Product came just as shown; it is the plastic half pan set of 6 paints/15 pans total (it has 9 extra empty pans to fill as you wish), which is not the best travel palette - mainly because the lid is not built to open flat & be used as a mixing tray, so FYI. But I knew that at the time of purchase due to my own research; so it's more of a "take note of this fact before you buy", especially if you plan to use it that way - it just won't work. Other then that, the colors are beautiful, & are very high quality and are exactly what I was wanting... the pigments are not as intense as Mijello's Mission Gold Pure Pigments (24 color) set (they are VERY intense!!!); but I view this as a good thing, because the DS pigment level is more of a medium, medium-high intensity, and a bit easier to NOT overdo it on the intensity of a color accidentally. I'm still a bit new to watercolors, but (between these 2 brands) I find DS to be the best watercolors you can get here in the states, if you have to choose one.
