you can change. The colors are connected to Wi-Fi to change the colors on your phone. You have to download an app. So patience is required. The lights do amazing as far as changing colors. They’re so fun they’re so bright Reading the owners manuals I hope as far as getting the lights to change from your phone I don’t think there’s anything that I dislike about this product. It was awesome. I wouldn’t change anything about the product maybe making them completely wireless to where they connect from the inside and out the outside but I’m not a genius. 

These lights truly are a game changer! These are 400 lights on a 10 foot tree for example. My husband was putting on our classic multiple color lights, it was taking soooo many strands. And then, when he was 80% done, they all went out….of course! Then, I remembered Influenster sent me these nights. And they truly saved Christmas! It took MINUTES to put these up compared to your standard string light. And are 10000% better. And with then being LED, we don’t have to worry about any going out. And it’s actually fun to use the app and figure out which lights you like. My daughter is 1 and just loves staring at it. You can get so creative. Which watching your favorite sports team, change the Christmas tree! Love love love! This will be all that we use from now on.

Pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

I have spent a ton of money on Christmas lights. I've been mostly buy gem color show, sychro and motion lights. They were good at first but have had zero evolution and had become worse instead of better. No can't get half of the welt rings I buy to last a single season.My tree lights failed last year. They were traditional lights with a tiny controller with a few patterns. I saw these and some of the videos and decided to give them a shot.Absolutely love them. Kids are having a blast making their own routines and displays. The 3d effect is dope. The 2d portraits and text are cool but I don't have enough lights to really make that work as well as if it were flat and more condensed.Setup was fairly easy. Took four different shots at calibrating it. Needed to tinker with reflection on the floor or the sliding glass window. After I got that squared away; super easy.Totally worth getting. No issues with iPhone 13. Very happy with my purchase.

Died after a few hours

I wanted to love these lights so badly. And I did for a few hours. Setup was a breeze, then I started having connection issues. It turns out the issue was that my wife and I logged in from two different phones and it confused the app. It seems kind of dumb that having the ability for two people to control the lights would cause it to not work, but whatever. They still looked great. We logged out of the app on my wife's phone, and they started working again.

Great looking lights

I love how these lights look. The colors are very nice looking with pretty much every color on the wheel looking great. I got tired of LED christmas lights looking so dim and blue-ish, but these are bright and awesome looking.I put these up on the roof of my house. Worth noting that the scanning feature doesn't work particularly well, but if you leave it on the default setting it should work okay. First time setting up I didn't realize that... unfortunately it was not easy to "reset" the pattern back to the default. At the time, you had to remove the lights from the app and add them again... but maybe they'll add a reset button to the app. (Maybe they already have).Another piece of info: the plugbluetooth dongle thing are in the middle, not at one end. This is essentially two strings of 200 lights each, connected in the middle. Something to know for planning purposes when deciding what to buy and how to run your lights.These lights do not string together with other sets in series, either. Each set you get has to be plugged insetup completely separately.I purchased some protective boxes to put the plugselectronics in to protect them from snow and ice, I just felt too nervous leaving the electronics exposed.

You'll be the envy of the neighborhood.

These lights are so darned beautiful that I don't regret the price tag. They are definitely for the enthusiast who doesn't mind the chaching during checkout. These things will set you back! And after you install a few, you will be hooked and buy many many more.As with all smart devices, the obstacle is the software. While the iOS app is functional and doesn't crash on me, it does take some patience as the interface and setup process are very methodical. You have to do things in a certain order and wait while things happen that you are unaware are happening.Downloading new effects takes time; a lot of time! And after downloading them, every time you access each device, the lighting effects are compiled (or converted) for the custom layout of each device or device group. I'm talking like 10 minutes watching a wheel spinning! Hopefully this will be addressed with future software updates.Be aware that these things reach their full potential when connected to Wifi. It is possible for them to broadcast their own Wifi (called adhoc) which allows you to control them that way, but it is easier if your home Wifi reaches them to make all the lighting effects easier to apply. So have a good Wifi mesh system in place to make sure the signal reaches these puppies.

Honest unbiased review

If you see the twinkly lights on YouTube they are on trees with perfect placement from the factory at the end of each branch.

[Rewarded Review] Stupidly expensive, but so enjoyable...

First, let's acknowledge that these are stupidly expensive. That being said, I am so flipping in love with this string of lights, I also bought a "cluster" strand. I turned my living room into my workout room, since my gym has been closed bcz of Covid. I thrive on sparkly, color-changing things and these lights with all the built in patterns and ability to modify those patters, totally fit the bill. (Yes, I live alone, so I can get away with converting my living room to my workout space! :-) )
