Over priced garbage, do not buy

I was shocked when I inspected these at pickup. This is garbage open cell foam. The sheets are less the 1/4” thick. The pattern is very faint. They would be very susceptible to damage from the lightest of touches. I immediately asked for a refund.

The advertisement stated that it would fit right over the popcorn on my ceiling. When we finally got it to stick we found that we were having to put the glue on VERY thick. It took one tub of glue for each bundle. The popcorn is covered but the ceiling is in definite squares. It looks like stepping stones. I pictured them to be a smooth surface when installed but there is a rim around the actual tile that prevents the smooth surface. I did not see a rim when I viewed the product.

We are so happy with this product! Removed popcorn ceiling, then learned it would cost $650 for skimcoat and paint. Paid $167 for 64 tiles + glue and finished a 12×14 room in a weekend, and have a beautiful, interesting ceiling! Just caulking to conceal tiny imperfections and we're done! Planning on buying more and foregoing the popcorn scraping in other rooms.

These tiles are very easy to install and look quite nice. They are super lightweight, just styrofoam, but that helps with the ease of putting them up and cutting them to size or around fixtures. I used Loctite Power Grab Express All-Purpose Interior Construction Adhesive with zero problems. If it was a thick line of adhesive, you can faintly see it through the tile but I’m painting the tiles so that’s a non-issue. The tiles take paint very well also. Overall, I am extremely happy with this product and would definitely recommend.

I've been using a lot of the low profile paterns of A La Maison Ceilings on my remodel projects. They go up extreemly fast & easy and you don't have the mess of drywall mudding. They are styrofoam and thus a little fragile and best suited for taller ceilings. To achieve the best look possible I cut the perimiter tight with a sharp utility knife and run a tiny bead of painters caulk around the outside and between the tiles before priming and painting. To achieve the 'lightly distressed' tin ceiling look in my picture I painted them with pewter grey and then a pearlecent glaze on a rag roller. The other picture is a 7' X 8' bath that took less than an hour and is ready for paint.

Styrofoam product is very thin and fragile but shipped in great shape with no damage. Used in washroom/ bathroom and walk-in closet ceiling to replace a popcorn ceiling. The YouTube video made by this company makes it look easier than it actually is. Make sure you follow your chalk lines exactly. Chalking the joints is a must and very difficult to do upside down. Paint is a must to hide the Styrofoam look and the dots of adhesive all showing through. I did not use the quick dry adhesive due to comments about melting the Styrofoam. I used Liquid Nail for Paneling. Works well in rooms like I was doing, but would not put this in a living area.
